Went here for lunch last week. Wasn’t expecting much I just ordered a Mexican wrap wasn’t to bothered what was in it just needed to grab something quick. WELL! When I started to eat it I was blown away. seriously great wrap! I’m so conditioned to the mild tasting deli take away food that this really caught me off guard. It’s a bit of a walk away from my office buy once a week in trying to make it up there the food really is that good. Fab please loads of choice and a great alternative to the fresh which is located beside them

My fav yet! Spicy chicken wrap with pesto, mayo, cheese and lettuce and toasted. Yum! They are not very friendly in here and sometimes you have to wait a bit. In the eve they are out of the spicy chicken so go at lunch!

YES! to this place if you are hunting for high quality light & healthy food and /or coffee place. If you are on the south side of the harp bridge it’s hard to find a place to get food unless you go to the grand canal. At the canal tHere are bars & restaurants plus a grocery store in the but this place has high quality food to pick up at reasonable prices. Open 7 days a week til about 7& opens at 6:30 am on weekdays. This is not a sit down restaurant — it has take out or take home dishes. There are a few tables outside plus it’s right on the lovely canal. They will make you a sandwich or entire picnic for the road on your travel day. This shop has light grocery fare such as yogurt, cheese & meats, pre-made salads & sandwiches, lovely fruit & vegetables, a bakery, crisps, sweets, hot vegetable soup, hummus, a lovely broccoli salad, many pasta and potato like salads, colorful cole slaw, & full coffee bar. It carries lots of take home & heat options plus pasta supplies. Best of all for me it has a high quality salad bar. Choose from very fresh greens & veggies, roasted peppers, chicken, seafood salad, salmon, chicken & tuna salads & more. There are bottles of wine available as well. If the weather is good eat right outside along the canal. Or take your picnic elsewhere or back to hotel. I ate a main meal from here every day since it was close to my hotel(Maldron). It’s hard to get a good salads(such as this picky American wants) in this country. But they have it right here.

Coffee was wonderfully rich, smooth and silky but my scone was like a rock :( It was a sunny day in Grand Canal Dock and we decided to chillax with a coffee and scone outside. For a pricey establishment in an upmarket area I was expecting a little more with the outside seating, even Fresh two doors down had more welcoming seating. Also the place has a more coffee and food-to-go vibe so everything was served in takeaway-style packaging. Now I have to say that the coffee was DEElish and with its spectacular foam art I was impressed but what really let us down were the super dry scones that we had to return for croissants instead. Was looking forward to my scone and strawberry jam :(In the end we also shared a pulled pork bap which was beautiful and full of flavour, albeit a little small. I’d definitely go back for a takeaway coffee again!

It’s nice to have new neighbours and DBF is a welcome addition to the shopping/eating options in GCD. OK it’s a lot smaller than the Donnybrook flagship, and is primarily focussed on the ready meal market but in this neighbourhood that is what will sell and it’s nice to have a broader choice. I haven’t tried much in the ready meals, but they look ok. The ready made pizzas are good, I’ve had the Quatro Formaggi a couple of times, 12 minutes in the oven and you have a really tasty pizza, generously topped with good cheese and if lime me you like your meat, then throw some chopped pancetta(about 2.50 for a small packet) and you have as good a pizza as you will get anywhere. The deli counter sandwiches are also good, fresh rolls and although not the biggest selection of options, they are fresh tasting and a lot better quality than your average SPAR deli. They also have DBF pâté, of which I have long been a fan. For S_there are also a godo range of desserts and confectionaries. Staff are polite and helpful and I look forward to getting to know them better. One quibble; please post your opening hours, it’s always good to know.

I’m delighted that Donnybrook Fair open up here last week. Its a small enough branch, offering mainly offering ready meals and a deli counter. They have a large range fo ready meals, all quite tasty. I’m an ingredient reader and if you check it out, you’ll find most things are actually made of real food, not fillers and other junk. Its a healthier option that the take away. They do have a very limited range of fresh veg and meats, enough to make do in a pinch. There’s also breads and treats which are very nice indeed! Oh, and the take away is OK. Better than the 2 places on either side of them!
