I went on a Sunday afternoon to meet a few friends. Relaxing Sunday pint? No, definitely not. When I got there the place was pretty packed. I guess that’s a good sign for some, places are great fun when they’re buzzing, but this place just wasn’t. Dingey old interiors, sticky floors and a ton of drunks. I went to the bar to order a drink. Again, sticky furniture. Smelled fairly bad too. Maybe it was just the drunk old men sitting at the bar! I ordered a bottle of Irish beer that’s usually around € 5 in most bars. Here it was € 6.20. I know it’s Temple bar, but still. I paid with my card and that was that. There were an Irish Trad band playing and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The tourists were going mad which was fun. Then I went back to the bar to order another beer(the same). I was told that they don’t accept cards for transactions € 10. Clearly wasn’t true since I had just used it 30mins previously. Rather than go out in the rain to find an atm, I just bought a 2nd beer to go over the € 10 threshold. While I was paying a man next to me ordered 1 Guinness and paid for it with his card. Pretty sure they’re under a tenner. Left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth since I didn’t actually want to have to buy a second beer. Lesson learned I suppose! I rarely write a bad review about a place. Always try to find the positives but this place just stuck with me. Not a fan and don’t think I’ll be back!

Upstairs pub and restaurant in middle of Temple Bar area. There is a 20 €, 2-course menu with many selections to choose from. I opted for the Boxty cake starter and fish & chips entrée. Both were pretty good, but the Fish really stood out — tender, fresh, and large portion. This is nice place to take a break at, whether for a drink or meal. Atmosphere is homely and welcoming, service is top notch.

For what it’s worth, we were hungry tourists who wanted nothing more than to say we had bangers and mash in a Dublin pub. So for that, Quays fit the bill. Pricey, of course, since it’s in Temple Bar. But kind of fun and it was actually pretty darn good and a whole lot of food.

Immer schwer überfüllt also zeitig kommen. Als Tourist unbedingt auch meine Publiste beachten!

We stumbled in after lunching across the street. The live music was the draw — and what made us stay. Bartenders were friendly and speedy!(Yay!) Great crowd. We danced, we drank, we stumbled out into the streets smiling. Be prepared… the drink prices increase as the night progresses.(We visited at least 3 more times before we departed Ireland. Never a let down.) And… AND — — do NOT miss the bangers and mash in the upstairs restaurant. Best… EVER!

This is right in the centre of temple bar so expect pricey drinks. If you are looking for some live Irish music and bit craic this is a great place for that, very very busy most days but it does what it says on the«tin» Good Irish craic !

The Quays: I’m a fan simply for the live music and for the cool location on a square in Dublin’s Temple Bar! Temple Bar is already a vibrant location but add some really cool tunes and it makes it an even more memorable experience. What’s more… if there’s an event(like the recent American college football game tailgate) you can request plastic cups to enjoy your bevvies outside while taking in the festivities. And, the tunes can be heard curbside! Rock on at The Quays(it’s pronounced ‘keys’ by the way ;)

Security did not want to let us in, because we were«drunk» — even though we came from the hotel when we just arrived in Dublin. Loud and crowded. Glasses and beer all over the floor. Temple Bar Tourist Trap.

Came here twice, never again. Once on Arthurs day which was good craic outside on the square and the other was when Notre dame played navy and I think it was over € 6 for a pint of Guinness. The place is a rip off.

One of the better bars in the Temple Bar district. Always a lively international crowd I think due to the music. If you like being with a touristy crowd, it is a good place to get a pint of Guinness and relax. I have been there a couple of times and noticed that if you are there early you can get a seat… later it does get VERY crowded.

Okay, as much as this is a cliché touristy place in Temple Bar, and can occasionally get a bit knackery, every time I have brought friends from the states to visit, and we are looking for a fun crowded place on a week night where we can sing along to a live band and have a great and corny trad night out, this is a go-to place. If you get in around 730 or so, there’s plenty of room to get a spot to sit, which is highly suggested because the place does get PACKED as the night goes on. I’d suggest this place for a Sunday /Monday /Tuesday /Wednesday night — nights that are typically a bit more quiet in other parts of Dublin if looking for a fun spot, just because it’ll be one of the few places that are crowded(read: tourist attraction, because let’s be honest people, if you go to a local haunt during the week, it won’t be super crowded because we DO work in normal 9 – 5 jobs here in Dublin! :)) Something to definitely be very careful about however, is that you are in Temple Bar, and it’s an area known for pick pockets, so ladies watch your bags, and gentlemen, watch your pockets, especially coat pockets with phones! If you can get over that one, however, it’s a fun time — I’ve never not had a good time here, but as a local, just need to get over the fact that yes, it’s tourists, yes, it’s trad music, but can be lots of fun when you’re in the mood! :)

There are a lot of places to eat and drink in Temple Bar… we were able to find a table in the bar area with hopes of ordering food and listening to the music. The waiter kinky told us the stooped serving food in the bar but could go upstairs for food! Nice atmosphere, good bar food and excellent service!

