Excellent high-quality Irish food served in a very classy atmosphere by a nice waitstaff. The only problem is that you can eat exactly this well and fancy in many pubs now in Ireland, for 1⁄3 the price, so unless decorum and fancy feelings is your thing, I suggest you head to Murphy’s bar instead.

Good location and décor. Good staff but the food was poor. Don’t go for the steak. Badly cooked with underdone frozen chips!

Fist the food was good but, the end of the dinner was ruined by being asked to tip. After that I used the restroom. The toilet paper was Hun off half on the roll support because the other portion had been removed leaving two exposed screws with sharp ends. The toilet would not flush and after washing my hand and drying them on a paper towel the foot operated trash can was broken forcing me to open it with my hand. They might think of spending some of the money on improving there facilities.

This was a good dinner experience when compared to the other dinner choices in Kenmare. The menu was more creative than most of the restaurant ins town, and the early bird special was a good deal if you found an entrée on the list that excited you. Our table’s best dishes were the seafood chowder and the salad. Two things that lessened the experience…(1) only two waitresses for a full dining room meant very slow service… while they were very nice and clearly working hard, it still took a TON of time to get any attention and I saw one couple walk out of the restaurant because they didn’t get menus after being seated for quite awhile and(2) the tables are packed together, so you get that awkwardness of feeling like you’re sharing a table with the couple next to you(since they’re only about 2 feet away and lined up with your seats). It’s only open Thur-Sun for dinner, and it was very crowded when we left so I recommend reservations or coming early.

This award-winning restaurant situated in a beautiful old building cannot be missed. Offering a rustic yet innovative menu, including various different seafood and meat dishes, there is something for everyone here. The atmosphere is not as relaxed as the proprietors would like to think and depending on the crowd The Limetree can sometimes feel a bit formal. On the plus side, staff are always extremely friendly and helpful without being over-familiar. Prices are reasonable enough for the high standard of food and are in line with other restaurants in the Kenmare area.
