An inspired choice for Valentine’s(even if I do say so myself haha) Definitely my best dining experience of 2016 thus far. I loved literally everything about this place. Decorating, staff, style of service and that old chestnut… the food. The Valentine’s menu included 3 tasting dishes, dessert and a glass of prosecco for € 35. I think it was amazing value to be honest as each dish served was extremely generous in size and quality. I went for the deep fried calamari, Thai style fish cakes, the slow braised Tipperary beef and ended with the honeycomb cheesecake. The wasabi mayo was delicious with the fish cakes. Although I didn’t love the garlic and parsley buckwheat salad but that was more about personal taste than anything else. Highly recommended then!

First things first, I’m a picky eater. Now I don’t mean that I’m shy when it comes to trying unfamiliar foods but I do love to pick at a selection of smaller dishes rather than plough through a big main meal. It comes as no surprise then that I love tasting menus, tapas, japas, bites… anything that means I can try as many dishes as possible at one time basically! So I really loved the concept of this restaurant where you pick three or four smaller dishes instead of a starter and main. If eating a deux, this means you can potentially taste 6 or 8 dishes(once your companion isn’t a Joey Tribiani type who refuses to share food, obviously!) It’s just my favourite way to eat so this restaurant was always going to float my boat, but the food is all kinds of amazing to boot, so I can’t imagine anyone leaving here unhappy. I had three dishes… the Dublin bay prawns(honestly the best prawns I’ve ever had — they were whoppers and bursting with sweet, juicy meat), the lemon and caper chicken escalope and surf and turf. Each of the three dishes was faultless, executed beautifully and looked very pretty on the plate. I would be tempted to say that the best things come in small packages; but for tasting plates the portions are actually very substantial. As the name encourages and as we were feeling pretty gluttonous, it being a lazy Sunday evening and all, we both opted for desserts… greedy geese indeed! The chocolate cake I had was served with a vat of über rich chocolate sauce, now, I LOVE chocolate but this was mega decadence! Still managed to polish it off though which is is a little worrying on my part! To sum it up, the wine, décor, food and service were all fantastic and this is now definitely my go-to restaurant in Malahide. It’s also great value –we got six plates, two desserts, two glasses of prosecco and a carafe of wine for under a € 100…who knew being greedy could be so easy on the pocket.

Overpriced for what it is in my opinion. Over € 5 for 4 pieces of cauliflower in paprika. Unreasonable. Food tasty all the same but probably wouldn’t go back.

Been here twice and would honestly go every day if I could. To begin, you walk into a nicely decorated room and head upstairs to the restaurant. There are magnificent views out the window of Malahide Estuary! The upstairs room is an average size, not too big and not too small. But I do think the tables are quite close together, which isn’t my cup of tea! I enjoy having space and not listening to the other peoples conversations. The décor is beautiful. The room itself has beautiful brick walls, although they are beautiful, the room can get quite cold. Especially if someone leaves the door open downstairs. The food is ridiculously delicious. Perfect size portions and beautiful flavours. The chefs definitely have talent. The price is superb, I can’t remember the prize exactly but for two people it was reasonably cheap for the excellent food you were served. The staff are very welcoming and they seem to know a lot about their restaurant and food, which makes the experience a lot more enjoyable. Overall, definitely worth a visit to Malahide for some scenic and scrumptious dining! 5⁄5

I was traveling around the Dublin area for a week, and The greedy goose was hands down the best dinner I had in Ireland. Not only is the restaurant water front view, but the ambiance was very relaxing and chic. The food was amazing, well seasoned, good portion size, and very reasonably priced. I usually do not eat anywhere twice, but I would come back. Great experience!

Had a really good meal here. Arrived late afternoon and booked this restaurant at this time. On Mondays many places are closed but they were open and able to accommodate a group of 8 people. Love their concept of trying out a selection of food off various menus. Thought that each dish would be small portions but they were very generous. Was absolutely full at the end. Atmosphere was great, really lovely restaurant!

Really excellent food, cosy restaurant and decent service. The waiter said they were«small portions» but we were so stuffed after three of them! Their lunch menu is very good value, even if the wine is pricy. I recommend the chickpea dish, and the fish and chips were extremely tasty! Worth a visit!

The Greedy Goose offers tasting menus; all a la carte plates are also in tasting menu size. I think 2 – 3 plates is more than enough for one person though. I ordered the roast beef beignets, Thai style fish cakes, and Hake on pepper chorizo risotto. The roast beef beignets were really unique — you get balls of roast beef fried drizzled with some bernaise mayo sauce. It was pretty good but more of an appetizer size. The Thai style fish cakes were the highlight of my meal — I really enjoyed the tangy sweet chili sauce and wasabi mayo. There was a bit too much fresh ginger for my liking, but that’s just me. The Hake was very fresh and cooked perfectly. I liked the risotto, but it didn’t amaze me. I do think that the flavors worked really well together though. Good unique food and a nice atmosphere — glad we stumbled upon here.

