After reading the various reviews on Unilocal,my wife and I decided to give Coastal Café a try on our day trip to Malahide. We both opted for the Chicken Basil Panini — which was served on a delicious bread and packed a tasty flavor. A cup of soup(this day, it was tomato) and small salad of greens accompanied our paninis. All for 6.95 Euro… a bargain. The best part of this lunch, though, was the dessert options. They all looked amazing and made the decision process a bit challenging. Not whether, or not, to have dessert, but which one to pick! So, instead of picking one and sharing, we went«all in» and each ordered our own — the rhubarb pie and carrot cake. Both tastes as good as they looked. After polishing off these tasty treats and downing our Americano cafés, we strolled out, with full bellies, for our trek to Malahide Castle. What a great day and great memory.

I came here on my birthday and they brought me a piece of cake with a candle! They even sang to me which was sweet. Everyone ordered off of either the breakfast or lunch menu. The food looked and tasted great! Our last location was Paris and this food was like a breath of fresh air after some terrible experiences in France. The coffee is also very good.

Went there today for a quick lunch before a lovely walk in Malahide Castle and I’m glad I chose this place based on previous reviews… thanks Unilocal! I got one of the specials — crispy duck salad which was gorgeous and they didn’t skimp on the duck :) My mate had one of their ciabattas and soup on the menu but wasn’t blown away and said it was quite standard fare. The two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc rounded off the meal nicely. Service was very quick and friendly, and prices very reasonable. Two lunches and two glasses of wine came up to just under € 30. Definitely give it a go, but choose your main carefully!

Loved their hot chocolate! Perfect on a cold, rainy day in Malahide. Parking, as with all Irish towns, can be tricky, but look for the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and presto, car parking solved. Great for breakfast or pastry treat. They serve wine, too!

Went to the Coastal Café for Sunday brunch. Arrived a little past 12 noon and the place was packed. The only space available was one of their two outside tables, which was perfect for my wife and I, we love eating outdoors. Waitress promptly greeted us with menus and cleaned the table for us. We had to wait a bit for her return, but no worries, the menu was filled with so many great items it was hard to decide. We were worried when we saw on the menu that breakfast was only served until 12pm, but when she returned our waitress said breakfast would be no problem. My wife went with bagel egg & bacon sandwich which she really enjoyed, REALLY good bagel. She also thought the OJ was delicious. I went with the warm brie and baked ham wrap with red onions & peppers and a glass of their house sauvignon blanc. All their wraps are served with the soup of the day and a small salad. Today’s was tomato and it hit the spot since there was a slight chill in the air. We were very pleased with our experience here. Delicious food, great service and not a bad value for Malahide. Can’t wait to go back and try their pancakes.

It was the GFs birthday, and I thought we would head away for the day, a little brunch, followed by a walk, followed by dinner… a perfect day! We ended up down New Street looking for a coffee house and we came to Coastal Café, and it was FULL to capacity,…my tiny brain immediately thinks ‘full coffee house = great place!’ So we queued outside, can you believe it in these recession filled(Don’t you just HATE that word) times who would think anywhere would be booked up. We lounged about like two coiled Cobras waiting for someone to vacate their seat till we got in, there was a moment where I thought the GF was going to spew flames at a stupid looking woman who made an attempt to jump in front of us, no way Jose! Get to the back of the line like the dog you are. A smallish place, signed photos on the wall of Z list celebs who ‘loved’ Coastal(Julian Simmonds from UTV was one of the pics so that is the celeb benchmark… dig?) A fantastic menu, service was quick quick quick and we had our order before you could read page 1 of the Sunday World(the only TRUE newspaper) Pancakes and maple syrup!!! Wow, the size of them! I am somewhat of a pancake connoisseur, having tried them on several continents but COASTAL wins hands down, they were amazing and big portions too. All washed down with lovely black coffee, it was a delight. I would drive back to Malahide for Coastal.
