I stumbled on to this gem of a café when I was walking in Kinsale. I had a half sandwich and soup for € 7.50(great value). The soup was Green Thai Curry Vegetable. The flavor was spectacular. The fresh herbs exploded in my palette. The Sandwich was a croque with pear, ham, cream cheese and cheddar. The combination of flavor was spectacular. COFFEE was delicious. A blend of 60% Arabica /40% Robusta. Lovely character and a gentle high. I will come back every time I’m in Kinsale form now on. Absolute treasure of a café.

After having walked back into town from Charles Fort, a visit to Poet’s Corner was on my agenda. Not just to sample a toastie, tea & brownie from this charming little café, which I most assuredly did, but to exchange a couple of books. I had brought a couple of older paperbacks with me on my trip & thought I might swap them for one from the café’s collection — it’s a give 2/take 1 policy & they have a fair collection, organized by genre. After finding a seat & placing my lunch order, I did just that, settling on a UK edition of an old Mary Higgins Clark novel set on Cape Cod. Service was quick & the staff was attentive & friendly. The food was delicious & the tea was also excellent, which after having spent several days in Ireland & downing countless cups of tea, is saying something. Definitely worth a visit for a quiet & light meal & a bit of people watching while you enjoy the lovely little town of Kinsale.

Place is filled with locals and tourists alike because they have great coffee and a variety of delicious scones, pastries, toasties(toast with different toppings) and even soups and salads during lunchtime. They also have a nice selection of books to browse. I particularly liked the scones that are baked fresh each morning. Everything is reasonably priced with regular coffee being around 2.20 euros. Be aware that they don’t do drip coffee in Ireland; it’s basically an Americano when you ask for just coffee.
