Great lunch spot during the week — there is usually a queue but it moves quickly. You can go for the usual selections but there are a few unusual ones called Hot Colin or Mile High Club ;) Salad bar looks lovely too! If you’re lucky to have a weekday afternoon to while away, nab the seat by the window for great people watching while catching up on the latest novel!

Deceptive. Salads are expensive and deceptive(vegetable not well cooked, too oily)

It was a lovely little find, The Pig and Heifer based at City Quay. The space is quite big, so never feels as if it’s too crowded or there’s a long line of people waiting to be served. I had the Greek sandwich with slices of lean lamb, goat’s cheese, salad(and black olives-yuk). My guest had a Chicken Pesto. It also looked good. The only thing that turned me off was the bread they used. I’m sure I could have asked for something else… The staff were friendly and patient(because I can’t decide when there’s too much choice) and the price is right for sure.

Yummy sandwiches with a huge selection of fillings etc, the ques can be quite long at lunch time but they move quickly. There are loads of comfy seating and the atmosphere is very relaxed and chilled out. It’s not right in the middle of the IFSC but very close so it is not as mental as other places

Some of the best sandwiches in Dublin can be found here. Dublin’s for great deli’s. But this place is excellent. Well worth a visit. The que moves fast and the price is just right.

Fresh, healthy food to go. Good selection at the salad bar and numerous meats to choose from. Queues can be very long around lunch time obviously. Charging for heating the sandwich is a bit much really. Staff are lovely though and most are quite quick with preparing your sandwich or salad bowl. Tip — if you eat in you get free pasta which is seasoned with a lovely Italian olive oil… if your a regular and smile, they may give you a small portion of pasta to go… also gets an extra star over its sister store on Pearce street due to it being more spacious

If this is what New York Deli’s are like then I need to plan a trip to NY very soon! This was my first time here after having it bookmarked to visit for a long time. I just happened to be passing by and had to go in! Boy was I not sorry. The sandwiches here are crazy good! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sandwich that looked so good or one which had so much meat in it for that matter! We found ourselves a seat and then went up and ordered our sandwiches and paid at the counter. For a sandwich and drink it came to € 8. Not bad, pretty standard for a sandwich and drink in a Dublin coffee shop. Myself and my friend both went for the pastrami melt. We had the choice of white, tomato or rye bread. My friend got the white and I opted for the rye. They were served with a little side portion of cold pasta which was cooked to perfection and a really nice extra touch. The sandwich itself was a beast of a thing. The bread was soft, the pastrami was tender and salty(almost melt in the mouth), complimented beautifully by a kick of mustard and sharpness of pickles. The sandwich also consisted of melted cheese and spinach. I could feel myself fading after the first half and my friend couldn’t finish all of hers! The surroundings were pleasant and the place had a warm atmosphere. An older gentleman greeted us with a smile and the staff were friendly. I will definitely be back and I would absolutely recommend. Forget your o’briens and your other mediocre cafés. If you want a REALLY tasty & generous sandwich made with quality ingredients then go to the pig and heifer. You won’t be disappointed. Well I lie. You might be a bit disappointed with yourself when you fail to finish one of their monster sandwiches!

Lots more seating in this place compared to The Pig and Heifer on Pearse Street. Same menu i.e. really good! Gets very busy at lunch time due to all the suits in the area.

Great sandwich place right on the quays just a short walk from the Sean O’Casey bridge on the south side of the Liffey. They have many different sandwich types to choose from with fresh great quality meats, cheeses and other toppings. I highly recommend the pastrami melt. It is amazing. The staff are very friendly, patient and explain everything well. There is usually a line but it is generally very quick. You can eat inside at a good number of tables or grab a sandwich to go to eat along the Liffey on nice sunny days. In summary, good quality sandwiches and friendly staff. I will be back… often.

I was very impressed with the spacious eatery. Loads of natural light coming in. A good salad and sandwich counter, lots of options and many different selections of meats and vegetables etc. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Pity that there is only one unisex toilet, which seems odd for such a big space. Also it’s a bit awkward as the toilet door locks but the small wash facility door does not, so you could be washing your hands and get a hit of the door. Very busy from noon to 2pm as there is loads of office workers in the area, a stampede of suits!

«This will be the best sandwich in the world.» «How much longer do we have to walk?» «Not that far, 5 mins…» «Every minute I walk, the expectations of this sandwich grow in my mind.» «It’ll measure up. I promise.» I was dragging my brother who was visiting from the UK to my favourite sandwich place last Friday lunchtime. The glass covered displays of various cheeses and meat, sourdough bread options, delicious coffee and juice, and the first bite of his sandwich, plus the couches beside the window looking out to the Liffey, convinced him it was worth the 5 minute walk, and could have possibly been worth even a 10 minute walk. Success.

This Pig & Heifer has a huge and inviting interior and it is SOOOO different to the Charlotte Way branch(although both are very nice). I haven’t been here during the lunchtime rush but have spent a pleasant afternoon here sifting through the papers. Really relaxed atmosphere, great and accommodating staff — definitely recommend. I probably prefer this one over the Charlotte Way branch, it’s just that little bit more cosy…

I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and it was a great spot. Modelled on an American style deli, there area few Pig and Heifer’s located around Dublin. The one on City Quay is bigger and roomier than most of the others, which obviously makes it a more relaxing place to eat lunch. The clientele is mostly offices, which again doesn’t come as a surprise considering the location it’s in. I went for the chicken, melted mozzarella, pesto and Italian dressing option on a bap and it did not disappoint. They also have soup and salad options and other things like meatballs, as well as a great selection of wines by the glass. I also noticed that they run tapas evenings too, which I think could work really well. The food was great and the Italian staff were really friendly so I will definitely be returning.
