Excellent Eastern European food with super good weekend specials with soup. The selection of beers is top notch and I appreciate being able to order by the pitcher. Service is also great! Truly a gem considering the tourist traps it’s close to!

It used to be good, was a good place for some Czech food, the food is still good, it’s the little things that take it down a peg; — Too dear: Mayo was € 1, mains aren’t cheap, maybe € 12 — € 15, you just get the main, all sides and veg are all an extra, so dinner is c. € 17/€ 18. — Bad atmosphere: Toys for kids are there, it’s a bar, not a crèche. Music pumped in and TVs on, corny 90s romantic pop music(Boyz 2 Men) playing too loudly and winter sports on screen at the same time. Was almost funny. — EVERY table booked nearly all the time, what the??? Maybe it’s just me but the last 6 or 7 times I’ve gone to eat I can’t, empty restaurant, all tables reserved. Senseless. — Awkward menus and offers, too expensive for what it is. Specials finish too early. — Staff can be rude.

Great little spot in Temple Bar — cheap drinks, good banter and most importantly friendly and helpful staff — dropped my last card outside the bar and got a message next day saying was found — nice one guys!

If you want to dance and it is late maybe you should go to this place. Located in the beginning of Temple Bar here you can find an international atmosphere with a great selection of beers and cocktails.

The only place in dublin where they’ll let you on the dancefloor with a battered sausage. And the only place in dublin where you’ll be left with a battered sausage the next morning, if you hook up with one of the girls there

Grand for a late late drink when options are running out. We went here for a drink after the Front Lounge as we were celebrating a birthday. It’s still full of people drunkenly trying to hook up at the end of the night but they serve until 3 and they have a decent selection of beers. It’s a good late night option when you really want that late last drink

So I went here again on a Saturday night and I was in for a great surprise. What an incredible mix of people. I saw everything: Men in suits, hipsters, long dresses, short dresses — I could go on. It was a great mix of nationalities as well but without the touristy vibe. I am coming back here for sure. This place is so much more than just a late bar!

This place has transformed into a cheap dungeon of petty thieves and also crawling with cheap yet excessively rude girls. The only reason why we went there is because of its convenient location when the clubs next to it fills up to much. Never again.

Avoid downstairs on a Friday night — there’s a live singer who shouts into the mic so unless you want your eardrums assaulted every time he destroys an Oasis song, venture on upstairs where there is a more pleasant, albeit uncharacteristic restaurant. Good selection of beer, bar staff a bit surly and there was a group of wide-eyed(!!!) Eastern Europeans in the corner table who sneaked out a bottle of Coke to top up their own glasses. Class.

Don’t go here! A sports bar app said this bar would show American football which is odd for a Czech bar but I went anyway. The bar keep was rude and didn’t care when I asked if the game would be shown. I promptly walked out. If that’s how you want to treat customers then you get no business. Sorry I’m a tourist and sorry you’re pubis located in temple bar which is a tourist trap but you’ll get much friendly service at other pubs down the block.

Czech Inn, its little Czech in Ireland. My previous visits were only for drinks, which was always a success; with their selection of foreign beers, and not just those which one can find everywhere nowadays. For example they have Gambrinus beer, one of the better brews of Belgium, a nice surprise indeed! This time I came with my team from work to eat as well, which was a new experience to me at this place. Unfortunately they scored not as good as I’d hoped they would… The Brie starter tasted nice, and it’s presentation was well done(see the picture I posted). The baskets of bread were tasty dark. The avocado starter turned out to be too hard and unripe, and we requested the Cesar Salad instead which was better. The unlucky ones of us, me included found out they didn’t have enough steaks for all of us, and when the ones that were served to be rare turned out to be very well done, or medium at best… Petty. Nor did they have enough steak-knives. Did we surprise them with our steak cravings maybe? The others were more lucky, as the chicken steak was excellent I heard, and their Duck was just the way they served it in Czech. The sour kraut with the pork dish was over cooked, minus point again unfortunately. After the eating was done we got a complementary round of Slivovice, a nice gesture. The strawberry gâteau was disappointing and the whipped cream? Well, to be honest that was a disaster out right. Than we headed downstairs to their dancing. It turned out to be almost deserted and had a sterile feeling about it, maybe the reason many people shone the place, even on a Friday night? Overall verdict: a nice place to come for good drinks, and taste the Czech atmosphere, having eaten somewhere else beforehand

Good atmosphere, service, layout, and drinks. I didn’t explore it too much(pretty much came in and sat down and stayed there) so I don’t have much more to say… but it was a lot of fun and still had places for people to sit at midnight on a Friday.

