Authentic italian trattoria! Excellent food and great service. One of the best italian pizza that I’ve tried in Dublin. Great lunch menu for 9 €!. The only con is that the tables are too small that is a bit uncomfortable. Good value for money!

Some changes have occurred here, and not for the best. The potato pizza is now a heavier proposition, the addition of some sort of bechemel type sauce has ruined it. This was a thin crispy offering with lots of rosemary and black pepper, now it’s a bit flaccid Looks like some of the ingredients have changed too, anchovies do not look great and the salami looks very generic. Espresso is excellent.

One of the best italian places in dublin as have a food food by a good price. The only negative thing: why are you using can mushrooms? That soo bad. However the caprese salad and the prosciutto is so good. Is a small place which not always has space for everyone, which is a pity, however once the accepted 12 of us at 10p.m. and we had dinner there and they were super nice with us.

Food arrived over an hour late with 1 meal missing. We called them and the owner was very rude from the beginning. She said that they would send a pizza tomorrow as they were closing. I was really hungry and a pizza tomorrow wouldn’t help me so I asked for the money back instead. She said that she could send the money for the item back tomorrow. I find it unacceptable to have to wait for over an hour for not having your food or your money. She said that I should understand that HUMANSMAKEMISTAKESESPECIALLYWHENTHEYWORKOVER12HOURS A DAY — THENHUNGUPTHEPHONEONME!!! So basically they not only exploit their customers but also their staff and don’t see any problem with it! Seriously?!

Not bad– but I’m a little one sided with my pizza cuz I’m from NYC and we all know that’s where the best pizza in the world is made! Haha but this place was pretty good, pizza was decent. I had the 12 inch margarita pizza and a slice of their eggplant pizza. Place is very small though.

Pizzas are not bad. The staff was not very respectful for their clients, they was talking and laughing together in Italian very loudy, they went in and out of the pizzeria every 5min, there was friends of them they came to have a drink in the bar, they was noisy too. I am not sure I will go back.

I used to love this place, but they broke my heart too many times. The food is graet, but the service is bad time and again. I worked for years in the restaurant game, so i have patience and real understanding, but not after the last few times. First issue: My wife(Italian with glasses) and I were there before, had a full meal, dessert, lots of wine, the owner said to a staff member, in Italian; ‘Drop the cill on the tables for 4 eyes and the big one, get them out.’ Couldn’t beleive it, my wife’s face just fell, she was so shocked. She refuses to go again. Second issue: I went back again with a friend at 5:40pm, we sat and were given the early bird menu, which runs until 6. I asked for the full menu, as it was 20 mins, we could have a drink. Waitress says no, dinner isn’t until 7. I look through the window at the 2 chefs, both standing staring back, spotless kitchen, arms crossed, doing nothing. Useless. The owner is really rude, barking horribly at the staff. Food is great, but so many insults.

Tiny and very cute restaurant with a fantastic waitress working. I didn’t have the pizza and plan to go back and try that as well, so this review might update then. I did have the lasagna and my date has some cheese pasta thing. Both were very good.

Good quality ingredients, simple Italian cooking. Price is good, the place is small so not great for big groups. Its exactly what a basic Italian should be — Recommended :)

Stopped here on a Saturday for dinner. We ordered a stater of bruschetta, which was quite flavourful, maybe a little heavy on the garlic for some, but I thought it was delicious. Our server was very friendly and very Italian. After ordering 4 different slices to split between the two of us, she revised our order to 3, saying if we were still hungry she would bring us another, but 4 was too much. Rather than feeling alienated or maybe too big for my britches(literally) her suggestion was right on the money. The pizza was so filling and absolutely hit the spot. I love that they serve by the slice and you can see the pizza through the window before ordering. Definitely will go back.

Had a quick bite of lunch here earlier. Small, poky premises with a bit of outdoor seating, its pretty nondescript. Reminded me a lot of the generic family run restaurants you see when holidaying in tourist resorts in the Med. The staff were quite friendly and were able to accommodate our too-large buggy in the otherwise tiny eatery. We opted for the lunch special(small selection of starters + pasta/2 x slice of pizza and a soft drink) for 9.50 a pop. I had the vegetable soup to begin, which definitely tasted like vegetable soup. Nothing more to say about it. The OH had a large slice of bruschetta, painted with olive oil and garlic. She quite enjoyed it. We followed this with 2 x slice of pizza each. They were large and rectangular, and I devoured them with my hands, cutlery be damned. I had mushroom and pepperoni and she had blue cheese and pancetta. The bases are quite light, crispy and airy and the mozzarella shone through as fresh and creamy. Each bite was a pleasure. We’ll be back to try out their famous Calzone(only served after 6pm) one evening. Quite nice pizza, okay everything else.

