Really liked the bakers corner. My uncles play a gig here every few weeks so I went to watch and found that there was a great atmosphere about the place. Pints were € 5 so not crazy expensive and it appeared to attract a nice chilled crowd. A bit disappointed the ATM wasn’t working but other than that and the fact it was a bit too crowded to watch the rugby match as all chairs were taken around the TVs we really enjoyed our night here. The staff are incredibly friendly and when they saw we couldn’t use the ATM they offered us cash back straight away and always came over to see if we needed more drinks. All in all a lovely venue for all kinds of events!

My local. I have many fond memories of drinking here with friends and watching the Eurovision where my native Finland emerged as victors. The staff are spot on. I’ve never had a bad experience here. My parents came to visit and wanted a spot to have a little get together with their old neighbours. I booked a lovely area for about 20 of us. We enjoyed finger food and plenty of drinks and the prices were very reasonable. The goujons on the platter were gorgeous and tasted like proper homemade ones made with chicken breast. I remember the garlic cream potatoes being absolutely delicious too but it’s a while since I last had them. A great no nonsense kind of place within stumbling distance of home.

I worked here for one day 21 years ago. Mam was delighted then that I didn’t like bar work. Have to say it’s still a great little pub all these years later. Great band on a Saturday night and the owner is still as friendly as ever coming around to say hello to all his customers. Love the décor with the natural stone walls. Great to have a good local pub. Well, for those that live out that way!

I have spent many a fond college night out here. We would always start here and go onto town as it is right on the 46a bus route. Good for watching a match on the big screen. The food is amazing by college standards, read from that what you will. Never really got the«local» vibe off it but that could be because I don’t drink that often. But for someone who would, there is a bookies next door and chippers in every direction.

I have a real affinity with Bakers as it is the pub in which I purchaed my first pint. We all remeber world cup fever 1990 and I was not about to miss out on the atmosphere irrespective of the fact that I was only 16. «what age are you son»? ehhh 18 I proclaimed in my deepest possible tone…“ah fair enough so what can I get ya”? The rest is history, Bonner saved, O’leary scored and YESWE’RETHERE! quarter finals of the World Cup oh yeah! Bakers has changed since then but its a true local. Food is decent, service is great and I always just feel at ease here. The pub is now divided in a number of sections with a seperate bar area for the real«locals». Always a match on the telly and still a good spot to see an Ireland game. If you are ever in the vacinity then I would suggest popping in for a pint.

The first pub I went to when I came to Dublin. No particular reason apart from I used to live just around the corner. I’ve been back over the years and thankfully it hasn’t changed. A proper local, comfy, relaxed and not taking itself too seriously. They draw a good pint and will bring it to your table. It’s one of those places where you can just have a few quiet ones on a rainy day. Or start off a night out when you’re planning on heading into town and need a place to meet up at. Never too busy or crammed, always friendly. Pretty much what you’d expect from an Irish pub.

As local as locals get. Everyone knows everyone which makes for a nice atmosphere, even if you know no one. Offy in the back services the needs of the IADT students around the corner. A stones throw from several chippers and being right smack on the 46a route into town make this a great place to start the night. There’s also a function room upstairs, a decent smoking area and, in an oldschool throwback to a more hardcore time, a carpark.

What was once a small corner pub has followed the path of many another suburban pub and grown exponentially into a large boozing complex that exhibits all the grotesque tackiness of the modern pub that wants to look older but doesn’t even have the excuse that it’s doing it for tourists. This is an absurd pub with some stupid features as a result of rural areas being plundered for useless junk that city dwellers mistake for heritage items — a pony trap on the rafters!!! In fairness the barmen do know how to pull a proper pint of Guinness and the floor staff are friendly enough. They also serve decent but unremarkable food. I doubt I’d ever have darkened its door if I hadn’t gone to film school nearby and the couple of times I have been back it’s been rather odd not being there with a large group of friends. Efficient but dull. Fine for a few drinks after work but not somewhere that a tourist would want to visit.
