I walked by this place and the sign in the window caught my eye. Most of it was in Chinese but there was one small bit in English«Steamed Buns Meat/Vegetable € 1.00». I’ve seen these buns in lots of different Hong Kong action movies and the like but I had never really noticed them on the menu anywhere else. I needed to try them. Inside was quite nice; lots of cafeteria type tables and chairs and a large service counter with lots of different dishes on display. I didnt try any of these dishes today but there was a sign in the window saying«Hot Food + Boiled Rice: € 5, Hot Food + Egg Fried Rice € 6& Hot Food + Noodles € 7». Just as we came in the door, a man came up from the basement with a fill tray of steamed buns and another weird looking thing that kind of looked like a potato pancake. I ordered by buns and my girlfiend, was intrigued by the pancake looking thing(which turned out to be a scallion pancake; a thick kind of eggy pastry filled with bean sprouts and scallions). We left and chowed down while we walked home. Everything was delicious. The only way I can think to describe it was as really comforting. I instantly decided that the next time I am hungover I will be staggering over here for a lovely self pity Chinese food binge.
