Went there a few times because it is so central and it has vegetarian options. This review is an overall view of three visits. Overall, the service for items from the main menu is very slow, even when the resturant is basically empty. I mean, really slow… I eat out with my 80 year old mother who considers an hour to be fast and she considers this place to be slow. The twice that we ordered from the main menu, the food was okay. Forgettable. The one time that we ordered from the lunch specials, the food was awful. We got the ‘Roasted Vegetable Sandwich’. It mentioned melted goats cheese, roasted peppers, etc. It tasted like a carrot sandwich. There were no goats cheese or peppers visible, just giant lumps of roasted parsnip and sweet potatos(aka, the cheap veggies). I complained and was asked if I didn’t know what a roasted vegetable sandwich was? … Well, yes, I also know when you are padding it with cheap veggies. To their credit, they immediately offered to replace it with something that I preferred. I said no, that was my choice, not their fault. Whatever is going on here isn’t the fault of the waitstaff. In any case, won’t be back.

I went there out of curiosity. The outsides and insides of the place do not look like much but the food compensates a lot… I had the salmon and my girlfriend had the linguini and we both agreed — very tasty food. The portions are really big and the food itself looks really nice. The only downside are the looks of the place. I must say it is comfortable but that is about it. To sum-up: + very tasty food + big portions nicely presented on the plate + good prices + comfortable, which is enough to have a nice meal — a big minus for the looks

A strange eatery, located right in the heart of Dun Laoghaire. Dark wood, purple velour seats, a single plastic flower at every table, Christmas lights hanging and chandeliers you would expect to find in a wealthy granny’s house. Even when it is incredibly bright out, Blue Ginger seems quite dark despite the best efforts of its large front window and glass doors. The lunch special is a lunch item from a select menu, plus soup/soft drink for € 9.99. The menu has stuff like, chicken curry, club sandwiches, caprese salads and wraps wraps. They should probably have coffee as part of the offer given its a lunch special but they don’t. I got the Mexican Cajun chicken wrap. It was fine. Nothing to rave about. Didn’t particularly taste, «cajun». A little greasy too. Chips weren’t great either. Coffee was quite good, that’s something! Blue Ginger is probably a much better place to eat in the evening, where it’s dark surroundings make it feel cosy and comfortable. In the harsh light of the day, it doesn’t feel like somewhere for lunch.

Really good food here. Deep fried Brie to start followed by stuffed chicken on a bed or chorizo mash. What was once Easons. the new owners have turned it into a nice little restaurant which doesn’t break the bank. With two courses for 17.95 and 3 for 20.95…it is sure worth the trip after a nice walk on the pier.
