I have been here for dinner a couple of times and have always enjoyed the experience. Service can often be a little slow to take your order and while the servers are very friendly and helpful, they rarely check back in to ask how your food is. It can be difficult to re-order drinks or ask for the bill as staff seem to be absent from the floor for extended periods of time. Having said that, I have always enjoyed the food and the patatas bravas are my no.1 guilty pleasure. It is also good value for money and the building itself is stunning.

One of my favorite place in the city! Food, service, ambience all excellent. Zac one of head waiters is so on the ball, he even knows what you want before you tell him. He likes his job, and it shows. Food, huge portions and all flavourful. Loads for sharing. So careful on what you order. Hard to pick, but I’ve found it all really nice.

Delicious food served in tapas at a remarkable speed and in the cool space that holds the Market? I will come back way too many times, I can already see it. Really enjoyed, very tasteful food and refreshing sangria(it made me homesick!). Prices are very affordable too.

I get to disagree with Emily, yay! From my perspective, I can only take about venue and drinks, not food. I have heard the food is funky though! The bar when it opened I thought was a bit pretentious, but not so much the case, better than I envisaged, Size matters to me and it’s a good size. I like the size, the standard of women is pretty good and there’s a fair amount of alcohol choice. Good place for a first date It’s not somewhere you would spend the whole night, but start a night. Pretty good

Food is pretty gross. Mostly tastes like tomato sauce with sugar on it. Had the nachos, chicken wings, chicken skewers with«chorizo,» and bread. The bread tasted like onion feet. And it was expensive. We didn’t have drinks this night, and the atmosphere is great. So, if you’re just doing drinks and want a fun location, this is it.

Modern style restaurant and bar that serves quite standard fare. Our steaks, ordered medium rare, came out medium well and very underseasoned. My in-laws got the curry which tasted ok but again, was underseasoned. The restaurant also dimmed the lights down to the point where we had to get our phones out to read the menu. The waitstaff were lovely though. Friendly and attentive.

I only came her for a drink, so I can only comment on the environment and service. Great, lively open-area seating with community tables and high, industrial ceilings — and old market, of course. The dishes being brought out looked good as I passed on my way up to the drinks-only bar upstairs. Upstairs is a more intimate, cozier setting with large couches and random home furniture for groups to lounge in while sipping cocktails. Although it too has great energy, it’s much quieter and calmer than the restaurant below. Good service. Great people watching. Should I find myself back in Dublin, I’d definitely go back to try the food, whether for dinner or brunch.

It’s a No from me kids! I somehow seem to have had the exact opposite experience to other people in the Market Bar. The setting is only gawjus I’ll admit that. But after that, well it pretty much falls down everywhere. Main points being food and service.(there’s not much else left when you take those two away really is there?!) We were in on a Sunday for the brunch menu which is pretty average. Not a massive selection and all stodgy enough. Brunch has been stepped up a serious notch in recent times in Dublin, so if you’re not gonna keep up, you’re gonna get left by the wayside. There were three dishes on our table. One was actually very good(though hard not to do well), two were terrible. The first good one was the nachos grande. It is indeed massive. Loads of all the usual suspects piled massively high. All tasty, piping hot and plentiful. Just what you want. The second lot, not so much. First there was the chicken quesadillas that were so tasteless I may as well have been eating my napkin. No spice, no flavour, no crunch. Even the melted cheese, which is normally a favourite food staple of mine, was like tasteless goo. No flavour whatsoever. Then the eggs Benedict came out. Two eggs plonked on their muffins with a pile of greasy rashers next to them. There was hollandaise alright, but where was the presentation„ the important visual bit that makes you wanna eat? A medley of insipid colours all looking so sad to be plonked on the plate together. The service was ssoooooo slloowwww. We had one waitress serving our table who actually was really lovely, but she seemed under pressure and the place potentially was understaffed. We sat at the end of our meal for a good half an hour with all the plates in front of us having never been cleared. Same problem with trying to get the bill, it took an age. It’s a shame, but I think this place needs a bit of a re-haul to keep up with the big players in town these days.

The dishes are way larger than expected, delicious too. Great cheese and cold cut platter. A bit on the loud side towards the evening, especially when a game is on.

