The ball alley

Avoid the bar. It’s a scary abyss!
The lounge is lovely and great for sitting down for a chat with friends. It’s nice to have a good bit of parking nearby.
There’s a nice little cubby in the lounge that can be reserved for small parties and its perfect for having an area reserved but not feeling out on your own.

I am just old enough to remember the Ball Alley before it was refurbished. It seems so long ago that I remember having my first pint there in what seemed, to a young man, like a dark outpost, far away from all civilisation. It was not without it’s charms.
Today, or post refurbishment, the pub has managed to remain a classic pub, retaining all the values things that made it and make it so good.
The Guinness is among the tastiest in Dublin.
The staff are great. Dropping pints down to you, clearing tables and asking «How’s the father?»
In top of this, there’s never (excluding the rare band appearance) loud music playing. The only thing you have to talk over is the sound of other folk, having the best conversation they’ve had all week.
So do yourself a favour. Call up that friend you’re about to lose touch with, and get down to the Alley.

the lounge area in the ball alley is very tasteful. the décor resembles that of a quaint country residence that anyone would like. however the bar area is… well… dark damp and decrepit. the food was good however there is still better in lucan.
