Great selection of beers and ciders etc but it sure they’ve hit the mark on the décor just yet.

The old Headline bar has been refurbished and now serves a great selection of craft beers and ciders along with a limited but delish food menu. Beer, pies and cheeseboard, good enough! The décor is cosy, seats are comfy, there are a few little cosy nooks to hang out in. The only negatives would be no outdoor area which is fine for the winter but come spring will be an issue, also I found the wine list very pricey for a pub. Oh and they have Keogh’s crisps!

I was at the Headline sing song last Sunday night. Terrific entertainment in the auld Dublin traditional style. There was a backing group called Bernie and Larry and through the night singers sang. Towards nights end a bit of dancing. Everybody was very friendly and I can certainly recommend going there for a bit of craic and ceol.

I went to college for a year near here so this was our place to go when we were bunking off lectures! It’s a real locals’ pub and all the regulars used to be in there every afternoon watching Countdown on the telly! The pints are great and all the bar staff are really friendly too — they kind of make you feel like you’re in a home from home. Actually the bar has a bit of a sitting room feel to it anyway so you do feel a bit like you’re hanging out in your own house. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

The Headline Bar… one of my old student haunts, it was perfect, a bit grotty, a bit dark, a bit dodgy feeling. Like my good self the place has grown up a bit since, but the pub still feels a little uninviting if you are not a local.
