My go-to for take away pizza in Dublin! The pepperoni pizza’s are fantastic — and the prices are even better!

First time in Ray’s and I have to say I loved it. No frills. Nothing fancy. Just pizza by the slice. A bit expensive as we paid € 4.50 a slice and then € 1.50 for a can of Coke. But the pizza was crispy. Lovely base and the toppings were nice. There is two seats at the window here but otherwise it is take out. Eat on the street food.

Made the mistake of listening to previous reviews on here for Rays pizza. It’s absolutely awful, dry tasteless pizza. And this was after the pub when usually anything tastes delicious. Avoid at all costs. Much nicer places around to get a slice.

I guess I made the mistake of coming to Ray’s BEFORE hitting up the pub. Pizzas are cheap but not spectacular. They have many different types, I stuck with a tried and true slice of typical ol’ Pepperoni. It was dry. Chips on the other hand were piping hot and tasty. Should have skipped the pizza altogether. The dining area was a hot mess, littered with leftover plates and crumbs of pizza past. Not very appetizing while sober, but might be able to overlook it after a few pints!

Ray’s is a great place to get a slice or two after a few pints at the pub. The pizza is excellent there; tasty, fresh and with some yummy options and the Brazilian guy is always friendly. It’s always a nice treat.

God! I luv their pizza. I always get either margarita or the one with spinach and goat cheese! Omio dio. The Brazilian guy who works there is very sweet and he takes care of the vegetarians, as he doesn’t use the same knife and tools to cut the vegetarian and non vegetarian pizza. the only drop back is that they only accept cash. Still its a must try

Tried Ray’s very early when I woke up in the wee hours this morning. There were about 10 people in line ahead of me, including one very drunk fellow trying to stay on his feet and chat up every young girl(most of whom were wearing high heels and short skirts from a long night of entertainment). It took about 15 minutes to get to the front of the line. To be fair, there were only 2 people working, and I suspect they were winding down what they had available because closing time was approaching. So they probably had to make some of the items to order for people ahead of me. The pizza is definitely NY-style and does the classic fold-over quite nicely. Lots of cornmeal on the bottom, which I don’t mind. I like the added texture and flavor. My slice of cheese pizza had almost no sauce, and not much cheese. Actually, I don’t mind that too much, either. I like a good crust, and this was pretty good. I thought the slice was a little under-seasoned for my taste. I wouldn’t hold this up to «good» NY-style pizza in the U.S., especially in NYC, but it is probably the best version that I’ve had in Dublin. Overall, though, it cost only 2.50 and with a can of soda, the total came in at 4.00 euros. Quite a decent meal at a price that can’t be beaten in Dublin. I might not rush back, but if I have a pizza craving, I’d think of Ray’s again. I’d really like to give them a try close to the time they open, to get a sense of the place when they have a selection of pizzas out and when there isn’t the«added» entertainment of drunken club/pub goers in the line. On the other hand, I can see why so many people do go there after a long night. The staff was very tolerant, but did manage to get that one nuisance fellow to finally leave. They were very polite to all the people who came in, no matter their condition or order. So, probably a great place to feel at home if you’re tipsy, hungry, and looking for decent pizza at a good value.

I decided to write this review today as I wanted it so bad last night after the concert, but had no possible way to get there. I truly believe that the road to hangover freedom is paved with Ray’s pizza. Every time I have had this after a night of drinking the hangover the next day is less severe or I have none at all! There’s even been times when the last Luas was due in 6 minutes at Harcourt and I’ve ran to Ray’s and back and still made the Luas, sure there’s the risk of missing the last Luas but it’s one I often take. I usually go for a slice of the pepperoni and then it’s happy days, there’s even been some nights where I’ve gone for two slices, horrible I know but I can’t resist sometimes!

Famous Ray’s Breakfast Pizza(it’s the best bits of a fry on a pizza, where could you go wrong?) changed my life… I love it so much I tend to come here after a night out but I have also had leftover pizza the next day(mmmmm) and it is still totally worthy of five stars.

