My favourite spot to visit when we are in Killorglin! Food is always top notch and service excellent. Menu changes regularly and always has interesting specials. Got a table on New Year’s Eve last minute and enjoyed another fabulous meal. We ordered a selection of tapas and shared, the cod special with egg sounded so strange but was amazing! Calamari is excellent. Desserts are fab as well. Well priced too. Highly recommended even if it seems odd eating tapas in rural Ireland!

Lovely ambiance in an updated, old stone church. I had a delicious seasonal salad with wonderfully fresh fruit, vegetables and greens. Also split daily special crostini with creamy goat cheese. My husband had hummus and tapenade on fresh bread, he was in heaven.

With it’s unique classy interior and simple yet extremely tasty Tapas Menu SyS is definitely worth looking into. Excellent dining experience in the converted Church of Ireland church in Killorglin. Menu is very tasty(i’m a particular fan of the prawns in garlic oil). All reasonably priced for Tapas and with a great selection for vegetarians and meat/fish lovers. On special occasions the venue also doubles as a great late night venue for intimate gigs. Occasionally they host a cinema night offering a movie and meal deal that is great value and a good night out. Bar has a full compliment of the usual beers on tap and craft bottled beers as well as a diverse and informed selection of wines from around the world. Perfect for a group of friends or work colleagues or even just a couple wanting good food. Solys’ always feels intimate and the staff are friendly, polite and helpful. Booking in advance on weekends would be advised to avoid disappointment.

Excellent dining experience here in the converted Church of Ireland church in Killorglin. It’s truly a wonderful interior, definitely worth looking in just to see it on the inside. We didn’t have a reservation and they were fully booked, but they leave the bar free for walk ins, so we took two places up there. It was very comfortable, for bar seats. We ordered: Potatas bravas — nice The meatballs — they were nice, but sauce was very pedestrian Asparagus — excellent and served ingeniously Monkfish — also excellent I had the chocolate fondant for dessert and while it was very nice, it was hard in the middle like it wasn’t cooked through. The wine was excellent, Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, if memory serves me. The service was extremely professional here, our guy behind the bar was impeccably dressed and very attentive. The few things that it drops a star for: The meatball sauce, the chocolate fondant and overall found it to be pricey. 75EUR for four dishes(meatballs was a large), one dessert and a bottle of wine(which was 25EUR).

Sol Y Sombra is a Tapas restaurant in a really nice building. Its an old church with a big open area and high roofs. The Bar resides on the left hand side and is the centre piece to the room. We ended up sitting here because all the tables were booked out. However it was a very comfortable bar to sit at and quick access to the BAR! The food although quite pricey comes in generous tapas sizes and all of our courses were delicious. We had Potatas Bravas, a skewer of monk fish, scallops and bacon, meat balls and aspargus wrapped in filo pastry. Yes it tasted as good as it sounds. To go with our meal we had a bottle of white wine, a Pinot Grigo which was also very nice. The staff were quick and friendly. Killorgan is a lovely town and has its fair share of restaurants but i’d recommend this one first!