5 stars go to the food here which I simply adore. I’ve tried many of the dishes here and always leave pleased and full. My favourite is the rocket and chorizo salad closely followed by the bravas patatas with garlic. 5 stars go to the staff; last day I was served by a lady who checked we were happy with our food, drink and even apologised when one cocktail came in a short glass rather than the long glass she thought it came in 5 stars go to the cocktails which were made upstairs in the cocktail bar and personally delivered by the barman that made them. I can’t remember the names of the cocktails I got but they were really really good.

Came here for lunch and got a soup and sandwich special costing around € 8. I dig the interior, it’s a massive open space with lots of seating available. It’s certainly an experience but at lunch-time it felt a bit too empty and sparse and lacked any real atmosphere. I could imagine this place being a lot better at night when it’s presumably more busy. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. The food was average with it not being much better than your standard carvery food. Maybe it was the items that I ordered but there was zero room for anything to shine here. I was pretty disappointed because it certainly looked appetising. I’m curious to see if the food & atmosphere at night can elevate this place to beyond just averageness but I’m not in a rush to test this out.

Really nice place for some food and drinks. We went a bit overboard and ordered too much food, and the waitress was lovely and she actually told us that it was too much for two people so we reduced our order and it was still too much. The good thing is you get the choice of small or large portions for some of the items. Large portions are quite huge though so be aware a large portion would do ¾ people sharing. We got Bread and dips to start which were really delicious. Then we had the meatballs, they came with patatas(fried potato squares) and in a lovely tomato sauce. We also got the chicken and chorizo skewers which were tasty. That along with a Tiger beer for my boyfriend and the total bill came in just under € 40. So pretty good value for decent portions of food.

Ahhhh Market Bar, one of Dublin’s most popular tapas bars! I love the layout, a big open space filled with tables upon tables. The place is always busy and with the amount of people this place holds there’s always a great atmosphere… I suppose the name suits it perfectly in this regard as it has that lively, market vibe! The food here is really good quality and the portion sizes are decent. The large dishes are really big, and great value at 12 euro, so just be aware of this if you are ordering a few different dishes. Their sun-dried tomato and almond pesto is amazing so I would definitely recommend the bread with dips to start. Other dishes I would recommend are the patatas bravas, the meatballs(which are served with potatoes), the chicken and chorizo skewers and the nachos. One criticism I have is that on Saturday night we were told we could only have the table for an hour and a half-quite abruptly by our server– which kind of defeats the whole purpose of tapas, sitting ordering small dishes one or two at a time over a few drinks. Another small drawback for me is the lack of paella… in a tapas restaurant… whaaaaatt?

Why do I not come here more often! Invited here as a post work thing earlier this week and firstly, I forgot how close it is to South William Street area plus the casual and large open space is a great go to… I need to push this place on up my list, for sure. Loved the atmosphere and the staff where prompt to serve and also offer us advice on the menu. The food, tapas style but any of the dishes you can order as a large size and would be more than enough as a dinner main although if you are out with a group of friends, order tapas style and get tasting as many of the dishes as you can. For me, Nachos… Yummy, yes please and then my other fave was the chicken and chorizo skewers. Yet let me say, all 6 dishes we ordered were yummy and worth their buck :-)

I always find myself suggesting the market bar as a place to go as I love the tapas menu here, there is a good selection, my favourites being potatas bravas and the super yummy nachos, the large portions really are large and good value for money. … not only is the food really tastey but the atmosphere is great particularly mid week, no matter which day I visit there is always a buzz around the place on an evening

So I’ve been to this place a couple of times and was never really knocked off my feet to be honest. The place is set up in such a way that if it’s busy(as it often is on a Saturday night) it’s not really the type of place you can stand around with your drink without looking awkward… you kind of do need a seat… That said, I came here for after work drinks the other night and my perspective changed somewhat. We ordered a set menu(though by ordered I mean as we were 10 people we were basically required to order it as a condition of pre booking), and… wow. 15 Euro per person and we got so much food we were so stuffed and still had enough behind to feed a small African tribe or something. The variety was great too — we had nachos, tapas, good variety of salads and fried foods, delicious dips and various meat cuts and the list goes on. Definitely a bargain for 15 Euro! It basically felt like they served us every item on the menu and it was quite delicious! The only let down of the lot was the calamari which was quite chewy so regardless of whether you order a set meal or individual dish, if you are after a feed steer clear of that one. Everything else was great though. Giving this place 3 stars rather than 4 because the staff wasn’t the most friendly I’ve come across and weren’t very attentive, but nothing bad, just not superb service. Only a bit disappointed because this was a Tuesday night when they’re not as busy as weekends, so not sure what coming here for a meal on the weekend would be like. Overall though, it was a pleasant experience. The place is huge so for a group of people it was great and quite comfy, but if you’re after a cosy bar this isn’t the place to go for that kind of experience. The highlight was definitely the food, though their beer selection is not too bad either! So I’d say I prefer this place for some weeknight drinks rather than a place for a weekend night out.