This place provides the perfect post-pub, on-the-way-home snack. I always go for the pepperoni, nom nom. Quick and tasty. I highly recommend Rays Pizza

Who would have thought that Ray’s made it all the way to Dublin, Ireland? But it has. During my time in Dublin, I saw a couple of Ray’s but never expected that I would end up eating here. But I did. It was one of those nights… different story. But Ray’s is delicious and very affordable. I got the plain cheese and covered it with crushed red pepper, I like mine spicy. The crust was perfect-chewy and not burned on the bottom. I have actually never been to a Ray’s in the States. I may have to do that when I get back and see if it is as good as it is in Ireland.

I’m still searching for that perfect American slice… I had great hope in Rays — that counter, those pies, that glow of grease. But sadly, I’ve been let down. Yes the slices are big, but the base is rather flimsy. Yes there’s pepperoni aplenty, but the rounds are small and don’t fill those wedges the way I’ve known many an NYC slice to. The crust isn’t tear-able, the sauce is sweet… I suppose all it means is that there is no way of recreating the American pie abroad, and I should just settle for Ray’s as a replacement for post-pub nibbles. I should… I CAN’T! My search continues…

Is it Famous Ray’s? No, it’s original Ray’s. Famous Original Ray’s? Just Original Jerry! Sadly, Seinfeld isn’t as big of a hit over here in ireland as it is the states, but the show always captures quintessential New York ideas. In NYC, there’s a running joke about Famous Ray’s Pizza. the reason being is that there’s over a dozen shops, that aren’t connected, all with the names varying in their usage of Ray, Original, and Famous. So when I saw one open on Harcourt St. I was intrigued … yes someone who finally understands the concept of pizza!!! I am a big believer that the epicentre of the pizza universe is NYC and obviously the owner of the shop recognizes that and understands the joy of a NY pizza slice. Now I have to say that the pizza doesn’t live up exactly to the standards of a real NYC pizza(how could it, it’s all about the water — same with beers and bagels– so unless he was having nyc water shipped over by the tonne he wouldn’t), but I have to say it’s one mean slice of pizza. It’s wonderful to see that they haven’t just taken some mass produced frozen pizza, shoved it in an oven and charge you an arm and a leg for it. It’s also nice to be able to go into a shop and see the wares in front of you and choose what slice you want. If you’re an expat like me and you’re looking for a little slice of home, it’s not a bad deal at all.

Getting a good slice of pizza at 2am can be an ordeal in Dublin. Check out Ray’s and you won’t need to look further for your drunken slice. This tiny pizza place isn’t only cheap, but you will get a large, fresh and tasty slice, not the one that has been sitting in a heated box for hours. It’s also hard to find a friendlier staff who will always greet you with a big smile, probably because they know that they are awesome. The only downer is its small size and popularity and if in the mood for a post-pub pizza slice you will most likely need to queue outside for a while.

Oh yum!!! Huge triangles of New York-style goodness… ahhhhhhh!!! Ray’s Pizza is spectacular, I am a massive fan! You know it’s not healthy, in fact you can see the oil dripping off the cheese pizza, but sometimes you just NEED a slice of Ray’s to brighten up your life(or to stem off tomorrow’s hangover). At only 3 euro for a cheese slice you’re absolutely laughing(or buy a massive pizza for around 20 euro… yum yum!)

I’m a pretty big fan of Ray’s. It’s generally pretty unusual for pizza to impress me, but I would certainly place Ray’s pizza on a higher rung of the pizza ladder. This is proper, old school New York pizza. Big doughy, cheesy slices topped with all manner of unhealthy meat. None of your fancy stone baked, thin base Italian classic topped with parma and rocket crap, if you want to fill up, hit Ray’s. A plain cheese slice will set you back 3 €, while any kind of a slice with toppings is upwards of 4 €. This may sound a little pricey for just a slice, but a slice would do for your dinner. This is New York style pizza, and New York style portions. Hop in around 3am after being in one of the clubs on Harcourt st. and it will taste even better.

I love Ray’s!!! It does great pizza, particularly at 4am. I have to say, I go here a lot after a night out and it’s so so good. It’s just a tiny little pizza joint where you can get humongous pizza slices. One slice and you’re full, two and you are STUFFED! My favourite is without a doubt the breakfast pizza — sounds gross I know, but trust me you’ll love it! Basically it’s a fry, on a pizza. Rasher, sausage, pudding… Healthy, right? I can’t recommend this place enough. The staff are super friendly as are the clientele. Everyone who’s had a few drinks and is eating pizza at 4am is in great form!
