I love discovering great places to eat!(Thanks Emily for bringing some of us here!) I think I only once before had Vietnamese food. And I’m sure I’ll remember this one better. Obviously I can’t judge but it tasted pretty authentic to me — definitely not like any other cuisine. As we had a reservation for seven people we were seated upstairs which on this Monday evening we had to ourselves. Which made it easier to chat but also took a bit away from the atmosphere. Together with their choice of background music which definitely didn’t suit. But the food… YAY. I finally got to try fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. I had them with prawns and pork. You need to get used to the consistency of the rice paper which was a bit sticky but they tasted very good and were indeed fresh and with crisp salad. They came with satay sauce. But again not what I’m used to from say Thai food. The sauce was a bit sourly so I had to get used to it. But I did no problem. As a main I had Bun Tom Bo Nuong(Grilled prawn and beef with vermicelli rice noodles). There’s no sauce in the dish itself but it’s served with sweet chilly sauce which makes it a very light if filling dish. Again I loved the taste of it. A lot. The interiour is very simple which again helps with the authenic feel of it. And seeing vietnamese(I assume) customers is always a good sign too. So I’ll definitely will be back and try some of their other dishes.

There is always a first time at tonight it was my first time eating in a Vietnamese Restaurant. Good experience, despite of the«elevator music», despite the blue Monday(supposed to be the saddest day in the year). I went for the Tom Nijong(big prawn over the grill with sweet — spicy) and the prawn and chicken with steamed rice, on the site a Saigon beer to get the local taste. The portions are generous, the ingredients tasty and the combination of colours and smells really nice. The venue is OK, a modest decoration outweighed by the friendly staff. Definitively the music can be improved, but anyway: it is a good place to speak and catch up with friends One thing is clear: if you don’t like prawn or soupy noddles it is not your place.

You know what I like? Finding good Asian restaurants in Dublin. It’s still rare enough when you’re not eating Japanese as that is everywhere, well, this place definitely hits the spot! In terms of ambience, we sat upstairs, had the top floor to ourselves which would be really nice for a big group, and we were treated to somewhat cheesy elevator/hotel lounge type music, but never mind that. Food wise, there were plenty of options on offer, both for starters and mains, which is always good. I opted just for the main, I did order the satay rice dish which to start off with was a bit confusing as what was listed on the menu was very different from what I actually got, but what I got *was* delicious. Just based on that experience though if you do have allergies or just something you don’t like I’d definitely confirm when you order what’s in your dish. That said, don’t let that put you off going there! The staff were really lovely here. Service for mains was a little bit slow but maybe that was because most diners were downstairs and we were upstairs, and on the flip side I guess it means the food is made fresh when you order. When the dishes were ready, they send it up in a little food elevator which is kinda cool! The real surprise though came at the end of the meal when I ordered a hot chocolate. Made with real chocolate, it was absolutely delicious and a tall glass too, so good. Overall, it was a nice dining experience. Food seemed pretty fresh and overall quite healthy, so if you are an Asian food enthusiast and want something a bit different from the standard Japanese or Chinese, this is not a bad option at all.

What a lovely way of starting the week. Great food with very good ingredients and a really friendly staff. In this venue you can find a taste of the Vietnamese typical food in great rations. I’m not very into Asian food but this place make it great. I had fried rice with beef and prawns with a delicious chile tasting. Don’t forget about the beer, they have typical brands from Vietnam which were really good.

We always visit Phở places wherever we go. This one did not disappoint. We stayed at the Cassidy Hotel and this restaurant is right around the corner. Absolutely delicious. We will visit one more time before we leave.

Craving Phö? The place to go. A nice little restaurant just outside the primary shopping area in Dublin. When the weather starts cooling down and the days are dreary, this place will warm you up and keep you going. Can’t say much else other than if you’re craving Phö you won’t be disappointed. It has all the basics and all the additions you could want to spice up your soup. It’s a simple as that. Enjoy!

Beautiful, authentic and fresh food. Bill barely reached 50e with 2 starters(one big enough to share), 3 mains and a minor corkage fee on 2 beers and a bottle of wine. Service was great, our waiter Joe was a credit to the establishment, very friendly and informative, and our food arrived promptly and was delicious. Couldn’t recommend it any more!

