Yeh its pretty good ! I would go again all right !! but wouldn’t go out of my way. if i happened to me in the area or something type thing and couldn’t think of anywhere else to go. id drop in. Its very like Eddie Rockets or TGI Fridays so if you like them you will like this! as I said the food is good but nothing spectacular ! suppose there is only so much you can do with the likes of chips anyway but the burger i got was very tasty ! i cleaned my plate anyway. average enough food like burgers, hotdogs and chips ! portions are generous ! its more of a place you would go to if ya just want to get some grub into you when your proper starving before a few drinks or something ! Staff were cool though. Seating isnt very comfortable ! great for groups !

Hip new American style diner in the heart of hip Dublin. Had a meal with mates here on a Tuesday. It was still busy even though it was a school night for many! Food is really good and there is a wide choice– more than just burgers. I had the shrimp with sweet potato fries. Burgers look great though so will get one next time. The place doesn’t get 5 stars as it’s a bit pricey for what it is. The service was very slow when we were there too. But will be back.

I’ve been dying to try this place out. The menu was different to what I imagined it to be. I’d say it’s more modern American chophouse fare than a diner. The vibe is modern and they have DJ’s playing. They have a «beer garden» that runs along side the restaurant but don’t be expecting sun as it’s more of an enclosed alley way than a beer garden. The service is nice. My only complaint is that they tables on the outside patio are so squished together. I found it hard to carry out a conversation with my fellow diner without worrying about the table next to me listening and I found it hard to speak when they were as they are so close to me. There’s a few times our female server’s white skirt almost went into my food and drink… Maybe a flared skater skirt shouldn’t be worn when serving tables so close together. Anyhow I digress onto the food We ordered the Los Cabos salad and ribs platter to share. The salad is really nice and tasty. The chicken was grilled a tad too much so was dry but the dressing and guacamole served with the salad was zesty. The ribs… I have to say is the saving grace. They were delish. I’d give damson diner 3 stars but the ribs were so good I had go tack on another star. They were tender and flavorful. They are glazed with a sweet BBQ sauce and I found myself loving every bite. The sides we got were the Mac n cheese(watery and overdone) and the sweet potato fries.(I thought they were decent. Not crispy but still nice) I loved the pomegranate martini I ordered to start off with. It’s a bit sweet and the viscosity of the cocktail was a bit thick… but still nice. On the next visit I had the raspberry mojito which I didn’t enjoy too much but the grapefruit gin fizz was lovely! The mojito was way too sweet and the acidity of the drink really punches the back of your throat. Not a fan. The gin fizz had a lovely balance and is quite easy to drink. Don’t be scared of the egg whites as an ingredient as it’s used simply go froth the drink when they shake it up! Another plus? They have kumquats as a garnish! Nothing really separates this place from other places for me so I’m not sure if I’ll revisit anytime soon but if you go, get the ribs!

Oof, I am not a fan. To start, our blonde waitress was about as pleasant as a freshly stubbed toe. one with an ingrown toenail… and athletes foot. You see what I’m trying to describe here? Her initial air of unfriendliness quickly merged into a blatant distain for my table within 5minutes of us sitting down and this ensured an uncomfortable awkwardness for each hostile interaction she made with us The only saving grace for a restaurant with rude staff, is exceptionally good food. Unfortunately there was no grace to save this place as the mains were very much below par(for example: my salad was drowned in some greasy sauce and the leaves were wrinkly and limp –doublebarf.) How-and-ever, I will say this; that ice cream sundae at the end was bloody good and had we not had to face our ice-queen waitress to pay the bill, the meal could have ended on a bit of a positive note from it alone. All-in-all, I was so put off by the service that I would be verrry hesitant to come back again

Visiting Dublin from the States. This place is a gem of a find. Diner food is on point. They have a great menu with options if you are keeping it lighter all the way to a sloppy joe(which is amazing). The drink list is icing on the cake. Some amazing and creative cocktails that make you feel like you are in a classy bar. Delish.

