After a long day traveling to Dublin, we took a chance on dinner at the Verres en Vers which was conveniently located in our hotel. Usually in the states restaurants located within a hotel are not always a safe bet for a quality meal. However, this was not the case with the Verres en Vers which in located within the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in the heart of Dublin. The food and ambiance was terrific and the service was superb. I highly recommend it to others visiting the area.

The area might not be as picturesque as one of the lovely streets of Paris, but the food doesn’t disappoint and it takes you away from the grim Dublin neighbourhood to somewhere a bit more shall I say soothing. Everything about the restaurant is modern from the décor to the interpretations of french food. If you’re looking for something a bit different for a date, well that is if you don’t consider pulling a random at the pub a date, this place oozes romance and sophistication. So go ahead splurge a bit on that girl(or boy!) and make them feel special.

A softly alluring and coyly cool restaurant, Verres en Vers lives up to its translation as ‘poetry in a glass’. With dark wood finishes, terse but proficient white linen and black leather seats we are treated to hip dining at its most serene — I do not mean ‘serene’ in the boring sense, far from it, but in reference to how composed and unflustered the ambience of the restaurant is. The menu is predominantly French but does subtly incorporate a few Irish elements such as a plenteous Steak au poivre, coq au vin and salade Niçoise. This was the main course I selected from the current offer of a 3-course menu for € 24.95, that included a glass of Francis Lurton’s Organic Saugvignon, Syrah or Rose. On another occasion when I dined at Verres en Vers thanks to a work conference that was going on in a banqueting suite on the first floor myself and my coworker chose the Plateau Fruits de Mer at a price of € 65.50 for two, which included moist lobster, oysters, mussels, clams and a plethora of additional fishy treats. The dining experience here is really one to be savoured; the cool atmosphere is a major plus point to this all-round sophisticated and stylish establishment.
