A very nice«Do-It-Yourself» shop tucked away in the niche of Rathmines. I had been coming by here every day on my way home from school and always wanted to walk in and check it out. I finally did so around Christmas as a present to myself. I bought a kit, juice, and bottles all for a little over 100 Euro. If you’ve been collecting wine bottles you can get away with only paying 74 Euro for everything. With the set it comes out to about 2 Euro a bottle for wine, and once you get the hang of it, it’ll be about 1 Euro a bottle. I’ve brewed my own beer before which turned out amazing, so I’m upgrading to wine, which is significantly harder. With patience, devotion, and luck, I hope to eventually make the perfect bottle!!! A nice shop, four stars only because my hydrometer was already broken, and they made me buy a new one, but it was only 4 Euro so I wasn’t too upset. They are probably just barely making rent. *Word of advice, don’t be cheep with your siphon — a better siphon is absolutely key. If you take anything away from my post, be it to get the pump-kind or else you’ll surly regret it. :-)

No question at all people, this is the way forward… or backwards in fact since I can remember my father brewing his own some 30 years ago! You can produce your own beer for as little as 40cent a pint… which aint at all bad. They have kits available for the beginners and advice and gear for the more advanced… a very basic looking shop but they have all the stuff you need! For about 50 Euro you can buy all the vats and buckets and air filters and stuff you need for your first foray into the magical land of brewing. which is pretty good and will make an awesome Christmas present for someone… HINTHINT (Q’s wife looks at review and points out that it is grammatically appalling but still buys him socks)