I disappointingly have to give this 2 stars. I chose it over pasta fresca but kinda wish I hadn’t. I had tomato bruschetta for starter but it was drowned with olive oil, smothered in garlic and slightly burnt. For main I had beef but it was just bits of beef with mushroom. No real flavour at all. I was also sitting right beside the door where everyone came in for take away pizza which was very annoying. On a positive note, the take away pizza looked impressive. Hate to moan but they really need to work on their non pizza dishes.

At first, I thought I had stumbled upon a regular pizza shop. You look through the glass and pick a slice. The manager was busy counting change at the register and didn’t even greet me. I was going to walk out, but hunger made me ask questions. I told her straight up, that I’m new here and can’t decide on what to get. She became helpful and told me, per slice is € 3.75. I looked around and noticed people with a personal whole thin crust pizzas. They looked good, so I said screw the slice ‘I want that’. I ordered the: Bianca — Italian cooked ham, mushroom, and cream. € 12.55 ~Right out of the oven, this huge pizza was simply superb! The mushrooms were soft, the ham was perfect, and the combo of mozzarella and cream was just heavenly. I ended up ordering a Gustosa Salad as well, € 7.95 ~A fresh salad, in which I added capers on the side. It had a balsamic aroma and the goat cheese just made this dish devine! As far as the place in general, they were playing both Italian and classic 80s music which was really cool. The dining was clean, as was the restrooms. A couple of nights later, I ordered the Calzone Fattoria: w/fresh Italian sausage, mozzarella tossed in garlic sauce olive oil and parsley. € 13.00 ~Now this was a calzone work of art. I devoured the whole thing in an hour. I love love love this place, and the cashier/manager lady! Tips: 1) Round pizzas served after 6pm 2) Enjoy your pizza with a Peroni! 3) CASHONLY

It is hard to find a good deep dish Sicilian pizza, but Steps of Rome have succeeded. I love to grab a slice from here. Two thumbs up :-)

There’s a spot in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood that I would frequent back in the day. It’s name: The Steps of Rome. So, when my boyfriend suggested we stop here, I was all over it. We ordered two slices of pizza and enjoyed them outside. The pizza is fabulous! We tried pepperoni and cheese and also ham and artichoke — thick with cheese and melt-in-your-mouth tastiness! The outside area is very sweet and protected from the wind and rain. However, I peeked in the window and took a look at the indoor dining space and it appeared very inviting with its warm lighting and décor. This is a great spot to grab a bite before you indulge in a pint. I highly recommend it! More pepperoni please… :)

Always busy, always chaotic looking but really, there is an order here that turns the old swan analogy right on its head(calm on the surface frantic under the water) The place is small, and this lends itself to the whole chaotic feel but it is well run and the food is great, you see trays and trays of pre-made pizza and you can order slices of whatever you feel like. Wifey likes the potato pizza — personally I don’t get it, I much prefer the salami or some of the others. The pizza base looks heavy but actually it’s really light and crispy, maybe a bit oily but I reckon that’s the Italian way and tasty for it. The house wine isn’t expensive but I think its the one bad move they have made — and have done ever since I have started coming here, it is rarely of great quality! — deffo worth spending a bit more if you can! Yup, like it a lot!

I don’t think that Steps of Rome is a family-unfriendly restaurant. It’s just that they’re a little… family-agnostic. It’s almost a stereotypical Italian place. When we arrived, there was a few couples(all whispered conversations and sweet-nothings), and a group of rowdy Italians(all shouted jokes and waving arms). Just walking in the door, I knew this was my kind of place. The service was fast, and better than most places. I didn’t envy the waitress who had to explain that the restaurant couldn’t accommodate a potential customers pram. The food was delicious, I’m just a bit gutted I didn’t get to try the pizza. I’ll be back though. So this place is perfect for a couple, or for a bit of banter with your mates. If you’re looking for somewhere to feed your kids though, try Pasta Fresca next door.
