Very handy family run shop, you can get everything there from milk to greeting cards. Staff are very nice.

I love these little newsagents, full to the brim with a million different magazines(lord knows how they manage to keep them all current and up to date), a few toys and water-balloons, pens in gift boxes and calculators. A bit of everything. They also sell some fuel — coal and brickquettes mostly.

There is nothing better than a good old fashioned family run shop, with no funny business, no silly special deals and good old fashioned customer service. There is always a smile from the family who run it, and their 50p bags of penny sweets got me through many a Sunday after boredom of mass. The shop recently added an extra floor above the shop area though i am not sure if this was a business strategy in any way. The shop is a shop, just like any other shop in Dublin. It has newspapers, magazines, all the sweets and drinks, cigarettes and scratch cards. What really makes this place special is that it is not part of a chain or a multinational. It’s simply just Hewett and it always has been… and hopefully it will be for a time to come.

Sweet shop, sweet shop! Ask any child living within a two mile radius, Hewetts is the place to be. Sells papers, milk, bread, stationary and other non-sweet stuff too but really, who cares? I’m not proud of it but I still buy penny sweet bags, and you would too if you had the chance.