The Czech Inn is one hilarious place, and a real guilty pleasure of mine thanks to the back to basics feel about it which really does remind me of my happy times in Eastern Europe… BUTTHEY’VECHANGEDIT! They’ve gone and had a complete refitting of the(larger) downstairs area and turned it into«Club C»…complete with cream faux-leather booths, Ikea-style white tables, weird dark red stained glass, huge(flashing!) photos of people dressed like New York gangsters and pumping eurotrance… yes, a real porno-dungeon feel — it’s TERRIBLE. They’ve also stopped serving food down there. Upstairs, thank God, is still the same old homely and uncomplicated bar/restaurant with warm colours and a friendly atmosphere. I think my experience last night speaks volumes of the management’s refitting catastrophe: at 9pm in the downstairs porno-dungeon I counted three people(on a Saturday — INTEMPLEBAR) and then when I went upstairs, it was absolutely rammed(we actually chose to lean against the wall upstairs to enjoy the atmosphere rather than face the awkwardness of the cringeworthy«Club C»). The beer selection and prices are still the same thankfully, so if Eastern European pilsner in large quantities for fairly cheap prices is your cup of tea then the Czech Inn is still a winner(upstairs, that is!). If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Anyone who has read my reviews know that for me, it is all about the beer. Beer first, if there is food then that comes second. Otherwise it is down to atmosphere. Having spent a lot of time in Prague, I can honestly say that the Czech Inn is like a little taste of Prague, without making you believe you are actually there. I have only ever been there on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and it is usually a nice and relaxing atmosphere where I can sit and read a book or watch a game if there is one on. I can opt to read a complimentary newspaper if I like. Usually I will be quite happy with my beer though. Don’t even think of going in there and ordering a Guinness or Heineken. It amounts to the same as going on holiday and spending all your time in a crappy Irish pub instead of going where the locals hang out and drinking what they drink. I advise anyone to try the beers from the Herold brewery. The dark is especially wonderful. Don’t be put off by the colour, it is not a stout. It is a dark lager that is a little sweet, very malty with caramel and toffee dominating. A hint of coffee and fruitcake. Wonderful beer. The Semi-Dark is quite nice as is the Wheat Lager(blonde). The food? Traditional Czech fair meets Irish. This means if you can manage to finish a full meal, you are fairly impressive. A hock of bacon and a side of dumplings could feed 4 adults I reckon, and they expect one person to eat it! You will never go hungry in the Czech Inn!

It’s fine, it’s late night, decent pints. If you’re looking for sweet-tasting eastern lagers, it’s a good place. TERRIBLE music, though. Or awesome, if Whitney Houston and other 80s cheese is your thing. Like Colm. He loves it. It can be up and down– but they did mix the Black Eyed Peas right after Thriller. A crime, a crime, a desperate crime. On the up side– on late nights, the upstairs is open, so you can come in and sit and have a pint or sixteen without putting up with the scroggy music and scabby men desperate for sex. So… it’s OK, but I’d only go there if it were late night and I wanted to sit and drink.

never mind the crappy music, the overcrowding and all that, that’s already been covered… but when you’re craving a large brick, or three, of breaded and deep fried cheese, this is your place. every once in a blue moon(like, say, after a 3 day vegetables-only detox diet) i get that craving and i can think of no other place in town, or maybe even the planet, where i can satisfy that urge. the food is just a complete heart attack guaranteed but OHMYGOD is it delicious. like it’s so incredibly bad for you that you just can’t help but have a mouthgasm over it. and seriously, if you’re into cheese or meat or any combination of the two, go here. you may die younger, but at least you will have lived well. why only 3 stars? well, because, yeah, the place does get crazy and the dj’s make me want to kill but i still go there once in a while on a tuesday when nothing else is open and i’m tired of the usual late pubs. and when i feel like shortening my life. heh.

The place may be cheesy, and by this I mean fried brie is pretty awesome, it may be crowded at times where it is hard to find a table, and in the middle of the week there may not be enough servers, but I like the place. I’m tired of ‘pub food’; I’m tired of drinking the same thing night in and night out; I’m tired of just about everything with the pub culture in Ireland. The Czech Inn is a little bit of different in a city that specializes in only one thing; flat, flavorless food and beer. It’s nice to have a bit of selection when it comes to things to drink, and I love the food menu there. The boar goulash is frickin awesome along with fried cheese, deer steaks, and a wide variety of beef dishes. This place is not recommended for non-dairy vegetarians, it just doesn’t exist on the menu. The place is great for a medium-sized group that just want to eat, drink and chat. I went there for my birthday dinner and always have a good time there. With all that said, I’ve never been there at night. I generally don’t go to places like this, that are so close to Temple Bar, at night because I like to be chill. Go in the afternoon or early evening and you’ll have a good time.

The Czech Inn used to be called something else a couple years ago. It had a different name, but nothing really changed about the place. It’s kind of a dive bar that attracts a wide range of people, some older tourists and some young locals. I once brought my cousin here for her hen night and she got really upset with me because there were only 10 other people in the club. The music was super cheesy and because there’s a jukebox you’re subjected to other people’s bad taste. I still come here despite this disastrous night, but I only go during the day or early evening. The pub is quite and a good place to meet friends if you want to talk.

When in Rome… The old adage should be kept in mind here, that is don’t go in and order a Guinness. My Polish friend Goise took me here to sample some beer from her part of the world. She ordered a lot of beer and spirits to ‘teach me about how they drink.’ Dear Lord, I learnt my lesson thrice over. The place got suddenly really crazy around 8pm, which was a bit too much for me, it actually reminded me of the Irish pubs out in the Sunset area in San Francisco. Hard drinking stuff. I enjoyed it but I put that down to the fact that I was there with a ‘local’.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of the Czech Inn, but those guys from mainland Europe certainly seem to love it. I’ve been dragged there a few times by a bunch of French guys(which always makes life interesting) but it’s not somewhere I’d head of my own accord. I don’t know the name of it, but they serve a spirit(taken as a shot) that will knock your socks off… translation issues mean I will probably never know what it was, but I do know it was purple and lethal… so just ask for a shot of purple mank if you want to get your night off to a rocketing start. The overall vibe of the Czech Inn is a bit too much for me — loud blaring top 40s hits, huge screens displaying too many football matches and too many people screaming to hear each other above the roar. But there is a wide selection of European beers, so maybe try it during the day if you’re a beer connoisseur?
