This is a quaint little book shop that’s holding out as one of the last few independent book shops in these parts. They’ve got your standard travel, literature and history sections, but their real passion is gardening. If you look at history books, they’ve got tons on the history of, you guessed it, gardening. The thing that I really love is the little coffee bar that they’ve added in the back of the shop. It’s a great little place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and a book, or you can sit in the garden if the weather is nice enough, might be waiting a while for that one!

Yup, as John says, it does exactly what it says on the tin… if the tin said bookshop, café and garden… at the moment it just says bookshop but the other bits are there as well… honestly! This is a lovely wee spot to hang out in on a rainy day and flick through a few scripts, the lady behind the counter couldn’t be friendlier and will go to all sorts of trouble to get the books you want. Definitely worth stopping into.

The Rathgar bookshop, is well, a bookshop in Rathgar. Although this shop is small its well stocked especially in Gardening books, which it specialises in. Its nice to see an Independent bookshop in this part of Dublin as well. The place is small and pokey but also well laid out and with a small tea and coffee area in the back. Theres also a small garden in the back. As well as a gardening section the also have a well stocked, fiction, bestseller and children’s books sections. The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable and most things can be ordered in.

This shop was voted ‘Bookseller of the Year 2005′. It is one of Dublin’s few independent bookshops. The shop sells a variety of books, including poetry, childrens and gardening. It also sells music cds and greeting cards. Coffee is on sale and you can go to a small garden out the back with garden tables to read your book. Authors evenings also take place, where wine is served. The shop is run by two really nice women, who will help with any of your queries. There is a 10% reduction for three books or more, or if you are a member of a book club you also get a reduction. Ordering can be done by phone and fax also. This place is worth a visit if for nothing more than experience a bookshop other than Easons, Dubrays, Hughes & Hughes etc.
