Fun. Was able to bring our little one to enjoy the music. She’d been cooped up in her stroller and this was fun for her and us.

Definitely worth stopping by for a true Irish pub experience! This place feels very authentic and local because it is far enough off the main tourist path. There is great live music from a few people sitting in the front section, and it feels very traditionally Irish. They also have a great Guinness, one of the best in Dublin in my opinion(along with Kehoe’s and the Storehouse).

This bar is full of authentic Irish stuff or so we’re thought to believe. Cool live music from locals. Place is somewhat dingy but pours good guiness. Also off the beaten path.

Nice pub, great live music with an awesome atmosphere! It is not the typical touristic pub, it is something more genuine. Please do not doubt and drink an Smithwicks at Cobblestone!

Although not as awesome as the Crane in Galway, this was easily the most«traditional» Irish bar I ventured into while in Dublin. It had musicians in the corner playing some live Irish music. And, it was warm and homey, giving you a place to pause away from the music as well on the other side of the room if you wanted to converse a bit. It made me feel a bit like I stepped back in time or just to a smaller city. If you are on the younger side and traveling alone, however, you will feel a little bit out of place, as the crowd does seem to be more on the older locals side of life. Bottom line: Warm up a bit and have a pint.

Small little bar in the heart of Smithfield. This place is the exact cliché of what you think of an Irish bar. Went there on a Tuesday night and there were live Irish music. The musicians were great. But I don’t like places like that kinda darky, dirty bar.

This is where the tourists don’t go. So… if you’re a tourist, and you go here, don’t ruin it! Live band, cheap drinks, local Irish folk. Downside: no food/kitchen!

Heard about this place quite a few times and finally made it here the other week. In a city, indeed country, overrun with pubs, this place is the real deal. Renowned for trad sessions every night, it sure doesn’t disappoint. The place is pretty simple really, the way Irish pubs have traditionally been I guess, but with a good selection of beers and plenty of charm. The real appeal of this place is definitely the trad music. We went on a relatively quiet night as apparently there was a big festival happening elsewhere that many cobblestone regulars were attending or something of the sort. However, I’m told that pretty much every hour this place is open there are musicians vying to play here, and so it was when we arrived. As a word of warning, if you’re expecting the hyper touristy version of Irish music you get down in temple bar then you’ll be in for a surprise as the music here is way more the traditional stuff, not the glammed up touristy version. This place is off the beaten tourist path. The music here is more like a jam session, with musicians playing different instruments together, containing the good mix of what makes a solid Irish tune: violins, accordions and the likes. There’s not always singing involved, but it’s all distinctively Irish. Catchy in its own way and fun to listen to. Would definitely recommend though if you are a tourist or bringing tourists here know what to expect as you won’t necessarily get the sing along familiar stuff you might get in other parts of town, but there’s a lot to be said for feeling like you’re in an old Irish country town feeling it the way the Irish always have, so I’d recommend checking it out.

Two tradition have remained constant over the years in this place: Beer and live Irish music. And I am very glad that this tradition with the Irish music continues and the musicians and interested people have a place to join and share, outside the the countryside, a luxury in the city of Dublin

I go here at least once a week. I love the atmosphere and it has the best pint of Galway Hooker I’ve tasted(the Guinness is nice too). The music is always excellent and it has a nice vibe. Worth the trip if you’re not staying near it and want to experience traditional music without being ripped off like in temple bar.

We went here rather early, before the music. The bartender was quite friendly and brought us up to speed with the emergence of craft beers in Ireland. The bier garden was decent off the side to get some air. Could hear the Irish dance glass practicing above/next door. Good place to go to after a time at the Jameson Distillery as it’s a short walk over.

This place is amazing, but don’t come here because I don’t want it to get super touristy! We met the owner and his daughter and nephews were here for the night to play some amazing trad music. It was our last night in Dublin and we made lots of new friends. This is a beautiful pub away from the loud dubstep and people who are gratuitously drunk. I love it and i’ll be back. This is a gorgeous fun pub with fun people and the owner is super cool and extremely friendly!

It is still my favourite pub while I am in town, despite I am not finding here the same craic as in past years. Propably new young faces, just looking for a place to drink and chat. That’s it. Inside it is still the same, with an add of a modern beer garden. Outside they replaced the sign :-( Now they serve artizan beers on the tap, an alternative way to Guinness, but if it is your first time, try the Black Stuff here. Really nice. They do live trad Irish music every day, all the day long. Beside the lounge they have a room where usually during the weekends artists perform gigs(usually you have to pay the entrance). I recommend especially if you have never been here. I personally avoid weekends as it is packed and too noisy. Better Mon to Thu to relax after work

There is always a good excuse to have some craic here. Whether you bring friends visiting Dublin to enjoy a truly Irish atmosphere or just catching up with friends and Dubliners having some craft beers. Friendly staff, great beers, good vibes.

Was a fairly quiet night when I was here so atmosphere was a little bit lacking. There was still live music, which is always nice and the group that were playing were excellent. On the night, bar staff were about as cold as the pub. Could be warmer! Will be back on a busier night!

Lovely unassuming pub in the heart of Smithfield, a minute walk away from the Lighthouse cinema. We visited on a Sunday evening and the place was busy! There was a reserved area of trad music players and they were playing some lovely tunes, although situated where they are, only one-third of the pub were able to hear them. Bartender was a friendly chap and promptly served us our Galway Hooker pints, looking slightly bemused when I ordered a dry martini and lemonade. He had to dust the bottle off!

This pub is one of my favorites: good Guinness, live traditional music every night, and good atmosphere. It’s family-owned, and the owner and his sons are usually around and available for a chat. We always bring visitors here to get a taste of a traditional Irish pub. I almost don’t want to Unilocal about it because I want to keep it for myself. The back room also always has some events going on — from lectures on the role of women in the 1916 rising to live musicians, it has the range. All around great spot.

Forget all those places in Temple Bar blaring out the diddly-aye, this is the place to go in Dublin for traditional Irish music as it should be. There are three main areas to this bar. To your left when you walk in off Smithfield square there are a few seats with«reserved for muscians», this is where the magic happens. I don’t think there is much planning to this, but every evening you have a few people who bring along instruments and play along together. This is trad music as I remember it in little country pubs as a kid. There is a second live venue in the back, there is usually a charge in to see whatever local group is playing. Then there is a large outdoor smoking area. I really like this area, it looks like the shell of a bombed out building(which it kinda is). The bar has a nice selection of craft Irish beers too. It is one of the few Dublin bars selling Creans larger(lovely!).

Auténtica cerveza irlandesa a precios habituales.