It’s been awhile since I ate here, but when I was there last the food was excellant. The place was packed. The waitstaff was attentive. Our group enjoyed the food immensely. Upstairs was dark, the brown bread and butter was awesome. Dinner was great as was the pints!

We just stepped into this bar and had a fantastic evening with cider and great live-music. The people were awesome and the atmosphere was brilliant. I really loved spending the night there. The reason why we came back again and so we could enjoy another great evening of great music.

a ton of places to eat in the temple bar area… and it can be quite overwhelming… after walking up and down the main drag multiple times, bf and i ended up at this place… a second floor, cozy, irish bar/restaurant with pretty great irish fare! although the euros translates most meals into rather expensive for the dollar, we enjoyed our dinner including really awesome bacon and onion boxty, seafood chowder + mussels and bangers and mash!

While out on the drink last night we decided to call over to the Quays for a few scoops. I have been here many times, and it is not the worst spot to have a few in Temple Bar. I personally would avoid the place in the summer or on weekends — as others have pointed out it is a bit of a tourist trap and gets jammers after 8PM and all day on weekends. It wasn’t bad at all on the Wednesday and the price of drink is what you pay pretty much everywhere else in Temple Bar — expensive but the same at all pubs in the area. The bartenders are polite and the staff is also very nice. They always have live music going at night, something that I always enjoy. That being said it must be noted that some bands are much better than others. On the night in question the lads who were playing didn’t know the words to Sean South, which was a point of contention with the people in our group. If you are going to bill yourself as an Irish Ballads band, make sure you know your Irish Ballads. But a great time was still had by all, even with the lack of musical knowledge on behalf of the band. Seriously? No Sean South?

I was sorry I walked through the doors of this place. A typical tourist trap Temple Bar establishment which they cram to the seams and horse beers over the bar as quickly as possible. This pub is all about making money and nothing else. The staff barely look at you, they’re so busy gushing out booze as if their life depends on it and the manager… best shut up now. Put it this way… NEVER again

Had a lovely evening here drinking with a group of tourists from Liverpool. In fact, it became more of a contest of how much Guinness you could drink while still being able to have a coherent conversation about football. I remember the pints being a bit spendy, but when every other one is being purchased by someone else, it all becomes a bit hazy.

Great place to head if you’re struggling to achieve your ‘one-a-day Irish-American tourist’ targets. Personally I love those guys, here because their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents hail from the Emerald Isle, and kicking themselves because they haven’t experienced the craic sooner(and gosh, I can’t talk myself…) So what you’ll get at The Quays is not your authentic Irish pub experience, it’s more of a ‘tourists experiencing an Irish pub’ experience, but the crowds are good, the craic is mighty, and the live music is rocking. Head here at any time of the day or night(but it gets mega packed in the evenings, so don’t plan on moving once you get inside!) The great locale in the centre of Temple Bar means The Quays will always attract its fair share of customers, and will always hold the possibility of interesting conversations with soon-to-be best friends!

After wandering around the Temple Bar area of Dublin, I came across Quays Bar. It was just in time for a bite of lunch and a pint of Guinness. Before even walking into this locale, the outside of this classic Irish pub draws you in with the gold and green painted wooden exterior, large windows and the wooden and brass revolving door. Like most of the pubs in Ireland, you walk into the bar area and the dining is done upstairs. Now you can get your pub grub served to you on the first floor, but the tables are much bigger and enjoyable on the second floor. The Quays restaurant area upstairs is very similar to the ground floor. The décor includes an abundance of dark wooden floors, walls, tables and chairs. It is truly the quintessential Irish pub look. I was able to snatch a window seat and get a great view of Temple Bar Square. The menu includes all of the usual suspects that you come to expect when dining at a pub. That includes bangers and mash, fish and chips, kidney pie and more. I opted for a burger with a Guinness. The staff made our dining(and drinking) experience one to remember. They were all had that quick Irish wit and were very friendly. Quays Bar is a great way to spend a few hours with friends, food, drinks and views.

In Temple Bar square, the Quays Bar remains a popular destination for Dublin tourists and new residents. It draws a steady crowd because throughout the afternoon, musicians take the stage(conveniently placed in the window of the pub). I go here sometimes because the music is good and there’s good craic. Simon Gynn, a singer and guitarist, plays throughout the week. His good looks and charm keep many customers entertained. Alternatively, the Quays also doubles as a sports’ bar. You can catch all major sporting events on their flat screen TV. This pub is not the most authentic Irish bar, but it’s a safe bet. The Guinness is tasty and the customers are interested in making new friends.

A lovely place to settle in for a pint, even if it is amongst the tourists. Serving up a great pint of Guinness, the bar staff is great and is attentive enough that I don’t think I ever had an empty when I was sitting at the bar. The décor is traditional pub, which is I suppose why the tourists love it so. It gets quite crowded, so make sure and time your pub time well.

Zona: Temple Bar
