I visited here on the weekend with my mum and two sister’s as a ‘lets get some lunch on the fly’ type of day. My parents have been here a number of times and really like it. We were greeted and handed menu’s and we ordered. The menu is lovely, really broad from fish of the day to a great children’s menu. Our drinks were brought out but mum’s glass of water was missing, we didn’t say anything until the food arrived. I asked for the glass we ordered, as did my mum at the same time and the look that the waiter gave my mum would have had me return my lunch and leave– however my sisters growling tummy wouldn’t have allowed it. I was really shocked by the look he gave her, then to return with three glasses of water– again, either one drink short or two too many. The food was nice and reasonably priced. The staff were the only real let-down here if I’m honest. Two of the plates were removed at the end and two just left there, then when we asked for the bill one more was removed, leaving one behind. Was really confused by the service but the food was really great and the atmosphere is one of a Sunday lunch with the family which as just what we were looking for.

Probably the worst pint of Guinness I’ve ever had, which is impressive considering the fact that I lived in the US for 5 years. In terms of atmosphere, you’d probably be better off at the bottom of a lake. Would rather hang out at the Esso station across the road.

Pros: — conveniently on way back from Wicklow — delicious pint of Guinness — solid chips and chicken tenders — fair price Cons: — out of fish and chips when I was there

Five of us celebrated a birthday at Pluck’s of Kilmacanogue on Friday, March 20th. My sister in law lives nearby, this was our first visit under the new management. The interior is lovely, soft shades of sage green, with white woodwork and dark wood for tables/bar. A lamp is placed within each of the window alcoves casting a soft light. There are TV’s placed in key locations for sports enthusiasts, but they do not monopolize the room. The menu had something for everyone, two of us had the fish of the day, sea bass which was excellent. The service was also very good and we had a great evening. They even made a special birthday dessert with the birthday girl’s name in chocolate syrup. A nice touch! It is a new place and seems like it is undiscovered, but would highly recommend, I think they may have function rooms upstairs for small private parties. Located just off the N11 at the Kilmacanogue roundabout Pluck’s is a great spot to meet up with friends for dinner or just drinks.
