Much in the manner of most indie bookshops, this place is small with a surprisingly big and well chosen selection of books on offer. It’s the same in places like Raven books in Blackrock… the shop owners are geniuses when it comes to filtering out the crap I think I want to read and offering truly great books by brilliant authors. This is no less apparent than in the children’s section where there really is a lot of rubbish out there. There are however a lot of gems too, and this is one of the shops you are guaranteed to find them.

I asked if they could order an out of print book for me. It was difficult to source but… The owner had a second hand copy which she gave to me. Thank you! Good karma due here everyone.

This is another great store for present shopping. Good selection of Irish and international title(nothing like the library, or the big names in the bookshop business) but if you’re looking for a gift for an eccentric book-lover or the coffee-table book browser, you will most likely find something that hits the mark.

This is a great, wee bookstore in Ranelagh village. Because it is an independent bookstore, they might not have the same variety the bigger chains have, but they do have a very good selection of books available, especially in the travel section. The staff are very friendly and helpful and obviously love books, which is always great. If you’re looking for a particular book, this might not be the best place to start unless it is a current bestseller, but if you just want to have a look around or find a present for a book-mad friend you will probably find a good book here.
