The Bram(named in honour of Dracula author Bram Stoker, former president of the university’s Philosophical Society based within this building) is located on the top floor of Trinity’s General Memorial Building. Much to my great relief and contentment the original Edwardian fittings have been preserved. The room exudes an overwhelming rousing spirit, a moral fibre that is as inspirational as it is unique. The room is primarily used by members of Trinity’s renowned Philosophical Society to carry out their administration work. Through knowing a friend in the society I have often ventured there to study — a typically arduous task made much easier within such a rousing room. The distinctive historic aura about the room makes my thoughts so much more free-flowing, my streams of consciousness are able to scurry in a way significantly more liberal owing to the stirring ambience existent within this special space. Unlike characteristic Edwardian style however the room’s clutter makes it appear more Victorian than anything with piles of old books and papers occupying the room. This of course adds to the charm and helps construct something authentic that you would associate with a bygone era.
