The Nespresso counter in Brown Thomas, for all your coffee needs. At the moment they have a Cuban special edition(Cubania), I think it’s the strongest espresso I’ve ever had. Including the ones in Cuba. The staff is efficient and always friendly but the queues can be massive! And I just don’t quite get why they offer you a cup of(free) coffee after you made your purchase. Surely, letting people have a try first and then get them so buy something makes more sense? No? Please discuss.

Ah Nespresso, how did I ever live without you? That feeling of belonging, being a member, part of an elite, I’m better than you :-P club. It’s horrible really, but it does feel good. Anyway, Nespresso in BTs, the only place in Dublin where you can purchase genuine Nespresso Grand Crus(that’s coffee to you). Staff are extremely polite and pleasant, and very helpful. The offer of a free coffee is a nice touch, and again makes you feel like you belong. Yeah it’s all marketing hype but somehow you just can’t help falling for it. My only quibble is the queues on a Saturday afternoon, you have to really, really, really like Nespresso. In fairness to the staff, they are efficient without making you feel rushed, I just feel that as a special member of the club I am probably much better than everyone else who is queuing up and I should really have my own line. I still feel special leaving with my Nespresso bag in hand, and the queues can be avoided by timing things right(no I’m not going to tell, or else everyone will do it). Great concept, great coffee, and for making me feel so special and cherished they get that 5th star.

Wow… is this what its like to buy a car? I never have and but I’d imagine there is much involved. At Nespresso there seemed so much involved when you come to buy a coffee machine. Join a club? Which machine? Recycling bags? A free pod box? Which flavour? OK, it all sounds like it’d wreck your head, but the staff made it so straightforward and easy(of course they would, but you’d be surprised at how hard some business make it for you to part with your money). After picking a machine we were brought over to the counter and given an espresso while our sales person went to get the machine. Armed with the new machine, a variety pack of coffees we headed home happy. Bish bash bosh.

Generous and always polite customer service. A free coffee to make the visit worth your while. 16 varieties of coffee pods for your at-home delectation. There’s no reason you shouldn’t get yourself a machine– with each pod costing less than 40c, you’ll save a bundle from the first brew. And you have an excuse to go into Brown Thomas, which I never had before. The best part’s definitely the free coffee!

I’m not sure what I like best about the Nespresso boutique. The enormous pictures of George Clooney looking all sexy and smouldering certainly help. It’s probably mainly my twin loves of coffee and customer service that swing it though. My little sisters bought me a Nespresso machine for Christmas a couple of years ago and I have rarely gotten such good value out of a gift. The coffee is gorgeous, there’s a range of espresso and lungo versions, and making it is a matter of putting a pod in the machine and pressing the button. Perfect for the motivationally challenged. The downside to Nespresso in general tends to be their attempt at exclusivity-it’s only sold in their«boutiques» or online. Buying from this boutique is not only painless, but pleasant however. The staff are welcoming and the aroma of fresh coffee beckons you in. They really know and love their products without being pushy and will usually offer you a complimentary cup of coffee. This is useful not only on long shopping days, but also for trying out special editions or seasonal versions(like gingerbread at Christmas!). On the best days there will also be an amaretti biscuit on the saucer. How very refined… I love the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff and am pretty addicted to the coffee. 5 stars it is!
