Had a lovely cocktail here, which was a mix of gin, ginger, and angostura bitters(struggling to remember its name). Nice for a few drinks on a Friday, and there’s a whopper DJ set!

I actually really like this place. I’ve only been for drinks., and their cocktail menu is great and the 2-for-1 deal is a great incentive to come here with friends. Cocktails are € 10 otherwise, which is fairly average in Dublin for a decent and well made cocktail, but obviously to get two for that price is what seals the deal for me! The staff are friendly, the ambiance of the bar is really cool and quirky, I love the seated area upstairs, overall it’s just a cool spot to check out. This place can get pretty packed at night so make sure to get there early to actually get in the door, let alone manage to order a drink downstairs! The bar upstairs also serves though, so if you find the service downstairs too slow, just pop up there instead as it tends to be slightly less busy. Try their Rum and Bass cocktail!

Booked our Xmas party there and it was hosted in the«dungeon» on Saturday night. As like most work do’s, the number of people in attendance can fluctuate but the space was a decent size for approx 30−40pax. Sadly the only good thing about this place to me was the bar man we had… We were charged € 10pp for(decent) finger food and a glass of prosecco which I felt a little cheated by, as we spent a lot of money on the bar and stayed till the end. The dj arrived around midnight who in fairness wasn’t bothered with anyone’s requests which could be his way… But non commercial tunes at a Xmas party is a little crappy. The dungeon had no seating on arrival and maybe 10 – 12 seats in the end… It was not a nice spot. We felt a little neglected and will not be returning. Places all over city centre offer groups so much more for less and I would not recommend the South William to any groups going forward.

I’ve just had brunch and I have to say it was really good! I had the poached eggs and bacon dish, which comes with homemade fries and all of this for only 10 €. I feel super full and happy of my choice. I will definitely come back!

This is an updated review. I went in here for the second time with my friends since I raved how good the service and food was when I went there the first time. But man I was so disappointed the second time. The first time I was there, someone approached us and asked how many seats we wanted, so I assumed it would be the same thing so we waited at the front door for a staff to approach us but we were just standing there for a good 5 minutes and felt like idiots of not knowing whether to approach the staff and ask if we could just sit anywhere we wanted. My friend got irritated and just asked. It was so frustrating that the staff were just there standing idly and some messing around. The food is great, the same as my first review. My friends quite enjoyed their signature venison burger. But I am just disappointed how the service I experienced the first time was so amazing to plain awful the second time around.

I loved the food in this place. We were looking for a place for dinner the place still had seats, they have a pretty selective menu, I opted for a burger, pretty basic but name it delicious. Their root crisps with cauliflower sauce were amazing!

The food here is by the guys from the Sett Food Club, and it’s really, really good. I was here for brunch The two dishes I got to try were so moreish. The first one was the eggs on sourdough with hollandaise sauce and venison. Really, really good. Massive portions and nicely balanced flavours & textures. It came with a load of chips as well(it’s not quite low in fat!!!). The chips are unreal. I hear they’re twice fried which gives them that crispy, dark & dangerous quality! I say dangerous because you can actually not stop eating them. The bowl of chips for 3 euro is enough for about two people, so no complaints on this size whatsoever! I also had some salad with smoked chicken — it was a pretty decent size for the price(7.50 — bargain!) and had lots of lovely colours & flavours. Last time I was here, the service wasn’t amazing, but it seems to have improved an awful lot. It’s pretty sweet sitting outside and watching the world go by too.

Stopped in to this place for a couple drinks to end a nice evening in Dublin. I had a few local brews, while my wife had a really excellent margarita(highly recommended). The service at our table was slow to non-existent, but it’s a small place, and the bar service is quick and professional. There were a couple of guys playing live music at the front of the bar, which we really enjoyed! Didn’t have any food, so can’t comment on the menu.

I called in here for a drink after dinner on Thursday. We ordered a few cocktails from the small menu and a glass of prosecco — they do this great deal on a Thursday where you can get your prosecco or Heineken for free if they flip a coin and it lands on the side you called! The first cocktail took about 10 minutes to make. I was then told they had to go upstairs to find a bottle of liquor as they had run out. 15 minutes later the barman reappeared without a bottle. I went over and asked about my drink, and was told he forgot! What’s worse, I was overcharged when I went to pay. I won’t be coming back here!

I thought this bar was overcrowded and unenjoyable. The toilets were disgusting, only one out of five toilets worked. The worst part was that there was water all over the floor, my friend slipped and fell down an entire flight of stairs and really injured her leg. After her fall, four others slipped down the stairs also and there was not one member of staff to help any of them. I will not be returning here again.

The South William is back again — this pub has had more makeovers in the last ten years than Americas Next Top Model. This time for me sadly they have not hit the mark. Possibly it’s just too cool and as it’s full of hipsters all trying desperately hard to be individuals it’s just not my kinda place. A real shame as I was a big fan of it’s last incarnation«Damson Diner». This Sunday when I stopped in for a drink they had run out of several of the cocktails from the already tiny menu so I just ordered an absolute which they were also sold out of — hard to believe as the place was so quiet. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be back until it’s next makeover /rebrand

I really enjoyed my time imbibing here! The ambiance is fab and they completely revamped it from the original damson diner which is a huge plus: they have a great selection of cocktails and the staff was pretty accommodating. I would def revisit to have a few before moving on somewhere else. I haven’t been during a weekend night and maybe the vibe will be different as it was extraordinarily quiet on a Sunday evening.

I found this bar/lounge ok, very dimly lit with a good bar atmosphere. It was really quiet with not much people when I went with my friend, but I guess that is to be expected on a Sunday. However, it’s much to expensive for me with € 10 for a cocktail, most of which are way too strong or overly sweet. None were to my taste, and most has too much fruity ingredients that I could barely understand. If you like kinda posh and subdued fashionable bars, then maybe you might like this place. But I found it too quiet and pricy compared to most other bars and pubs around Dublin. Probably more appropriate for a special occasion.
