I couldn’t resist the charming store front and got an apple pie here. It was fine but nothing really out of the ordinary. It’s hard to say much else about it. In retrospect I should’ve ordered the banoffee pie to try something more unique. I can’t speak to the savory pies. The store is very small but definitely fun and interesting inside.

Stumbled across this place, loved the feel, the pies were wonderful, and the woman serving us was sweet, attentive and helpful. Best we had in Galway.

Don’t miss this place. The pies are baked to order(or can be taken home and baked later) and the atmosphere is great. They have both savory and sweet pies. The interior is so unique and the copper ceiling amazing. It is literally a stones throw from the main drag(Quay).

Service wasn’t very good, despite the fact this place is so small, but the food was great. The meat in the pies(chicken, beef) was tender and tasty. We also had the banoffee and found it to be a very light, not overly sweet, dessert.

I love little hole-in-the wall places like this. When you walk it, it’s warm, it’s tiny, smells like pie, and there is a case of perfect, homemade pies. I got the apple pie with whipped cream, and I loved it. Go there, get a little pie, enjoy a moment of bliss in this tiny pie shop, and support this little local business.

Do not underestimate this place. Inside may be small but their food packs big flavors. They serve traditional meat pies and some non-traditional meat as well as vegetarian ones. The location definitely feels cozy… It’s really small, low lighting, barely enough seats for 20 people. Off of one of those cobble-stone roads. It is a nice change from all the larger pubs in the same neighborhood. We went for pies with more Irish flavors– Irish sausage in veal gravy and beef in Galway stout pies. The pie crust has an amazing texture. You can also order your pie without the crust, in case you can’t have gluten or you are on a diet but don’t want to miss out on the flavors!!! And yes, they have a few dessert options. I can’t recall what they were because I was completely focused on their delicious banoffee pie! . I don’t know why anyone would not like this place. Just don’t come with more than a group of 4 because there is not enough seating!

:(was so excited and was so disappointed in the quality of service and food. Server was wearing shorts and everything seemed kind of dirty. It took two servers to serve 3 tables 40 min to get a couple pies out. Bummed we wasted our one meal in Galway here on burnt hot dog inside of black pie crust!

This place is amazing. After reading about it we went out and got the last seats in the house. It is such a nice place. The service was laid back, but it fits. Dont remember then name, but get the Australian peach drink, it was amazing! The pies were nice too and we really enjoyed our meal. If I hadnt read about on Unilocal I maybe would not have entered or even found this place, so thanks Unilocal and for all the others: go eat here(:

Much like pie, this place is cozy and wonderful. I was incredibly pleased to find a veggie-friendly pie place in Ireland. The curried carrot pie easily stands up to Pie Minister’s veg pies, and it was here that I first found something positive to say about mushy peas.

Love this place. We had 3 different dinner pies and 2 dessert pies. All were fantastic. Service was excellent. I highly recommend it.

If you love Pies like me, this is definitely worth a stop! The restaurant is cozy small — it only has 3 booth to sit. So i assume most customers get theirs to go. You’ll find 10 salty and 5 sweet pies — at least it was like that when i was there in 2013. The Pies are delicious so would definitely stop by again!

We did a one day road trip to Tullamore, Galway and up to the Cliffs of Moher — and found this little gem on Unilocal; and decided to give it a shot. To put it lightly, we were extremely pleased. 1. The place is tiny– and simply adorable. 2. The girl working was so accommodating, friendly and genuine. 3. The pie was flaky, tasty and full of goodness. The gravy was tasty and the cabbage was exceptional. The girl working kept offering us more cabbage and potatoes — and genuinely cared a lot about the little restaurant. After having lunch — we went and walked around Galway which is a super cute little town. Highly recommended spot if you find yourself in Galway!

If you’re a «peas can’t touch my carrots can’t touch my mashed potatoes» kind of person, then this place isn’t for you. The pies are mainly served nestled in a bowl of peas, sweet cooked red cabbage, mashed potatoes and gravy, and that’s exactly how you should order it — it’s a fantasy of flaky crust and mixed-together goodness. It’s how your mom would make pies, if she had a recipe that had been passed down in her family for generations. I had the Beef & Galway Stout Pie, which was extremely flavorful(and the pie maker herself said that was her favorite on the menu), and had a glass of Merlot to go along with it instead of a stout. The place is as hole in the wall as they come, a refreshing sight amid all the bars. The décor is interesting, too, with antique candlesticks, a makeshift hat chandelier and a photo of JFK.

