Great pub, a little deceiving from the outside however this is quite spacious inside and has a little outdoor seating area if the weather permits/takes your fancy. Full bar, typical Irish pub set up… Don’t be expecting fancy frill cocktails, what you will get is a great olé cosy Irish pub with friendly staff. They have a food menu, served after 12!

I found this place after walking for blocks on a busy Dublin night. Pub crawl goin’ on, so all places packed. From the moment I got on the door, the staff were great! Found a standing spot at the bar and ordered up the Steak and Guiness pie. What a treat. A great hearty meal that was delicious. Good size portions, but I couldn’t finish it all in order to save room for the Apple Crumble desert. It was very good, tender apples, not to much Crumble and a good proportion of vanilla ice cream. A perfect Irish meal!

It’s not often you walk into a bar and asked if you’d like a free Guinness. We were there for rugby semi final match. A comfy bar but it does get overlooked when you have Keogh’s round the corner.

Needs a good thorough cleaning. The menu does not describe the meals particularly well so ask questions. Wait staff is efficient and pleasant. Our meals were tasteless and presented on budget type bread. I nicknamed The Duke — The Puke.

Food was ok, but very high price for quality of what you get. Had some drinks, but wasn’t anything special.

Love it here. A nice cosy tradition Irish pub in the centre of the city. Great food, atmosphere, staff and mixed clientele. Their Guinness and the stew is top notch Couldn’t say a bad thing about the Duke. It has everything.

Awesome place! We’re visiting from the US and stumbled across this place as we were wondering the streets of Dublin. We went in on a whim and were not disappointed. Great drink and staff. We missed the food but from the pictures it looks amazing! We will be back again before we head home.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We sat in the back room, it was spacious and comfortable. Ordered a cider & Guinness, a steak and burger for our dinner, along with potato skins. The potato skins were o-k, but didn’t pack much Taste. The steak was a ribeye, not too shabby,(but not the best I’ve had either) especially since my point of reference is steaks from Texas! The burger was good overall, nothing notable.

Great Location in the heart of Dublin close to St. Stephen’s square. 2 Levels and outside seating. Super Friendly Staff, very pleasant and helpful. Now for the best. The food! Wow — Just Amazing. The Irish Stew and Beef Pie were just delicious. Full of flavor and so tender Beer selection was great too A Must visit.

The Duke came highly recommended for dinner by John the bartender at nearby Kehoe’s Pub(another must stop!), and we weren’t disappointed! We were quickly seated at a small, cozy round table at the front of the pub by a most friendly gent. The food we ordered was served beautifully, and without delay. The nachos(OMG, best I’ve ever had!), bangers and mash and Guinness beef pie were all superb! Huge portions, and we were full to the gills when we left. This is clearly a go-to stop for the Friday night after work crowd, and it’s easy to see why. The place is busy without being overwhelming, and the food and service are great. We’ll surely stop by The Duke on our next visit to Dublin!

This is a nice enough pub! It is in the city center and in the summer they have a little outside area, which I love! The staff is super friendly and fast. The only downside is the price tag it comes with: 6,20 € for a pint of cider. yikes! Most pubs in the city center are expensive but anything over 6 euros just rubs me the wrong way! Because of that I think The Duke is not interesting enough to have one drink and too expensive to spend your evening there. But if you really have a thirst and your friend is buying, The Duke is a really nice place to be!

Famous and Historical pub in the heart of Dublin. Not quite as touristy as Temple Bar, but as usual, very friendly and fast service.

What I like about this place is that it has that genuine feel of being a Dublin pub given the location it is in with the not so Dublin pubs surrounding it. Lovely waiting staff even on a busy Friday night which to me really makes it feel like a local pub and I like that type of atmosphere and vibe. Very mixed clientele from tourists, to suits, to ruggers to regular folk just looking for a few pints. I wouldn’t say I am a regular but always end up here a few times throughout the year. A great place to go when you want to escape somewhere like the Grafton Lounge [which is my next review!]

A-Ok is probably the best way to describe The Duke. It is a pretty spacious bar, the prices are alright, and there are TVs well placed to catch a match. It can get loud and I’m sure it can get crowded. So why is it just A-Ok and not more, because it didn’t leave me much more to say…

Okay, a giant pub on two floors with O’Haras Pale Ale on tap — so plus for that. But I’ve been there on a Firday evening, and it was that crowded, that you almost could not turn around. So — that’s a no. In the End, is is a standard Pub, with good staff, nice interior and a good location. For me — rather meh than yeah.

I’m very fond of the Duke. It has many nooks and crannies that a fair sized group(4 – 8) can colonise and be relatively insulated from the rest of the pub. Great for catch up pints or as a staging post before heading on to a late venue. Has a fire too, so this place can act as a respite during Christmas shopping. If there’s one negative aspect its that it can get absolutely rammed during sporting events, so if you plan on watching anything here, get there early.

I actually came here to start the Literary Pub Crawl, but I arrived early and I had a very very good pint of Guinness. That’s all you need to know. Also, nice atmosphere, a great mix of locals and tourists. I really liked it. I’ll be back for a longer session.

You can’t go wrong at the Duke. The super casual and relaxed atmosphere is perfect to take the edge off of your day. At night it fills up, so get there earlier to ensure seating somewhere within its dark walls. The Dublin Literary Pub Crawl starts at the Duke, in the upstairs area. This tends to bring in crowds. Sit in the back.
