Donovans Butchers

This is such a great neighborhood butcher. The man running the place is very accommodating and will slice, dice or cut anything to your specifications. They also sell eggs, vegetables, and some dry goods. Their meats and poultry are extremely high quality. The only problem is no parking in front of the shop. You have to park down the street or around the back.

It has gotten to a stage now where every shop you go into feels, quite rightly I suppose, that they need a hook — something to distinguish them from all the other shops purveying much the same produce at much the same prices. This is no less the case with Donovan’s and indeed when there is so much noteworthy competition in the area (with some fantastic butchers in Terenure) you really have to do something different.
In the case of Donovan’s they have a couple of things going for them; they totally get the idea of customer service, about being friendly and helpful but they also have a product I have never seen anywhere else, a thing called Boewoers sausage. It comes from South Africa and is 100% meat made as it is from beef, pork & bacon. It is also loaded with lots of interesting spices.
The result is a party in my mouth and everyones invited! No marinade needed just grill or bbq them — tremendous