My wife & I visited Phở Viet on our trip to Dublin last year. We have a large Vietnamese population in Houston & I have eaten phở many times — made at home or in restaurants all over the world — even in Vietnam. I try to have a bowl in every city I visit along with a glass of fresh lemonade — sometimes good, most times just ok or bad — been disappointed many times. I ordered the phở tai & my wife had the vegetarian phở. We only ate this & the eggrolls so I can’t comment on the other food. This was one of the best bowls of phở that I’ve ever eaten outside of the Vietnamese restaurants in Houston or Westminster Orange County. The flavor was very authentic. The herbs & ingredients were very fresh(not always a common occurrence). The broth was flavorful without being oversalty or bland. The beef was perfectly sliced & easy to chew & seemed reasonably fresh(must be the great Irish beef because it seemed tastier than most places I’ve been to). The lemonade was great too. The staff is friendly & attentive. The facilities are maintained in good working order. The restaurant is a cozy size & was well-kept & had contemporary styling so that it did not appear outdated. The other awesome thing about this place is that there is a good Korean/Japanese restaurant next door(Kim Chi/Hop House) that I’ve also put up a review for. We ate here one night & next door the next depending on which cuisine your are craving that day. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys a good bowl of phở. We were hoping to return to try some of the other dishes but just ran out of time during our stay in Dublin. I felt that we got good value for what we paid here.

Good food and very friendly service. We’ve tried the phở and the bun bo hue our first time there — just two simple classic dishes, as there is nothing better than steaming hot bowls of noodle soup for a wintery afternoon. Both dishes were done well. On our second visit, I tried the grilled pork and prawn vermicelli bowl. Great flavours — filling but not heavy. I’d love to come back and try their bahn xeo(rice paper crepes). Another note: other reviewers mention being charged for water, but we were brought water without being charged… so they may have changed their policy on this(it is a bit ridiculous).

Not such a cosy place and there was a very bad toilets smells. But the staff was very friendly. Big portions, you’re not gettig out of there with an empty stomach. You’re mostly getting out of there with a very good feeling of eating healthy food. I had ordered the vegetable spring rolls as starter which was nice. I had then ordered the famous phở which is a Vietnamese noodle soup but I haven’t been overexcited by this. However, I went there with a vietnamese friend and he said this was the best vietnamese place in town.

I love phở and have had a lot of it back home in Portland, OR. We have a large Vietnamese population, so the phở is legit. I was so happy to find a phở restaurant in Dublin. And, I was pleasantly surprised with my food. I ordered the spring rolls to start. They were simple and good. Had the basic Phở Tai for the main. The broth is heavy on the Chinese 5 Spice end. Not usually my fav for phở, but it was done well and I enjoyed every bite of it. Wish there was a bit of fresh basil to add to the soup, but it was quite tasty without. The staff was really nice. The menu is marked for gluten. I’ll definitely be going back again.

Quite a nice place décor wise and service. But I really didn’t enjoy the food. I had the prawns for starters which were woefully overcooked and soggy. I am guessing they were steamed? Not sure either way didn’t enjoy them much. I had the Mixed Phở for main and really found the taste to be off putting. So much so I didn’t really eat much of it. I have only had Vietnamese a couple of times before which I really enjoyed both times so I was a little let down this time. Maybe I should have tried something different from the menu? The other people with me seemed to enjoy their food more than me. So don’t be put off by my review maybe I was just unlucky on my choices.

I’d never been to a Vietnamese restaurant in Dublin? Really? I guess it’s mainly been Thai and Korean that I’d been trying these last few years. Chinese I’ve given up on long ago in Dublin as not much other than sweet & sour or curry loaded with MSG. But I would be open to suggestion here on that one folks. Getting back to Vietnamese. Invited by the lovely Emily to Yap On Unilocal,we ventured out to Phở Viet. I ordered the meat spring rolls as a starter, but in hindsight should have order the vegetable spring rolls as the meat one had a flavour that didn’t suit me. My main I went for the Mon Xao: Special stir fry that had a mixture of beef, chicken and prawns stir fried with onion, carrot, broccoli and mushroom. It was much nicer on my palate, the meat was lovely and tender. The veg nice and base sauce/broth very tasty. I would definitely have this on a return visit. The wine we ordered was also very nice, I think was the Sauvingnon Blanc, which was also very good value. Which I find always seems to be the case in Dublin Asian restaurants. Recommended.

