I booked a table for four of us for my husbands Birthday. When we arrived, no table was available so we had to walk around to find another restaurant in the rain at 8pm on a Saturday, I wrote an email in to complain about our booking and got a really nice reply. Here it is «We’re obviously very sorry to hear what happened and we’d love for you to come back in for a free round of pizza and drinks for the 4 of you. Just let me know when you’re next available and I’ll get it sorted for you… Thanks a million, Erica Bridgeman.» Great I thought, However, when I emailed back to book I got no reply so I phoned and guess what, nobody knew what I was talking about and of course two phone calls and two emails later, they still haven’t returned my calls or emails. Why offer to make good on their mistakes if they don’t follow through.

The Big Blue Bus is great for a later night snack! Beware the LONGEST queue for pizza happens during peak hours! The pizzas are creatively named and have a lot of topping options. It sucks that there is basically a single topping(if that) per slice. They have a deal worked out with GB Shaw, where you can get a pint and pizza for 11 quid. It’s a good deal, but in that case just get a cheese pizza so you’re not too disappointed. Pros: great location inside GB shaw, seating in the top of the bus, crispy/this crust pizza Cons: skimp on toppings, queue will be super long, it is inside GB shaw!

My favorite place to eat in dublin. The pizza is super yummy and self-made *.*. I really enjoyed it. In addition there are many food deals which makes it cheaper and much more worth it to eat in this fancy bus! #favorite hipster place

I didnt even no this bus was around Dublin! Im delighted! I first came upon the big blue bus at Knockanstockan festival down by blessington lakes. Now from what I can remember the pizza was amazing but saying that it was a festival and it was into the 2nd day so I can just remember eating a whole pizza to meself on me own on top of a bus. when I returned home after the weekend of madness I asked meself.“was i really on top of a double decker blue bus eating a great goats cheese pizza?”. well now I can reasure myself I was. and im not crazy.(maybe just abit).

Despite having known about this spot for years, I find the hipster enclave that gathers at the Bernard Shaw every weekend a bit tiresome so I tend not to get to this part of Dublin city that much. However, I was having a bit of a pizza moment, and so was determined to try out some of the best pizza places in Dublin. It was a particularly overcast November day and as it was late afternoon my partner and I decided to try this place out while there still would be seats available before the evening crowds. We received a lukewarm reception from the staff just inside the door of the bus, who reminded us that there were tables reserved for that evening, which suited us as we had evening plans and wanted a quick bite to eat. There were only two other tables occupied upstairs when we arrived. Located in the smoking area to the back of the Bernard Shaw, you’re afforded a bird’s eye view of the crowds below. Which is a fun distraction, and people watching is a hobby of mine! The top floor of the double decker bus is kitted out in the mix n match picked-up-in-a-charity-shop décor thats so popular amongst hipster dining establishments in recent years. The warm glow of the ikea table lamps and the well loved cushions were welcoming on this drizzly evening. The pizza selection isn’t extensive(which is a good thing — do a few things but do them well), you order off a one page menu, going downstairs to the front entrance to place your order. The menu offered about 3 vegetarian options, my feta pizza was served in a rustic style, piled high with rocket. It was tasty, and my companion enjoyed his goats cheese pizza. Not especially memorable, but we enjoyed our food. This place would be great for a date, as due to limited seating it’ll never get too crowded, and the muted lighting lend an air of intimacy to the atmosphere. Perfect in the summer or winter.

Amazing pizza! You can eat inside the bus at the top deck or outside at the Bernard Shaw. They also offer a good beer+pizza deal. On a crowded night(usually weekends) you will probably have to wait a while and friends will end up stealing a slice off your plate so make sure you order enough for everyone.

Big Blue Bus! The bus(yes, I said bus) is parked up in the back area of the Bernard Shaw pub on Richmond Street. The pub itself does’t look like much from the front but when head on out the back to the ultra funky hangout area you will find the bus. Seriously good pizza’s! You can choose from a great selection of pizza and I’m sure you can even create your own if you ask. Pizzas are all around the 10 euro mark and are of decent size, on pizza would be enough for a main course… but you’ll want more! there was a pizza and pint deal offer too — I think it was 11 euro… not bad at all. You can choose to sit on the top deck of the bus or outside. both are good options! This place reminded me of the type of funky restaurant/bars you would find in Melbourne, great vibe and we will be back for more pizza. :)