I’d heard good reports on Damson Diner mainly of their cocktails but I’ve also seen some great food deals popping up on their Facebook page, so we decided we’d give it a shot. The lunch menu had a real mix from Thai Chicken Skewers or Fishcakes to Philly Cheese Steak or Cheeseburger Delux. I was torn between the cheeseburger or else the special lunch deal which they run Monday — Thursday. There’s a choice of the Fennel Bhaji wrap or Pork Bahn Mi followed by either the sorbet or baked cheesecake. I was STARVING so opted for the lunch deal and chose the Pork Bahn Mi(Slow roasted pork belly in a soft roll with pickled daikon & carrot, cucumber, fresh mint, citrus mayo and chilli). My partner chose the fishcakes with a side of rice and side of chips. The food was fab, a big soft roll topped with a crazy amount of food, gorgeous soft pork and loads of the slaw… Mmmmmmmm! It was way too big to pick up and stuff in my mouth and cutting it up in the plastic basket was tough, but I got through it and the lot was polished off. The rice was tasty, soft and slightly sticky, with bits of egg and edamame beans that jazzed it up a bit. The chips were also nice, nice and fresh and still with bits of potato skin on them — yum. The only part of the meal that wasn’t amazing was the fishcakes. There was just too much lemongrass flavour from them we thought… it kinda overpowered the taste of the fish slightly. Dessert was the piece de resistance — a baked NY cheesecake. I’ve never had baked cheesecake before now, it’s always just been the straight up fridge ones so I wasn’t sure how much I’d like it. Well — I LOVEDIT! It was fabulous. The base was almost black so must’ve been made from Oreos or something similar and had a good crunch to it. And the topping — just amazing. All in, the bill came to just over € 50 — for the amount of food we had plus the 2 glasses of wine it was very reasonable. The lunchtime deal for € 10 was the best value lunch that I’ve had in a long long time — the Pork Bahn Mi and cheesecake all for that price was such a bargain. Verdict for Damson Diner — 9÷10… I will definitely be back

I tried this place out last week with a friend and had a great meal. I’m a burger fan so I had to try the Damson burger. I had heard about their cocktails and saw they had many appealing choices, I went with the lychee one and my friend had one with strawberry. Both were delicious and refreshing, but for the price, too small. Now for the best part. I was dreading the burger for two reasons: first, there was a ‘secret sauce’ that I hoped contained no mayo as I absolutely hate the stuff. Second, the waiter did not ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. In fairness, Ireland only knows 2 ways of cooking meat: burnt and slightly less burnt. I like my meat rare but I’m used to it being impossible to get. When the burger came, I saw the sauce looked a bit mayonnaisey and the meat was, of course, overcooked. I slowly and suspiciously brought it to my gob. It was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed every last bit of it, thinking of how amazing it would have been had the meat been recognizable. I ordered the sweet potato fries, also a great treat if a tinsy bit too salty. I will definitely be back for the burger as it’s one of the best I’ve had in Dublin.

On a perfectly sunny Sunday afternoon, my sister and I hit up another spot on my restaurant wish list– Damson Diner. What a cool place, great vibes and funky interior. I went for the healthy quinoa veg salad and asked them to throw in some grilled. My sister however did not ask for them to throw in A SOGGYPAPERTOWEL. Yes, you heard right folks. A wet, old and probably dirty kitchen towel– I’m giving them the benefit of doubt that it wasn’t loo roll. Why was it in her lunch we shrieked?! Our waitress didn’t know either, quickly grabbing it off the table and muttering«Jesus Christ» under her breath. Thankfully the g&t’s were flowing, so her frustration added some comic relief. They got Ger a new dish, apologised perfusely and then gave us all free dessert– I originally thought it was due to my brilliant flirting skills, alas I was wrong. Overall I would go back as it was nice, however this would be a 2nd or 3rd option. Note to Damson– watch where you leave your kitchen towel!!!

