Very decent. 6:45pm on a Friday night, the carpark is full and all seats are taken but the Poitín Stil being the little cubby it is, we find a space in the corner. The menu is wide and varied and they are happy to make changes where required, which always says to me that the dishes are made up fresh. I have had both the fish and chips and the ribs here and both are very good. I don’t think the deserts are made on-site so the main star is the savoury food. The after-dinner coffee was smooth and tasty. Come 9pm, the crowd has thinned a little, but again, due to the«cubby-hole» nature of this pub, it never feels empty as much as it never feels over-crowded.

Pub on the outskirts of Rathcoole, actually a great stop off before hitting a road trip out west or down south. This pub is deceiving, from the outside you think small and cosy but this place sprawls out and has lots of seating, even has a nice conversatory area which is cosy with heaters making sure you stay cosy, no matter what it’s like outside. Staff are friendly and table service is great here, always plenty of lounge staff on and beats queuing at the bar. I’m not local so it’s a tough one to get to unless you live local or like I said just have a quick bite to eat/half glass before you drive onwards out of Dublin.

This review is for the carvery and the bloke serving it to us !!! — fab !. I normally don’t like carverys but this was delicious an the guy serving made loads of conversation and he didn’t skimp out on the portions … piled a hell of a lot on the plate ! only a little bit of gravy though :-(… nice and spacious inside … crowd that come here is a bit iffy but id come back for the food. not so much for just drinking.

As this restaurant is in my area I go here a lot. An Poitín Stil is made up of a carvery/pub, and a restaurant, the latter I prefer. The last time I went here I was in the pub area for an hour, the bar food was average, nothing special, however, there was around 20 or so people walking around with loaded plates in such a compact space. The restaurant however, was a much better experience. Although I found that the restaurant was not wheelchair friendly, as there were no ramps, only stairs to the 3 sections. I started of with their chicken wings, witch were very big,(for chicken wings) they were alright. For the main course I opted for the ‘famous’ steak on the stone, which I have seen before in other restaurants. It came with chips, side salad, pepper sauce and garlic butter. That was very good, even though it took a bit of work to properly cook yourself. By the end of that I was full, but is still ordered a chocolate cake for dessert. I was generally impressed by the cake. Overall, An Potín Stil is great for a Sunday dinner or to watch the match, great atmosphere.

Poitín Still is a large pub restaurant situated in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin. It was made famous by Michelle Smith as she came back there to celebrate after winning her olympic medals for swimming. It does a very large carvery trade every day for lunch. It also has an a la carte menu for dinner. The quality of the food i got was of medium range. The beef was over done and the vegetables could have been hotter.
