I was sadly disappointed with my stay at Scotts, but I’m not sure that they can take all the blame. My room backed onto a parking lot which was home to a traveling carnival during my stay. Which meant that the kids in the fun house could literally look into my room, which is slightly disconcerting. When I called down to comment on the noise and ask to be moved so I could get some sleep, I was told that all the rooms were booked(it was a busy weekend with the Cork vs Kerry football rematch going on) and that the noise would likely die down when the carnival closed, after midnight. Besides, I was told, there is a live concert on the other side of the building, so it’s loud over here too. …I don’t think that’s the right answer, but what can they do? Which basically tells me their location is great if you’re a party animal, kinda crappy if you’re a solitary traveler who just came to check out the scenery. Overall, my room was nice(apart from the prying eyes) and the location is very central(maybe too central?), and not really worth the amount of money I paid for it. And I think that’s the main point… it wasn’t bad, but it was overpriced for what it was. Anyway, Killarney is an awesome town that I can’t wait to see again… but I sincerely doubt that Scotts will be my home base for my next adventure there.

This hotel was beyond what I imagined. The staff were friendly and overly accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable, and modern. It was also conveniently located in the center of Killarney next to all the shops and restaurants. Can’t wait to be back!

The location and parking are great. The staff is friendly. The accommodations leave something to be desired. The walls are paper thin so you hear every door close and every person as they walk through the halls while you are trying to sleep. The beds are hard and very uncomfortable. The food is nothing to be impressed by.

Everything so far was excellent. We stayed two nights. Rooms were clean and«home-y» feeling. We had dessert at the restaurant and all I can say is-you have to try their warm apple pie and custard before leaving Killarney! Amazing. Great customer service. Woman at front desk was very helpful and kind.

I only ate here. The food was pretty underwhelming. Basic options available and not executed very well. I had the roast pork loin and it was over cooked and I was confused by the piles of two different kinds of mashed potatoes that dominated the plate. My wife had a steak ciabatta and didn’t care for it that much. Service was friendly though!

Called in for Lunch today. ordered the Special Shepherds Pie, which at € 9.50 i was expecting to be a small enough portion, and it was massive when it came out. unbelievably tasty, fresh, hot and with a good sized portion of chips and salad. i was delighted with it. my friend had the Caesar Salad with chicken and also it was a huge portion. service was good. fast and friendly.

The location and the free underground parking was great. The room was clean although small while the view was of the parking lots.

Pros: Nice lobby, bar, & staff, centrally located Cons: water pressure, moldy smelling bathroom, noisy location, awful mattress and blanket. I would most likely not stay here again, but if I did, I might try a room on the other side of the hotel. The entrance side is very noisy because of the beer garden next to the pub.

This place is in a good location for site seeing since you can basically walk to the best local spots. The water pressure in the shower is practically nonexistent. It barely trickles out. The bed is hard and I can feel the springs in the mattress but after sight seeing it didn’t really stop me from sleeping. The breakfast was ok, nothing special. I also had lunch at the pub on the corner that is attached to the hotel. That was an excellent meal, however not sure if it’s a good place to hang out at night. I had a couple pints there but it was a VERY rowdy crowd… There was a moment when I had a drunk local approach my group looking for trouble. Fortunately that didn’t escalate. Overall this was a decent place to stay but not sure I would return.

Other reviews mentioned that this place can’t decide if it wants to be a Holiday Inn or something nicer. Very true. On the plus side their location is terrific and they have a parking garage. Rooms are a decent size and the lobby is pretty nice with its fire. Also, if there is a problem the staff does what it can to fix it. On the minus, the #1 thing a hotel must supply is a good night’s sleep. This place has the most miserable beds we’ve ever encountered. Hard as rocks, caving in, and actually falling over. The only solution available is to get extra duvets and double them up as padding. Also, much sound comes through even closed Windows. Not a problem on the odd number side of the building but the even side can be very loud very late with all of the bar activity.

Based on the review, outside seating has excellent service but apparently not indoor seating! After ordering my food 30 minutes ago, I’m still waiting… Update: their service is horrendous, I had to asked for the manager to make a complaint and the server tells me that she doesn’t know where the manager went. After waiting for about an hour, food finally came and the taste was just mediocre. For the price I had to paid, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Like most of the other reviews it is nicer than a holiday inn but not by much. Due to the location it is worth it if you can save some cash in a off season. the lobby looks higher end and staff is nice but not too helpful. We needed directions and no one there drove or could help us out. Not a big deal and I just bought a map. The breakfast was ok nothing super but not too bad. I always got the standard Irish breakfast and it was fine. If you want the best breakfast in the area head to the family diner across the street. It is where the locals eat and for a good reason. Delish and cheap(around $ 7.00 E per person with tea or coffee.) Also if heading out at night they lock the gate so drunks can not go down the alley/street that the hotel is facing, so you have to walk all the way around by the parking. Not a big deal but I wish they would tell you a head of time. Bed are stiff but not too bad. You get used to it and after a long day site seeing you really do not care. The Grand hotel at the end of the street is the best pub around with live music at night. I would rec. to check it out and enjoy a pint.

Great service and not to expensive in the off session. About a mile from the city center, where all the action takes place. Rooms are pretty comfortable.

Scotts Hotel can’t make up it’s mind if it wants to be a nice, fancy hotel or a Holiday Inn… They have lots of nice touches, like a nice lobby with plenty of comfy seating, a resident bar(both with fireplaces) but their restaurant is right in the middle of it all, with only some cheap handrail-type bars to separate everything. Reception is moderately friendly, not very knowledgable– we asked where we could find ice cream and were directed that«possibly the Centra around the block.». Upon further exploration the next night, there are a number of adorable ice cream shops with two-three blocks. Our hotel room is a little tight, but they did upgrade us to a «suite» with an attached kitchen and living room that remind us of a college dorm. The bathroom has really nice heated floors, but a toilet that doesn’t flush well, a stand up shower stall that is extremely tight(and I am an averaged sized person), and a sink with separate faucets for hot and cold like you see in public restrooms. Our bed is a very hard double, with military grade sheets and blankets… Not very comfortable after a long day of touring the area… The breakfast is the only food we ate at Scotts, and only because we prepaid for it. Their scrambled eggs are literally dripping with butter and oil, and they don’t even offer boiled eggs. Definitely not worth it– get breakfast at the coffee bar literally right outside the front entrance to the hotel. All in all, Scotts Hotel is sufficient, great location right in the middle of the city, with free underground parking(although a bit difficult to find at first). We give the hotel itself a one or two star rating, but the location is great which is why the overall rating is a three stars. As a side note to location– they do have their own attached bar, which can be a bit noisy, but quiets down by around 10pm.
