A gorgeous, bright and breezy spot, nestled in the heart of Easkey village! Having been a regular customer of the Pepper Pot in Dublin’s Powerscourt Centre, I was curious to see what Dervla would do next. What Dervla and her husband(and staff) serve is certainly the Irish equivalent of soul food. Simple, flavourful fare, from the heart, served in stunning surroundings. The bright airy café with its beautiful reclaimed wood benches affords stunning views down Easkey’s coastline, across the Atlantic ocean. The bookshelves that line the walls are filled with colourful cookbooks and beautiful displays of vintage crockery that she has collected over the years, lending real character to the café that is housed in an unassuming modern building. I dined here one blustery afternoon with my parents, whose tastes are simple and uncomplicated, they were impressed by the presentation and quality of the sandwiches — served on large comforting slices of fresh bread — baked in house that morning. I had the creamy scrambled eggs, and a large mug of steaming hot chocolate. Pudding Row pleases everyone — even fussy family members! I’m hoping to attend one of her bread making classes in the new year, worth travelling across the country for! Bravo to the Conlons!
