Visited this place on a site seeing tour of the West Cork in 2010. There is a lot to see around it, and if you get one of the sea view rooms, a lot to look at. This place was obviously built to take advantage of one of the best views of Bantry Bay. They bill this as one of the oldest hotels in Ireland: there are photos on the wall taken in the 1800’s, and if you have a nose around you can see some of the furniture(I found a table) that’s in the pictures. It was a hotel then too. The staff put themselves out for the guests, friendly and full of advice about the area and its history. Be warned: If you’re looking for a sterile Holiday Inn type hotel: this isn’t it… It’s old and quirky… word of advice: be wary of insanely high water-pressure from the old plumbing. Other details: The fried breakfast is heartstoppingly good, but there are more healthy options available. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but I did have a steak in the bar. It was good, the chef knows what ‘rare’ means. Other relevant details: The Glengarriff village proper is a 3min walk up the road, there’s a decent playground for kids just before the village. For sightseeing visit Garnish Island first, the ferry is 2 mins from the hotel.

This is a lovely old hotel looking right out onto Glengarriff harbour. The hotel has been refurbished nicely with furniture that is modern but that still gives a nod to the age of the hotel in a tasteful way. This is a great hotel for a wedding there is a great room to use as the wedding venue, it has lots of light and gorgeous views out onto the water. Other than that the food is good, the service is friendly and efficient and attention to detail is as you would hope for, for a wedding. You can come in here for food other than just for a wedding of course, there is a great pub food menu which is great after a few drinks, its good before the drinks too but you know what i mean! I like the way that you can sit outside the hotel on a terrace type thing that covers the front of the hotel, you get a real summer feeling when all he hanging baskets are out and there are lots of people floating around enjoying themselves.
