Bake My Cake

So sad to see this place die. Yes, die. It’s like a death. It was such a willie wonka place to have nearby. But the Booterstown and Dundrum stores are both gone. Fingers crossed we’ll see them back in action someplace else before long. Hopefully with lemon meringue cupcakes …

Oh the cupcakes! They are just a piece of art — and taste! It is incredible. If you ask it for take away they even give you a super cute box, they you will probably want to keep.
The place is just a temptation to people on the way to the Booterstown train station. They make popcorn too and the smell from it comes in waves trying to make you go inside the shop and lose the train!
The prices are OK, 2,50 per cupcake and 2 for coffee. The shop is just lovely and their window deco is really well done. Just the location is not too nice, plenty of dead business around. But yeah, it totally worth a trip.

Wonderful and so helpful in getting a special personalised cake at very late notice. Great cakes and excellent service. Highly recommended.

The guys in Bake My Cake rock my world. These are better than Magnolia Bakery in NYC. Incredible selection to choose from –Terry’s chocolate orange is my favourite, or their 99 ice-​cream. They can also do cakes to order with a short notice period. They’ve a pop-​up shop on South Anne Street at the moment which is great to have them in the city centre. Delighted a few friends that were over for dinner with Bake My Cake cupcakes for dessert.

I’m probably too familiar with this place by now! Bake my cake is a delightful little bakery on Booterstown Avenue.
Their cupcakes are little works of art with some amazing flavours like chocolate peanut butter, marshmallows, crunchy and Oreo. The list goes on! Each cupcake is topped with delicious fresh creamy icing and the base usually has a jam, chocolate or lemon filling depending on the flavour.
Along with some lovely mars bar crispy squares, brownie, rocky road… Yes I’ve tasted it all!
Along with all this the gang sell amazing custom cakes for every occasion. They are very helpful and friendly so whatever kind I cake you’re looking for whether a hand bag or a dog they can do pretty much anything!
Along with all this as if it wasn’t great enough, they sell a wide variety of cupcake cases, sprinkles, icing, boxes, sparkly, glittery toppings. Again, the list goes on! Well worth a visit for any sweet tooth or baking enthusiast!
They also sell lots of the old fashioned sweets as well as coffees, milkshakes and ice-​cream.

BakeMyCake in Blackrock.
I found this tiny little bakery by fluke, looking for chocolate cigarillos for a birthday cake. Searching on the net for them I had two options — ordering in the UK and paying highly overpriced shipping fees, or driving to Blackrock… hmmmm I guess that was a no brainer ;).
I arrived in Blackrock to pick up some chocolate cigarillos and left with — haha yeah no surprise — a bag full of delightful goodies. Not only did I get delicious chocolate cigarillos decently priced but also tons of delicious decorations for cakes & cupcakes (edible glitter, pink strawberry chocolate flakes and much more) as well as a box of the most exciting cupcakes I have seen in a long time.
The variation is huge. Lovely decorated, fluffy and tasteful, filled with chocolate, marshmallows or vanilla and toped with mouthwatering icing. I will not take a way too much of the surprise, but you should check out the website to see for yourself what can be done with cupcakes — oh yeah you wont be disappointed ;)
I am sitting now here, at home, at my table, looking at an empty plate — not even a crumble left — yes, that’s how good they were — trying to figure out if I am happy I had such heavenly treats or sad that they are all gone.
The next steps on my to do list — plan another trip to Blackrock ;)
