As beach comes, this is not the white sandy beach kind… What is does offer is some great views across the Dublin Bay; from Dalkey Island off to Bray head the whole coast line is visible to you and on a sunny day it’s breathtaking; whilst on a not-so-sunny day it is also great to park up and watch the waves crash in, something I love doing on a stormy day. It’s quite a stoney beach though when the tide is out there is better stretches of sand to sit/lay out on. As a beach nearby me, it’s lovely to take a stroll here early morning or late evening, the peace and again beauty of the views just makes it a true relaxing haven to unwind and clear the mind. There are public toilets as well as ample parking, it is pay and display Mon-Fri however all other times, it’s free game. There isn’t shops nearby so if you are planning the day out here, make sure to pack the beverages and sandwiches otherwise it’s a little track to the nearest village.

I used to walk on this beach daily as it was close to where I lived. The best part of the day for me was early in the morning or in the evening when it was quieter. No matter the weather we are luck to have this beach so close to the city and easy to get to. I remember one day while I was walking the beach there were 100’s of starfish at the waters edge and I had great fun flinging them back into the sea — I hoped they lived for another day.

Killiney Beach is a great beach with a blue flag, just south of Dublin. The Killiney and Dalkey area is known for being the Irish home of stars such as Bono and Enya, so there is a lot of tourists around. The beach itself is nice for a walk during the cold months and great for a swim in summer. It tends to be pretty crowded though, so you might want to get there early if you want a nice spot. You can get the DART from the city centre or the bus out to Bray and walk from there. It’s a nice spot and you can pretty much forget that you’re living in the city when you relax in the sun out here.

Grown-up kids of South County Dublin are probably very familiar with Killiney Beach. We used to be brought here in the summertime as children, thrown a packet of Tayto crisps(and a ninety-nine if we were good) and sent to build«sandcastles» in the pebbles. The icy water would send daggers up your toes, and boy was it windy. But a visit to Killiney was always a pleasant day out. The DART goes straight to Killiney Beach, and the journey between Dalkey and Killiney stations is worthwhile in itself for the spectacular views from the cliffs over the sea. The long stretch of pebbly strand is a perfect spot for a brisk dogwalk. If this beach were sandy instead of stoney, and the sun actually shone in Ireland, it would be a really beautiful spot.

Not the sandiest of Beaches, this place is probably best for walking and running on(near the water) … its good for a fresh breeze and perhaps if you can brave the cold a little dip. Though the shore drops off quite quick here and you will need to watch any younger children getting in. Its good to bring your dog here for a walk however there are some silly rules that say any dog found without a leash on the beach will be taken by what i presume is the county council. There is often a dog warden here on duty. In my opinion it is a huge waste of money and simply stupid to think that a dog would not be allowed enjoy itself in such an open and wild area. The beach is very stony… but it can get a good wind for kite surfing sometimes. I have heard of a few good swells here for some very very moderate surfing waves though in general this place is not the best for surfing.
