Myself and the missus stopped in for Saturday lunch. The restaurant had a good few customers giving it a nice atmosphere and the staff were verb friendly and helpful. Service was good, food was fresh, we had salads(my missus had the Superfood and I had the confit Duck warm salad, very tasty and I would have that again. Chips on the side were excellent, glass of house white too was delicious accompanied with a complimentary large bottle of house sparkling water and went well with the salads. Coffees after were perfect. The bill at the end came to € 30. Overall, this s good spot for a relaxing lunch in a nice neighbourhood with some good shops nearby.

This restaurant was a present place to eat with a relaxed and warm atmosphere but in my opinion the staff could have been more sociable. The food in my opinion let the restaurant down. My chowder was served at a temperature the sun would struggle to reach resulting in the flavour been lost and my steak was delivered well done despite me requesting it to be medium rare. This is something that I find particular annoying because it is such an easily avoided mistake. Besides that the fries and ice cream were delicious and I would be happy to eat here again.

We ventured out for a walk around Dun Laoghaire and ended up in Monkstown. We decided to sit outside Seapoint, they have a little terrace patio area just to the right of the restaurant, through an archway, its completely covered. We enjoyed a couple of carafes of red wine — the wine list at Seapoint is really good, lots of choice by glass, carafe and bottle. With our red wine, we had one of their sharing boards, ‘Selection of Italian meats, olives, tapenade, artichokes, courgettes’(€ 12.50pp) and also a plate of 3 cheeses(€ 6.75). We loved the charcuterie, a great selection of salamis and hams, grilled vegetables — percect accompaniment to our wine! The cheeses were great, big wedges of farmhouse style cheeses, crackers, grapes. I love this kind of food, sharing platters and boards — picking and choosing and enjoyed nice red wine with it. This is a great spot in Monkstown and somewhere we will return to.

Absolutely recommended! We were looking for the perfect ‘fish&chips’ for our friend who visited us… He is terribly fussy about food so we were ready for the night long complain… We have never been here before but apparently that was our best choice this weekend. The food is absolutely fantastic, the staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is perfect and the Crème Brule… Hmmmmm…

The Monkfish was delicious as a main course as was the scallops starter. Are as part of a party of six and all are planning on returning in the near future.

Happened upon the Seapoint Restaurant in Monkstown — what a fabulous restaurant! The seafood chowder was fantastic. Our main courses included lamb, monk fish and chicken and all were gourmet, with great presentation. The red & white wine(and Jameson) were good also.

Well, it wasn’t great. The food was ok, most cutlery bought in Ikea. In fact the place felt like it was a showroom in Ikea. The proprietor is a gentleman though. Visits the tables making sure that everyone is happy. Lovely touch

Had lunch here last week with two other family members and we were all really impressed with the quality of the food especially the duck livers for starters and the cod as mains. Service was polite and efficient: a nice place with nice food.

On a trip to Ireland, and after a long drive back from the Cliffs of Moher, I found this place on Unilocal.Hard to find as Unilocal’s map sort of sucked, but once we got there my family and I had one of the best seafood meal’s we’ve had, and I’m from Florida and live with NYC level food every day. The scallops with black pudding were unique, the pickled cucumber and shrimp divine, and the wine selection was great. But what was even better was that the owner pointed us to other places around Dublin of equally high quality for the rest of our stay!

This was again one of those restaurants I kept meaning to go to but never quite managed it… until my cousin came to stay and we wanted to go out on a Monday night. Apparently all restaurants close on a Monday night which I found out after trying 6 of them in the Dun Laoghaire area… okay I exaggerate a bit but not much before other restaurants start complaining that they are also open on a Monday night. In desperation and with sweated brow we pulled up outside to see if they were also closed. Okay the lovely man did seem a little surprised by my desperation and instance in wanting to book a table for that night… as his reservation book was empty… which was a little worrying but as I said I was desperate. It was a case of eating out or me cooking. Later that evening we arrived(by Taxi so I could drink more than ½ glass of wine), we were greeted, shown to a table and given the usual wine list and menu. Please note my order of priority. The place was busy and filling up fast — either by fans or people who also had a problem finding a restaurant open on a Monday night! The wine list I did not look at as my cousin was in charge of that but as we have a similar taste I was quite happy for him to choose. Menu was extensive and also a small section for an early bird but not huge selection. There was also a huge blackboard(which I would have preferred) type thing with little letters type giving another display of offers that day. By the way I am not knocking points off for not having a proper blackboard as they may have writing like mine and also blackboards have not been invented yet with spell check. Back to the wine it was good and the food was excellent. I had Irish ice cream for dessert which was a HUGE disappointment but I am not knocking any points off because it is not really their fault but they could sell better. Best would be if they made their own. I bought a great gadget for making ice cream and sorbet which admittedly I have not tried as yet but I have made ice cream from scratch and it is not that difficult to make superb Ice cream. I guess somewhere selling ‘Irish’ ice cream does not guarantee good ice cream. The staff were excellent and there is a nifty place outside where you can have a cigarette… or eat I suppose as the staff were happy to bring desert out to you. Now the outside seating area was… excellent, comfy seats with a decent heater and also covers and cushions. I will be back… in fact I was later in the week with my mother who is a little deaf and as there were a few tables taken up by a gaggle of cackles — sorry ladies– but the staff — without our asking moved us to a quieter table. The food was as good as before. Small disappointment was that scallops were served without the coral which we happen to like. We found out that there is also an area upstairs which can be booked for private parties. Best bit — they are open EVERY day but you would need to check the times on their web site which I just looked at and saw they also do take out!

Mothers Day. Me, the brother, wives and assorted teenagers fetch up here for lunch. Parking around here a bit of a mare especially as I’m pretty sure they have a local ordinance banning cars older than 3 years old, non German or less than 2 litres, exceptions granted for the odd Lexus with written permission. Anyway, place was leppin as you’d expect for the day that’s in it. One odd touch, though. On the way in, the Muzak was White Christmas. In April. Thereafter, it was Van the Man and Mickey Bubbles, the famous Canadian crooner, all the way so that was ok then. Prosecos for the adults, cokes for teenagers and designated drivers, starters were excellent(salads, sausage and foie gras all deemed superb). Mains were largely fishy — bream and salmon mostly with one of the party opting for pork belly, excellent chips, albeit girly portions, all washed down by a very acceptable Pinot Grigio. Desserts were, I’m assured, to die for — pie, ice cream and chocolate mousse. Again, all good, no complaints. The brother paid but as they have a great value 2 course for € 25, 3 for € 30, he can afford it. We will most definitely be back. Highly recommended.

We’ll be back. The food is interesting and very tasty: the tian of crab, kiwi and blood grapfruit is delicious; the scallops for the main perfectly caramelised; the rosemary salted fries(with, is that parmesan) are so very moreish.(I tend to avoid«side orders», but the chips are worth it.) It’s not recession busting prices or super-sized portions, but I do think it’s worth it. One starter, two main, no wine for just over € 50. Hard to explain, but the proprietor(Shane) made a great first impression over the phone and gave impression of being back-bendingly accommodating. His enthusiasm seems to have infected the entire staff. It was busy on this Saturday night, so don’t be shy about booking.(I’ll hold onto the fifth star until I’ve been more than once!)