When I’m the mood for tapas I rarely go to the market bar anymore, as I think there are better tapas places around dublin, but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my meal last night. Probably because I was absolutely starving and I could have eaten a horse by the time dinner arrived to our table. We shared the meatballs with bravas(yummie!), a piri piri chicken salad(which was too oily), garlic bread and peppers stuffed with couscous and goats cheese(also good but quite a small portion) What I did not like was the service. In fairness our waiter was super friendly. But it was so hard to get his attention, the poor fella was running around like mad serving loads of tables. I definitely think they could put a bit more waiting staff. Also I still had a bit of wine, but while I bend down to grab my bag, and looked up again, my glass had already been taken away. Not okay! Noise levels are extremely high, we had to shout over the table to make ourselves heard. It’s one of those places which is great to go to with larger groups, but not so much for an intimate dinner.

It’s a lovely place, well decorated usually is pack. The staff is friendly and focus on detail, I had bravas, fish pie and goat cheese salad. The bravas were crispy and the sauce was spicy enough, it’s a good starter specially if you are hungry. The goat cheese salad is lovely a generous portion well dressed with the exact amount of cheese. Last but not least the fish pie, it’s by far the best dish well cocked salmon topped with cheese. I highly recommend this place for drinks and tapas.

I don’t know how I feel about the Market Bar. I’ve been there many times but always starting out a night or ending one… never spending the whole night there. And I don’t think I’d want to either. It’s very hard to get a seat. I can’t review based on food, as I’ve never eaten there, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about it. I wouldn’t mind trying it out one day. Last time I was there a few days ago, we got a seat up in the upstairs bar. I have to commend the bartenders, who earn the place a star, for their excellent service even though they were slammed. When I go out I order a semi-difficult drink usually, and they went out of their way to go down to the kitchen for the ingredients even though I told them it wasn’t necessary and that I’d order something else. I also tried a couple of their cocktails which were delish. The Market Bar for me is just one of those places… sometimes I end up there without it necessarily being my top choice, but I usually have a good enough time.

Market Bar Upsides: *Great Huge Space *Perfect for Large Groups *Reasonable Prices for Small Plates Market Bar Downsides: *Pretty Loud at Fuller Capacity *Head elsewhere for more intimate get-togethers …(far from ‘cozy’) *Mediocre Eats(if you want well-made Spanish tapas this is a weaker attempt, although the chorizo and feta salad is pretty tasty) This is ultimately a big bar offering ‘bar food’ and that’s exactly what you get.

Just like in London and Paris on this whirlwind trip I planned an UYE to meet up with some Dublin Unilocalers, and the place picked was Market Bar, and I have to be honest I was pretty excited to check this place out, it used to be an old shoe factory and they paid tribute to that and have lots of shoe molds in the wall, that was pretty cool. Also Market Bar severs Irish style tapas. Yum! I was a few minutes late, I went to the wrong spot, but quickly made my way to the correct location and their I meet up with Lisa and her sister Sabrina, they were a fun bunch! Welcomed us to Dublin and gave us tips. Market Bar is huge, and I didn’t find the noise level any higher that a typical bar, we were able to carry on a conversation, our sever was sweet, and had nice eyes :). After a few minutes of trying to figure out what beer to order I went with a nice glass of Smithwick’s beer, I also learned that you pounce it Smithick’s the w is silent, good to know now when I order it in the states I’ll be ordering like a pro! I also wanted to check out what a Irish style tapa so checked out the menu and went with Patatas Bravas let me tell you about this, deep fried potatoes(like chunky potatoes) covered in a spicy tomato sauce & a garlic mayo, Holy Cow Bat Man, these are some great potatoes! So so good! So happy to had made to Market Bar on my trip to Dublin and look forward to coming back and trying out more of the menu.
