I love this shop, it has the best selection of clothes anywhere. APC, David Szeto and Martin Margiela are my favourite designers, guaranteed to make any rainy Dublin day, seem a bit brighter. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and the owners seem to go for quality than follow trends I put a deposit on a really cute printed dress by Rachel Comey, and the girl in the shop said i could pay it off over 6 weeks! I tried on a whole load of stuff and she gave me some really good advise. For the style of shop and what they sell, it is very relaxed and chilled out.

Gorgeous and dreamy, Smock has all the beauties to make a girl’s wardrobe pop. Mind you, it’s not cheap, but this is a great instance of getting the best of what you pay for. There’s no end to star-quality labels on the shoes and frocks here, and while the shop and service can feel a bit claustrophobic, a visit is always delightful. Co-owner Karen Crawford is in most days(manning the quiet floor on my late afternoon stop-in) and very eager to help. Shoppers would do well to take any of the hip advice she gives; the woman is in cahoots with serious stylistas(having introduced a few luxury brands to Ireland over the past few years) and has popped up on the radar of the Irish Times and an absolute avalanche of style blogs. As is often the case, my visit was a «look, don’t touch» exercise, as the sizes stocked here are generally geared to the more petite shoppers. Ah, so goes fashion.

Smock is a hip little boutique that is incredibly curated. Yes, I said curated — like a museum. This store is literally a museum of beautiful things that I will never be able to afford. The merchandise is made up of really special apparel and accessories. With offerings from Rittenhouse, Vivienne Westwood, APC, Acne Jeans and Vanessa Bruno, the owners have done a lovely job creating a unified vision of the woman who shops here. She’s pretty special, if you ask me. And rich as shit. My favorite items were from Tsumori Chisato; the whimsical printed scarves were so tongue-in-cheek and beautiful. One thing I really hated was that the sales assistant basically followed me around the very small store. It’s not like she couldn’t see what I was doing from the desk… it just made me feel really awkward and kind of like a criminal even though I didn’t even pick anything up, let alone steal it. Big downer.
