Great bakery with wonderful pastries, tea and coffee and the nicest employees you will ever meet. I really just went in to trade coins for paper money and the folks were so nice I just had to buy something!

A handy spot for a cup of tea and a scone when you’re in transot to somewhere from Heuston Station. The staff were prompt and friendly. The scone was fresh. It was all good!

The Sugar Loaf Bakery offers a range of pastries, paninis, snacks, coffee and tea to keep you company on your intercity journey from Heuston station(unless of course you’re one of those people who likes hanging out at railway stations ‘just because’.) The store is pretty no-nonsense, and your orders will be barked at you when ready, so make sure you know what you want when you get to the counter and that you’re ready and waiting when your order is called. If you are tossing up between the sugar loaf bakery and Café to Go across the way, don’t get your knickers in a knot over your decision — they’re run by the same bunch, so have pretty much identical products. Café to Go has better pre-packed sandwiches, a-la the UK chain Pret-a-Manger, while the Sugar Loaf Bakery does more of the made to order variety.