What a gem! Tucked on a side street, the Pie Maker is a beckon calling those longing for warm and local comfort food after a long day’s comings and goings in Galway. The inside is cute cozy; keep in mind it is very tiny, so not ideal for large groups. We split the beef and galway stout pie, which was delicious: savory and smooth gravy, a hearty filling, and flaky crust. We also had the apple pie with cream, a light and sweet end to our meal. I highly recommend both pies, and I’m sure the other pies on their menu are just as good. The staff is attentive and friendly, and they do have free wifi! Overall, this was one of my favorite meals when in Ireland.

I immediately saw the appeal of Pie Maker when I walked in. It’s just gorgeous inside. Small but meticulously decorated. I really love how they made use of the space. Full of charm. I ordered a beef and stout pie with the mash, veg and gravy. Unfortunately the mash potato was cold(I mean not even heated cold), but no problem. The lovely waitress apologised and rectified it immediately. Great, these things happen and it’s how they are dealt with that counts. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. If you ever have had a Pie Minister or Pie Man pie, you can’t but help compare the pies here to them. At least I couldn’t. The beef was pieces of sliced beef; not chunky beef pieces you’d expect in a pie. The pastry was meh and the over all flavour disappointing. The veg and gravy didn’t enhance the meal either. All that said, it was when I went to pay at the counter that was the biggest disappointment of this visit. A member of staff at the counter(manager maybe, she wasn’t wearing an apron) looked at me offering money and unsmilingly said that she will take for it. She indicated to the nice waitress who took my order, who was busy with a drinks order for a table of four. She then continued to look down at what she had been doing before I interrupted her. I waited uncomfortably a bit and then asked if she could not take my money. Flustered, she didn’t appear to know how to use the tablet till they had. By which time the waitress had become free and she took over. Baffling behaviour. I’ve notice this recently in a few businesses, the«it’s not my job» attitude of staff. All front of house staff should be prepared to deal with customers in the hospitality industry, no? Two stars: one for décor, one for the waitress working her feet off. Not that any of this matters, Pie Maker is 1st on the Unilocal list of Galway Restaurants, so clearly this formula works.

This review is long overdue. A cute little pie shop with friendly service, I distinctly remember this being the best meal we ate while in Ireland. The vegetarian options were fantastic, including the veggie gravy. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to nibble on a beef and stout pie. Because it was our babymoon, we finished our meal on a blustery November evening with a plate of banoffee goodness. My only complaint is that this shop is halfway around the globe from me. The world is a cruel, cruel place.

I love sweet pie but I love savory pie more and The Pie Maker has some of the tastiest savory pie I’ve ever had! We stopped by on a whim for lunch at about 3pm. They seemed to be between the lunch and dinner crowd so they were out of some pies but more were on the way. We started with a beef and Galway stout pie. That is served with your choice of salad or mashed potatoes, mushy peas, apple braised cabbage and gravy. We went potatoes. Yum. The pie itself was baked golden brown with light flaky crust. The beef filling was tender and well seasoned. With the gravy and potatoes it was perfect on a chilly day. We had nothing to do so we held out while they brought more pie. Our next selection was spinach, kale, walnut, and feta. Yep, it was good; kind of like creamed spinach but with chunks of feta! We had to go back to potatoes again because they were whipped and delicious. The pie shop is ultra small — only three tiny tables so consider take away. If you do done in, they have wifi and a bathroom which is nice to find in a small restaurant.

This is a cramped little place but it’s worth squeezing in or otherwise having takeout, because their pies are likely the best I have ever had. There are a few options to choose from. We had the Feta, spinach, chard and walnut pie which was accompanied with mash, mushy peas and veggie gravy. They were not the gross fluorescent mushy peas of my childhood, but were actually rather nice. The meal as a whole was delicious so even though we were only in town for 3 nights, we made sure to come back. On our return we also decided to chance dessert and were not at all disappointed by the awesome apple pie that came our way. An essential stop if you are in town

Good, but not as good as my mom’s pies! The Pie Maker is a small and quirky restaurant in Galway that seats about 15 diners. The menu includes a selection of sweet and savory pies. We already had dinner so we stopped into The Pie Maker for dessert. During our visit we were disappointed to learn that the only two dessert pies available that night. You would think that the«Pie Maker» would carry a larger selection of pies! Our choices for dessert were the Bannoffy Pie(banana & toffee) or the Apple Pie. My husband selected the apple and my sister and I ordered the Bannoffy. I don’t think I would have ordered the Banoffy if I hadn’t read so many rave reviews on Unilocal. The Banoffy pie was fine, but it had a disappointing graham cracker crust. My favorite part of the pie is the warm, flaky crust and instead I was stuck eating cold, dry graham cracker crumbs. The banana and toffee filling were fine, but overall I just wasn’t a fan of this no-bake pie. My husband’s pie was much better, but it didn’t hold a candle to my mom’s award winning apple pie. I’d return to try the savory pies, but I would be hesitant to order dessert again unless there were different options to order from.

Yay for the pies !