If you’re looking for really good Vietnamese food at a fantastic, affordable price, you should check this place out! I agree with Emily C., that the placed lacked a cozy feel, but at the same time it felt pretty standard for a food institution of its kind. The exterior façade certainly belies the interior cleanliness albeit plain appearance(so to use the old adage — don’t judge a book by its cover!). I enjoyed the fresh spring rolls to start, and then had the chicken, prawn, and veggies served over vermicelli for my main. Both dishes were really tasty, but like anything else, the sauces made them. The fresh spring rolls can with a decadent peanut sauce and my main had a suite of sweet and sours to spicy sauces and hot peppers for me to choose from and enhance my dish. Good service and nice waitstaff. I’d definitely go back if I was looking for this type of food!

Loved loved loved this place. It’s very deceptive from the outside — it’s not the small little café-like situation that it seems, in fact it goes for two levels and is really quite lovely inside. It’s not super cosy, which is why ultimately I wouldn’t give it five stars, but then again this is standard for many Asian restaurants like this, so to each their own. The lack of cosiness is absolutely made up for by the warm and friendly staff — they really are all so lovely and genuine and a pleasure to deal with. The real star of the show here though is the food. Fresh, massive portions, and really exquisitely tasty. There’s something about the Vietnamese combination of chilli, coriander, garlic and special sauces like their fish sauce(unreal), that gets the tastebuds zing. I had the pork and chicken salad starter, which was nearly big enough to be a main, and the beef phở for main — again massive, with so much really great quality tender meat. Winner all round, I’ll definitely be back!

About 20 of us decided to pick this place for our pre-Xmas get together. We booked the upstairs function room and got a set menu for 21 Euro for 2 courses with tea or coffee. 5euro corkage fee for wine and 1euro for beer. The staff was great, very friendly and on the ball. There was no music and all our ‘phone in pint glass’ efforts failed so they actually brought a laptop up to us and put on some Christmas tunes. Awwww. The food arrived promptly, was hot and yummy and everyone got to eat together as in all dishes pretty much came out at the same time. That is very unusual for a large group like that. A special mention to the Vietnamese coffee which is served with condensed milk and was very very yummy!

The luck of the Irish gets them the best phở I’ve had in my entire stay in Europe this summer. The owner is from Saigon, and carefully cooks the broth with slowly simmered beef bones. This makes a difference. The broth is the golden foundation for a good bowl of phở, and in a climate like Ireland’s, this dish is sure to grow in popularity. The restaurant is clean, with friendly service, and it is completely Vietnamese mom approved. My mom and I went back here two nights in a row with consistent good service and repeated quality food. Highly recommend the bun bo hue and the phở. They take huge pride in being one of three Vietnamese restaurants in Dublin, and I’m happy to say they are great food ambassadors of my native country. To the naysayers that this isn’t authentic, WHATAREYOUTALKINGABOUT? Have you talked to the owners? Have you tasted the broth? The noodles are cooked al dente, the broth comes out piping hot, and the cuts of meat are completely high quality. They take pride in their food here in its quality and authenticity. I grew up in Vietnam the first eight years of my life, have had phở up and down Vietnam from Ha Noi to Saigon, not to mention the over twenty years of living off of phở in Seattle, where we have phở restaurants at every other door down the majority of our commercial restaurant areas to help us cope with the city being rainy 99% of the year. This is as good as it gets. My mom says the last time she tasted phở with this much flavor and richness in taste and aroma was in her hometown INVIETNAM. Don’t question the momma taste buds. Go here, and you will not be dissapointed. However, if you would like to continue to eat unhealthy, MSG-laden, chemical filled inauthentic phở, please proceed to do so, just don’t question a business about its magic or inauthenticity when it’s completely delicious and tasty due to the effort and quality of cooking and ingredients, not a dependency on chemical-flavors to make the food taste good. I hope the Irish clientele know how good they have it! I would be coming here three times a week(at least!) if I lived in Dublin.

New favourite lunch place! Ban Xeo(vietnamese pancake with prawns, mince pork wrapped with mint and dipping sauce) was gorgeous — light and tasty. My mate has the Phở(pronounced fur) which he said was very good too. I had the chargrilled pork chops with rice, delicious with the Siracha sauce! Prices are very reasonable although they add on a compulsory 10% tip on top. Service was a bit lacking though. We had to beckon the waitress to make our order, and another patron had to ask for a menu after sitting there for 10 minutes. She was very pleasant though! Definitely will come back :)
