Had my first ramen since Japan here the other day, and I must say, it stood up pretty bloody well in comparison. You’d actually nearly walk past the place as their branding outside is maybe a little off — it looks quite fast-foody, and they weirdly have a travel agent and internet thing in with them too. I’d advise getting past that though and getting yourself in here for. They do lots of things and lots of things well, and above all, everything so FRESH. They make it all on the spot — sushi, donburi, ramen. My ramen was huge and full to the brim with flavour with quality ingredients, customised to what I wanted. They have lots of versions of gyoza on the menu too which I’m dyin to try out. The staff are bloody lovely too. Will most definitely be back!

Service was nice and friendly in this little sushi shop. Seating and ordering is a bit confusing for people. Do you sit first or do you order first then sit? No one seemed to know. As I sat I watched others come in with the same confusion as me. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box. I’m a bit of a teriyaki snob and so far haven’t found anything in Dublin that lives up to my snobby standard, including this place. The rice was a bit overdone and the chicken teriyaki was just okay. I will be back though and might change my rating, as it looks like this is the place to go for ramen noodles. Seeing others eating I wished that it was it had instead of my meal.

Went there with a Groupon and was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the food for the price. 8 pieces of sushi for 7 € is probably the best price in the city and you can get it custom made.

First impressions, not the best I got to say. There is literally a phone repair shop at one side of the restaurant. And the restaurant itself was quite cheaply looking, a real student hangout there I say. So it must have done something right to get 4 stars I hear you say. Well it deserves it for quality of food, price and the staff. The food tasted delicious and was nicely presented. For a voucher of about € 19, we got a green tea each, a bowl of edamame, 4 gyoza, 8 pieces of sushi and a bowl of ramen. Fan fiddly tastic! You get free range to pick exactly what fillings you want in your sushi and ramen so it suits your particular tastes. The staff were very friendly and informative which was an added bonus. First impressions definitely changed :)

This is a great spot to pick up some Japanese delights on your lunch hour, however, it’s not so great as an eat-in option, as the interior is tiny and very sparsely furnished. The prices are really excellent though and the food is fresh and you can customise practically everything from sushi rolls to ramen bowls or donburi(rice bowls). € 9.95 will get you a massive bowl of ramen with your choice of meat, veggies and toppings. I tried the chicken teriyaki and it was very tasty. I also had a prawn tempura roll with avocado and cream cheese and it was very fresh and tasted great. You can get 8 massive gyoza for € 6.95, the filling in these was really delicious, but the casing was a little thicker and more gelatinous than ones I’ve had before. They were nice but paled in comparison to gyoza I’ve had in the past in other Japanese eateries. The really friendly, polite staff coupled with the value and quality of the food mean that you can overlook the aesthetic failings of Yumo very easily! It’s a really great takeaway option for Japanese food and is super friendly on the pocket.

Can I give this place 6 stars? I was REALLY impressed with the quality of food here. Everything was freshly prepared and staff über chatty and friendly. We shared a starter of spicy edamame and beef gyoza’s. Both full of flavour. And then the fun part started: we built our own futomaki roll, they can do two different creations in the one roll. We got one with salmon and one with prawn tempura. and we let the friendly lady decide on the other fillings for us SOGOOD!!!(A roll costs just a mere 7 €) We also built our own ramen bowl(for 10 € you pick a broth, noodles, a protein, two veg and topping, oh and a boiled egg of course). Wow, one of the better ramen bowls I had in my life. Okay, so this is not a cozy restaurant, but don’t let the surroundings put you off. It’s perfect for a nice lunch or a quick dinner. The only tiny criticism I have is the teeny tiny sachets of wasabi. I prefer my wasabi to be fresh and plentiful. But that’s me being nitpicky now. Everyone who likes japanese: go ASAP!!!