Went here with my 4 year daughter at the weekend. Was a bit worried the place would be too hipsterish to bring a kid once I was inside, but wasn’t the case. Staff were so lovely and when we were going to leave, the chef even sent over a free chocolate brownie for her and with a smiley face made of fruit on plate too. Make sure you have the sweet potato fries. Unreal!

I can’t say I had the best experience in The Damson Diner on Friday night. We asked for a table for 11 and got a table for 10, which made it all a bit confusing. When we were getting our food, while my burger came out with a side — it was the wrong side and all I was told was I can swap them around when the other sides come. This makes no sense to me at all, wither bring the burger out with the right side, or bring all the mains and then follow them on with all the sides, to avoid confusion. Now what I must say, is the waiter was lovely and the sweet poptato fries were amazing! I just felt the whole experience was a bit disorganised.

Damson Diner has been on the list to try for a while, over all it’s a nice place trying oh so hard to be oh so hip, and maybe in doing so it comes across a bit that they are trying too hard… Food was tasty — nothing spectacular nothing bad just middle of the road bistro food, staff where friendly and quick and trying to please. That’s really I have to say, except that two mains and two drinks really should be better than just OK if your not going to get change from a € 50.

YES! to Damson Diner. I like this place so much, I once went there three times in one week. Not sure if that’s something I should admit to, but there you go. As others have said, it could also be a restaurant in New York, from its interior to the innovative Cocktails to the food you get. The Good: Their Food! It’s really, really good, with smaller bites and a handful of mains. Some of my faves: the Philly Cheesesteak(first time I’ve ever seen it in a restaurant in Dublin!), the Cheese-stuffed-Bacon-Wrapped Burger(nom nom nom, although I always get it without the bun since it’s a very generous portion) and the best thing, their Courgette Fries. Oh Gosh, their Courgette Fries. I sometimes just order these and nothing else because they’re so darn tasty. The Even-Better: Their Cocktails! Innovative and so yummy tasting, I’ve not been disappointed so far. If you’re into super fruity Cocktails, try the Strawberry Blonde. Tip: if you chat with the Bartender, you might get to enjoy his Signature Cocktail that’s not on the menu. It tastes like liquid Fruit-Sorbet-Ice Cream, only with Alcohol, and much better. YES, PLEASE. As far as prices go, you definitely get value for money — the quality of the ingredients is high and food is very flavorful. Add super friendly staff and a chill atmosphere and you have the perfect place for a Friday night out with friends that does not involve loud music, but plenty of fun.

What a fabulous upscale diner — reminds me of something I’d come across in NYC or San Francisco. This multi-level level establishment is right up there for the foodies of Dublin: Glass of Spanish Chardonnay — 6 Euro Shared plate of spicy/sweet wings — 11 Euro Spicy Chicken Salad — 14 Euro Satisfied patron — priceless! If you’re looking for even more casual, try the menu that doubles as a placemat. There are gourmet hot dogs(including pulled pork), sweet potato friens, and you can enjoy a glass of bubbly or a spicey vodka cran to go with it! The service is a bit slow. But, the ambiance, tunes, and food will keep me coming back for more. There’s even a disco ball! Get there earlier on Friday or Saturday night is this place can get packed! And, if it’s nice outside, try to score a table curbside! Enjoy!

Went here with a bunch of Unilocalers to get a tasting of their fabulous Philly Cheese steak, and I must admit, would be my first ever… and I am sold… The place itself has a nice and trandy feel about it. The specialty, as Nathan mentioned already are the specialized cocktails, they create themselves there. Wow factor 10! The Damson Wodka we got to taste was just awesome; you have to try them, indeed! The food they serve is a mix between American and Asian foods. not in a mix-up style as you may suspect, they have them next to each other, with the vocal point being the teasing of our taste buds with their spices and herb usage. I will have to come back again to taste the rest of their menu, and when the dancing is ready downstairs have a dance to burn the just acquired calories…

I can’t fault this place. Great good, great staff, and great cocktails. I was here on a Tuesday night — we had no problem getting a table(they only take reservations for parties of 6+). The waitress was very friendly without being«in your face». I had the chile con carne — delicious. A friend had the chicken salad, and enjoyed it. We also shared the breaded courgettes on the advice of the waitress, and loved them. Dessert was an amazing chocolate brownie. They have a good selection of unique cocktails(not a cosmo in sight). The cocktails aren’t cheap, but they are tasty and hard to resist! All in all, we were very happy, and will be returning!

