This place really is the best kept secret on Aungier st. It’s a second hand book shop but is really easy to miss. Not only this, it’s only open four days of the week. It doesn’t even have a real name, it just says ‘Book Store’ in the window Wednesday to Saturday. It’s in a building adjoining the Carmelites Whitefriars church with a coffee shop in the back. It’s more a room filled with stacks upon stacks of books than a book shop in the conventional sense. It has feck all cataloging, but that’s part of the charm. You can spend ages browsing and come across some hidden gems. I picked up The Gunslinger for € 3 after a few minutes traversing the shelves. Perhaps the reason I love this place so much is because of the elderly lady who works there. She has no till, just change in her pocket. You can ask her for any book, and will either have it in her hands within seconds or tell you right off the top of her head that they don’t have it. They also have a ten cent book box, so if you want to pick up a novelisation of Ghostbusters 2, give it a gander. If you have some time to kill, check it out, you never know what you might find.
