Only spent one night in Kenmare, picked this restaurant after a lap around town based on the posted menus, and got in for the early-bird prix-fixe(30E for three courses before 7PM.) What a find! Hands-down, best meal we’ve had in Ireland, and one of the best of anywhere. Between us we had the tomato-basil soup, seafood chowder, roast chicken, and pork belly on cabbage(my favorite!) served with perfect potatoes and roasted vegetables. Desserts were lemon-lime posset and chocolate terrine, each served with a little ice cream– both terrific. Service and ambiance were superb. I see this restaurant is not currently listed on the Unilocal«best of» for Kenmare, yet, as it’s still fairly new. But it will be.

My first trip to Ireland, we stayed a mile from the heart of Kenmare. What a lovely quaint town. The Mews is probably the best restaurant in Kenmare. We were so lucky we stumbled upon this gem. I enjoyed the beef filet and goat cheese tart. Delicious. It’s off the main street so easy to miss if you’re just walking around. The staff was stellar.

Our first night in Kenmare was spent at Packie’s(which by the way was delicious) but we were unsure where to dine our 2nd night. While we had narrowed it down, we decided to ask our server at Packie’s what she recommended — and The Mews it was. Located right off Henry Street on Henry Court, The Mews it a small new restaurant. Walking in, we loved the décor. Clearly much thought went into it, making it warm and cozy. While there are quite a few tables, it has a great lay out. Maria was our server as well as one of the owners. We loved chatting with her about not only her history in the restaurant business, but the birth of this new gem. The food was incredibly delicious with beautiful presentations. No doubt they will have continued great success.

Wonderful new restaurant in Kenmare, just off the main road(down a side mews obviously). Smart, sophisticated space yet very comfortable. Greeted at the door by a charming, welcoming woman, and served by the most professional server we’ve experienced in Ireland. Absolutely delicious meal: the starter of falafel-stuffed mushroom was amazing, and the salmon entrée was the best we had in Ireland.