WOW the next day I can still taste the Philadelphia Cheese Steak I was there last night with a few other Unilocalers and I must say I’m impressed for the first time Ive went to a Diner in Ireland that actually is as good quality food as in USA this Restaurant is not just your average Diner it specializes in American & Asian Foods giving you a great range of dishes to choose from so there is something for everyone When we got to the table we all got a Damson Vodka which was just great right it does look like a girls drink with its Pink Colour but its Damn Good! it would not stop me from drinking it again they also do amazing Cocktails infused with lots of different flavours I must say if your looking for somewhere to go on a first date or just looking for somewhere different check this place out as it wont disappoint you I will defiantly be back the only downside is that they only do the Philadelphia Cheese Steak at lunch time it should be available all day Fair play to the Management and Staff Keep up the good work

Good thing there’s a sex shop(can I say that?) across the way, otherwise I would never have found it. That would have been a shame. First we were greeted by a Damson vodka cocktail and then given a quick chat about the cocktail selection, all of which are done on site. Next we were given a talk about the diner and it’s foundations. But the best part of the evening was the lovely Philly Cheese steak. Delicious! Lovely rib-eye steak with beautifully sautéed onions and peppers, wasabi mayo all served on locally baked bread. Very nice and very filling. Thank you Unilocal and Emily.

A new-ish restaurant on the South William St. restaurant bloc that specializes in cocktails(usually a spirit that they’ve infused with various things in house, which is awesome), I recommend the Damson vodka. The cocktails are on the pricey side, so watch out if you’re having a few before your bill runs up too high. It has a great feel to it. Sort of an upscale warehouse type of atmosphere, but it’s small so I guess that would make it un-warehouse-like? Anyway, it’s hard floors, sort of corrugated sheet metal grit feeling around the place which is very cool and makes it feel incredibly trendy to be there with your creative cocktail. The food all looks and sounds delicious. We all had the Philly cheesesteak, which is not served on the dinner menu so you DEFINITELY should go into this place for lunch and try it out. I’ve never been to Philadelphia, but I’ve had Philly cheesesteaks all over America, and this would certainly be in the top 5−10% I’ve ever had. They do a wasabi brush over the bread that gives it just a tiny hint of spice(don’t worry, it’s not too much) that really livens up the sandwich; plus, they use a better cut of meat than most places would. Don’t think of this place as Eddie Rockets just because it has diner in the name. It’s a place you’re certain to enjoy! PS, there seems to be a cocktail lounge opening soon in the basement so you can drink without sitting down to eat as well… class.

*Sigh* this place reminds me of a restaurant in New York. All shiny surfaces and amazing art and graffiti on the walls and house music and quirky little details around the place. Now for the important part. The food. The Philly Cheese Steak. Wafter-thin rib eye steak, sauteed unions & peppers, fresh bread baked down the road in the Liberties, and… wait for it… wasabi mayonnaise. Oh yes. The menu contains a variety of Asian and American cuisine, so there should be something here for everyone. The Vietnamese roll is next on my list, it sounds amazing. Now for the even more important part. The cocktails. They are genuinely sensational. A really creative mix of classics with new mixes. The stand-out for me though, is the Damson vodka spritzer. It’s vodka that’s been infused with damson berries for about 3 – 4 months, in a short glass, with a splash of water. You nearly feel like you’re drinking a vitamin drink. Sure it’s made out of berries, it has to be good for you, right?! The staff in here are also clearly highly trained — they are all immaculately turned out, are very friendly, and know their shizzle. Ask one of the bar staff about their cocktails. I dare ya. They will blind you with science and their ability to make fruit look like other fruit.(see the lime with jelly inside masquerading as a mini-watermelon.)
