Dudes have recently had a face lift and it’s great… Previously it use to be a little where, what, how to I do order but new layout is on the money. Grand olé café on the southbound platform where ye can chill, grab a snack or bite to eat… It does itself proud with some nice healthy fruit and juice options plus the usual naughty but nice things like crisps and chocolate. They have a huge range of teas available plus coffee, barista made however for me, it falls short of the quality I need in a coffee but hey, opting for an americano, tea or hot chocolate and ye can’t go wrong… Or order from their juice options. Also worth noting everything is priced reasonably ;-)

A long train ride south can be a real drag(see what I did there?) but if you can manage a stop at Sobo Juice in Pearse Street Station, there’s a lovely surprise to help pass the time. My hat’s off to whoever thought to put a used books rack in this otherwise anonymous station café! The selection is slim, mostly crime thrillers and chick lit for under € 7, but when you’re heading for the far reaches of Wicklow with nothing but an abandoned Herald AM, those books could be made of gold. The service is prompt here and your € 2.50 Americano(scorching but watery) is delivered quickly along with a genuine smile from the barista. There’s a long list of smoothies and blended juices, plus the usual bagels, ice cream, soups and sweets to fortify you on your journey.
