Went here for a friends birthday and left shortly after getting there because they would not let her and the other people with her in. I don’t think I’ll ever know why, since everyone in there was a mess. On a Wednesday. 3 people fell on me(not spilling drinks on me, thank god). Someone tried to steal my wallet. Twice. From my back pocket. When my hand was there the second time. We were not too upset about having to leave, since we found the back entrance was open and went in that way without having to pay for cover(tried to leave that way and there were guards, so I guess someone saw us). Drinks were over € 6 which I thought was steep for a Wednesday night. I went to order a beer for a friend and get a mixed drink for myself, after he gave me my drink and the little amount of money back I asked where the beer was and was told that they were out. Thanks for letting me know in the first place… Also, you don’t get a complete shot. I did like that it was different music from room to room, so maybe if there was a better crowd I would like it more

I have heard of this place, by many of the names it goes by, but until recently did not have a chance to make it down to check it out. That changed when me and the lads went to see Alabama3 recently. I must say, I was well impressed with the venue. First off, the security staff was very polite and friendly. That is always good as IMHO it is what really sets the tone of the evening when you arrive anywhere for a night out. We then were greeted by a friendly bar staff and thanks to the nice layout and multiple bars we were never left waiting for longer than a minute for drinks. One thing I might suggest, stay away from the Desperados Beer that they have there. Don’t get me wrong, it tastes great and goes down easy, but if you aren’t aware it has a shot of tequila in every bottle — which leads to an interesting evening… if you can remember it. Still a great night, great sound from the stage, and the band was amazing. I would most definitely come back here for an event.

Together with the POD and Crawdaddy, Tripod is one of the venues in the former Harcourt Street Station. It has a capacity for 1000+ visitors, and caters for most musical styles. Excellent sound for almost all live acts I’ve seen here so far, and the sound from the stage is actually played in the bar so you’ll never miss the start of your favourite act whilst queuing for a pint. Can get crowded depending on the performing artist, and on such occasions the security can and will get nervous — but that’s the only disadvantage I could think about. Drink prices are on a standard south Dublin level with 5 € per pint and do not vary with the number of tickets sold as in other Dublin live institutions.

I know you are for me if I am drawn to you and I don’t even really know you. Giving me that giddy uncontrollable feeling. My body started moving of it’s on accord towards the beats, it was like going home. Dancing without judgment and smiling with everyone in a shared love of creativity of aural stimulation. The diversity of rooms lend to the diversity of tunes. The interior makes the music and the moment timeless. Excellent DJ’s lining up… I just always get confused as to what to call it… POD Crawdaddy Chocolate Bar I like to think they are all within it but I wait to be corrected by you!

I have mixed feelings about this venue. I’ve never liked going to clubs but I often find myself here for gigs. it’s a nice size and I’ve never had to wait very long for a drink. you can almost always push your way to the front by the stage if you’re so inclined. or stay back where the acoustics are better and you don’t risk severe ear damage. but I’ve always found that it’s alway far far too loud. I might just be getting old but when you can’t even understand the words being sung cuz it’s so distorted, it’s a bad sign. or maybe that one band needed to fire their sound guys. anyways now I just wear ear plugs and deal with it. my only other issue is all the security. and the feeling that your fun is being highly regulated and scrutinized. I never enjoy being told«you can’t stand there» or «no drinks outside!»(WTF?) or being stamped like so much cattle. still, it’s a cool venue when the right band is playing :)

My favourite Dublin live venue, decent size and most importantly it has a great sound system and they always seem to have on someone I’m into, the last 2 gigs I seen there, The Fall and Marina and the Diamonds were excellent.

A renowned venue in Dublin’s Harcourt, Tripod, as the ‘Tri’ in the name suggests, boasts three sections all vastly dissimilar from each other. The main dance floor on the ground floor also transforms into a concert venue. I went to see the Go Team! live in concert here. The crowd capacity is about 500, and hence the gig always maintains a unique intimacy. The two adjoining rooms consist of a smaller bar just off from the dance floor that is always closed during student nights. This is a very modern room with a suave seating area and serene ambience. The other room to complete the ‘tri’ is a bar upstairs that boasts a fashionable feel reminiscent of a contemporary wine bar with a small dancefloor. This sizable amount of space means Tripod is exciting and can prove to be an earnestly cool night out.

It’s full of floors! It’s full of well priced drink! It’s full of bangin tunes! Yet, it’s still a bit mediocre. I’ve had loads of nights here and they were all only kind of alright… The bouncers aren’t the most accommodating and the nights aren’t all that memorable. That may be because you blacked out though.

Had a super night out here last weekend — I had forgotten all about Tripod so was delighted to discover that it was a fantastic Saturday night! Live band, The Amazing Few, in one room… and they are amazing. The most entertaining band I’ve seen in ages! 80s music in another room. Two rooms with dance music and in the main room mostly chart with a dance vibe. We had a hilarious night, really great fun and definitely something for everyone.