Holy moley, this pizza is good! I usually go for the pepperoni, though through my friends I’ve(sadly) tasted almost all of the pizzas on the menu. Nothing disappoints. Every bar should have a bus serving pizza, best concept ever! If you head in during the week for their pizza and a pint deal, it’s a real steal! I sadly find myself here too often then I’d like to admit…

This week was instantly up there as one of the best weeks ever the moment I found out that my name had been chosen as one of the«you get a free pizza this week if this is your name» names by The Big Blue Bus. To say I was excited about it would be doing a great disservice to my emotions, and thankfully the fine people from The Big Blue Bus did not disappoint. Let me put it this way; the experience was well worth the infuriating effort of trying to find a parking space outside for about 25minutes. The outside area behind the Bernard Shaw on a sunny afternoon feels like a scene from some cool hipster music video; with a host of cool peeps lounging around, playing pool, soaking up the rays with a pint and a pizza, and generally just looking cool-as-a-cucumber and nonchalant, as hipsters tend to do. Now to the pizza: Yep it was delicious, and worth every cent that I did not pay for it. What’s more, the staff were friendly and fun and more than happy to adjust the pizza to your liking(we decided to add chilli jam to our pizzas; a wierd but enjoyable addition, not sure if I’d choose it again, mind you) At € 8.50 for a whole pizza/€ 11 for a pizza & pint, I’d consider it good enough value to go back even when I can’t get it for free!

Best pizzas ever!!! Cool place, friendly staff, cheap prizes. A must try if you are in Dublin! The wait is about 10 minutes on a quiet night 20 – 40 mins on Friday or Saturday.

The Big Blue bus does tasty pizzas, but with room for only 2 staff cooking at a time, and a natural audience of the entire Bernard Shaw, I’ve had to wait for 2 hours for my food before. If you go on a quiet night though, they do very tasty pizzas. They’re small, but still tasty. I would not recommend this place for dinner, the portions won’t do, really. But if you’re looking for a mid-sesh snack, the bus is perfect!

This is really the best pizza in town! Thin crusted, fresh toppings, friendly service. Paulie’s is also good pizza but less straight forward. This is pizza in it’s truest comfort food form. Orlando

This is a wonderful place for a casual meal out that’s not too expensive. It’s € 8⁄9 for a pizza and € 10 for a Pizza and Pint before 8 I think. Sure, it’s not particularly fast but what’s the hurry. It’s the kind of place you go to chill out for the evening. Also 2 cocktails for € 10 in the pub, and you can bring them on to the bus. :)

The big blue bus is one of the quirkiest, cooliest places I have ever eaten in. Don’t expect nice silverware, waitresses and waiters abundant or an al a carte menu. Expect the following… A big blue bus in a pubs courtyard(The Bernard Shaw) lots of students Lots of really really nice pizza at cheap prices and a great place to eat that’s a bit different. I really like this place and the pizza is excellent. Due to the size and the number of people it can be a bit slow to get your pizza, so you might as well get a pint first! There are tables on the top deck of the bus for people to sit at and the kitchen is basically in the Bus Cab. All in all I love it…(no five stars as it can be a bit slow due to popularity, its not there fault but you can be waiting a while)

The big blue bus is fun. We came back to have some more of their yummy pizza after sampling some at the big Unilocal Backyard Bazaar a few weeks ago. After ordering, we found the upstairs quite full and noisy. We joined two people who were already seated at the big table at the front of the top deck. Falling into conversation with two nice guys, we waited for out pizza. And waited. And waited. We were warned after ordering that there was a 40 minute wait. We shrugged and thought that was OK, we can wait. After an hour five, maybe an hour ten later we got our pizzas. Which BTW were very yummy and very good value. So I recommend you don’t, like us, come here hungry, come for the experience. Because it is worth it.

There is something still exciting to me about a double decker bus. Maybe it’s the memories I associate with it, when my Mam would treat me as a young one with a trip to the Big Smoke and she’d giggle with me as we ran up the stairs and took a seat at the back. It’s the view. The sense of being really big especially when you are a five year old. That magic of going up the stairs is still not lost on me. But it’s infinitely better when you can sit at a booth and eat pizza and have a few drinks looking at the people below. Great, cheap pizza. Excellent location. Bar on site and great tunes and no mean bus conductor — win win!