Thought it worthwhile to post an update. Was back here a week ago. It was… ok. Some standards appear to be dropping. For example? Well, the simple but great curry chickpea dish has now become … blander or something. Still good, but the last two times I was there it was fab. This was just ok. Also had the fish cakes, which honestly, being perfectly round balls of pretty tasteless mash+fish, were very poor and felt like they’d come out of a catering bag. Staff were friendly, place is still a nice room, but overall it felt a little disappointing(my third or fourth time here, and that’s the first time I felt that…). Still like the idea of the small plates, but am concerned that the food may be on the slide. Will go again to report back.

cozy upstairs restaurant with great dishes. i love this restaurant because its my style of eating. smaller portions of different dishes. i hate committing to only one dish at restaurants so the Greedy Goose is on my top 3 dining establishments… in Malahide. i cant remember everything i got last time but their goat cheese dish… yummmmmm… and i remember i loved their dessert but i had a few too many to remember what i got… oops. just try everything

Excellent food… really like the taster menu idea too… Staff were rude as fuck though and the place is full of pretentious cravat wearing ponces… i suppose it is malahide though

Delicious food from an unusual ‘taster’ menu. Staff not so great but overall loved this cosy little spot!

Have been a few times and Loved it each time. Super food in a totally non-fussy environment. Menu is interesting and not divided into starter and main. Just one long list of perfectly prepared small portion dishes. We normally order three courses(which they’ll serve in any order you choose) and can just about force in a dessert after. It’s right on the water’s edge for lazy strolls after dinner. You have to try it!

Had a fabulous experience here. Food was fantastic. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Views of malahide marina lovely and décor was charming. We brought the kids(three) the staff were lovely and very helpful. The kids menu was as good as any where we have been with fresh battered cod being the kids favourite. Because of the view and the intimate nature of the room(small and cosy) I thought the place would be lovely to book for small dinner party or a romantic meal and certainly will remain in my thoughts for that next special occasion. My first five star rating goes to the greedy goose.

Talk about great bang for your buck! We walked all over Malahide and worked up quite an appetite. We’d passed the Greedy Goose at a time when we weren’t so hungry and by the time we were done the nearly 5 mile walk all over town, hunger had made us stir crazy! The menu looked great and price was right! I went for the tasting menu with the bruschetta(just delicious), fish and shoestring fries as «chips»(light and flakey and not at all greasy and heavily battered) and the chocolate gâteau with vanilla bean ice cream. I had a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The whole meal came up to 21.50 euros! Totally worth every penny and delicious to boot. The view was beautiful. The ambience was great. The service was good too. Excellent place!

Did a quick online search as I as looking for a nice quick breakfast whilst in Malahide, first thing that came up was The Greedy Goose, I was intrigued by the name. Reviews seemed positive too do I thought why not, it was getting close to lunch time anyway. Menu is different, lots of smaller«taster» portions, not like tapas but just smaller than a main course. It’s also priced extremely well, € 15.95 for a 3 course lunch time special, you really can’t go wrong! Food is amazing too, can’t say enough about it. I had bruschetta for starts, then a fillet of beef wrapped in bacon, then a trio of pork with ice cream to finish. I came out a very very happy bunny! Would definitely recommend to all

It’s a lovely little place just beside the Malahide marina. With such a name, it’s tempting you to come inside, so we did. We were just passing by, and as we were hungry, we decided to visit the restaurant with the most weird name :) The place inside was nice, it’s a perfect spot for a couples, and some romantic dinner by the candle light. The chef, and his cooks were a bit too loud at the beginning, but then either we used to them, or they spotted us, and got a bit quieter. Nevertheless the food was very well presented, and it tasted great, no doubt about that, but… The portions are very small, and they’re more like snacks, rather than a proper food. So if you are very hungry, after you leave the place, you still will be hungry. The way the menu is composed gives you a very confusing impression, that you can’t change much in your order. Frankly, I’m a fan of a good, old fashioned menu, where everything is clear and straightforward. But after a quick explanation from a waiter, it all made sense. Prices were moderate high. I may visit it again in awhile, just because I liked the view through a window. :)

I really wanted to like this place. The décor is very nice and has a wonderful view of the marina. They have these things called«Tasting» menu where you pick 3 items out of the menu. It’s a nice idea. Each plates of food portions are about appetizer size. It was pretty nice portion and I like the fact you can taste everything without being stuffed. I selected crab claws, duck in a parcel, and pork belly with scallops. I really like the crab salad, but the duck was gross. It was in a bed of ketchup like sauce. The pork belly was good, but the scollop was just ok. I really really want to like this place because it looks for charming. But going to a restaurant is all about the food, and I don’t think I’d be in a hurry to go back.