Tripod’s former incarnation was The Pod which I think started out posh and declined into a bit of a dancy trancy drugs club(though I’m open to contradiction on this one). But that was before my time — it has now morphed into Tripod, a popular spot for gigs with a particular focus on local bands. It also incorporates Crawdaddy and Pod. Tripod is an alright venue with a seating(perhaps VIP) area upstairs overlooking the stage and a standing area below. If I recall properly, the door was open during the gig which ruined the buzz a bit but fun was had nonetheless. I don’t know what club we wandered into after the gig but according to fellow Unilocalers, it must have been either Crawdaddy or Pod. It was good craic and the music wasn’t unbearable high-school musical-esque rubbish so I was happy!

I’m ashamed to admit that I never really got it a hundred percent clear in my head where Crawdaddy ends, Tripod begins or who Mr. Pod is. The whole complex is just a good buzz, and the ability to wander between the three(though not always allowed) is one of the main draws. I mean, surely one of them is gonna be a bit of craic. So a cover charge is rarely money wasted. Incidentally, and this question is open to everyone, does anyone else have vague memories of being on the stage with a glowstick giving it socks?

Very good place for live shows and concerts. Last time I went Armin Van Buuren was there, really packed sometimes but worth. I would repeat over and over again. Nice spot.

I went to Tripod(the locals refer to it as the Pod) for a Brazilian party and had a blast. This club on Harcourt Street is definitely one of my favourite venues because of it always puts on good parties and has great music. Last night, there were a lot of people inside and outside the club. People were dancing to Brazilian funk in one section and to samba in the other adjoining room. The bartenders were making caipirinhas(sorta like a mojito) for 5 Euro and pints cost 3 Euro. You can get into the club for free before 9 pm or you can get on the guest list and pay 20% less than regular admission. It’s worth it! Because it once used to be a railway station, the Pod has a great layout. Circular stone walls make a long tunnel that leads to the bar. The décor of the place is quite cool too. Art deco arm chairs flank the sides of the dark club.

Bit of a tricky one to review, because Tripod incorporates Tripod itself(the old Redbox), Crawdaddy and Pod. Still, I’ll soldier on… The Tripod(formally Redbox) part is a bit of a mixed bag, due to the range of stuff that goes on there. Say for example if you decided to go on a Saturday, you’d be looking at paying € 15-€ 25 in, as there is usually some big guest DJ playing, strictly for techno enthusiasts. If you went on a Thursday, however, it’s like 7 or 8 euro in, and they play a mix of dance music and chart music. Same goes for drink prices: if there is a band on or big DJ appearing, standard night club prices are charged. If you’re there on week night though, they arbitrarily and without forward notice introduce mad pricing structures like a double vodka and shark for € 6 or € 2 for bottled beer(!) Happy Days. As to the club itself, someone told me once that it’s dancefloor is the biggest in Ireland. I don’t know if this is true or how people expect to verify these things, but it certainly is big. This is just as well, as the place is seriously low on seats(there’s a little lounge area away from the main dancefloor, but there feck all seats there as well). Tripod is verrryy good for gigs, really good sound system, good acoustics, so you’d probably want ot be up dancing and not sitting down anyway. Tripod shares its smoking area with Crawdaddy and Pod, and they seem to change it round so often that I cannot guarantee accuracy in my description of it, suffice to say that it is big, there are patio tables, it’s good. The club has two upper levels as well, which aren’t always open all the time, and you occasionally need a guestlist wristband to get into them. One would wonder why they bother though, as there is nothing interesting or memorable up the stairs(again, few or no seats). Tripod is one of Dublin’s better clubs, though you wouldn’t want to get separated from your friend when Tripod, Crawdaddy and Pod are all opened up together and the place is ginourmous(reviews of Crawdaddy and Pod to follow).

Excellent venue for live acts or just a night on the town. Its a great location, directly outside the Harcourt luas station, so there’s no hassle getting there. Unfortunately that applies for most people and it can get really busy. There’s even been a couple of times when I haven’t gotten in because it was too packed, so if you do give it a try make sure you arrive nice and early!

Everytime I’m in Dublin, I always try to plan to go to a gig here. It’s pretty cool. However If you are a 51 Foot wee gal like me. Then you have a bloody problem seeing the stage. The craic is good and the people there are great to chat to. Definitely worth a visit.

Set in the heart of Dublin tripod is the perfect place for people to go on a night out. Its layout means that there are three rooms all with a different agenda, whether this is concerts or just a general clubbing night. Drinks are reasonably priced at around 5 Euros for a bottle of beer. The atmosphere is buzzing and lively, there is also an outside area equip with chairs and tables. For a night out this venue is defiantly worth hitting, Staffs are friendly and most importantly are prompt with your drink orders to keep their customers happy. The only negative aspect of this club I would say are the toilet facilities, especially the girl toilets, you will find yourself waiting in a queue, however this is true of most clubs.
