Really excellent quality hotel food to be had here; I’m docking one point for a lack of ambiance as we were the only diners in the restaurant on the Sunday evening that we ate here — but the food and service were fantastic! Also, the dining room is really lovely with its huge open fire and chandeliers; very grawwnd altogether! The food was presented beautifully and cooked with flair and precision and our server was really enthusiastic and pleasant without being too intrusive. My starter of lobster tortellini was a mix of subtle textures and bold flavours, as lovely to eat as it was to behold. The cheese and onion bread they served at the beginning of the meal was also delicious, light with a crunchy crust and really punchy in the flavour department. The duck breast for I had for my main course was another winner, sitting atop a bed of buttered leeks and garnished with juicy pomegranate seeds it was just the right mix of richness cut through with a sweet acidity… really top-class! Pre-dessert came in the form of a white chocolate mousse with berries, I had to restrain myself from licking the glass, it was so good! I actually preferred it to my ‘real’ dessert… pear tart-tatin served with buttermilk sorbet, which was really good but lacked the wow factor of the other dishes. Three courses with tea and coffee will set you back just over € 30 but it’s well worth it for a really enjoyable dining experience and the array of choices on offer is really excellent considering it’s a set menu, would highly recommend!

Partner got a great voucher for here recently, 5 course meal for € 50. I had had the bar food here before so reasonably high expectations for the place. We were the only people there but there was a fire blazing and our waitress was very pleasant so this was not a problem at all. The food was gloriously good. I had the quail and venison as my two main meals followed by a chocolate torte to finish. In between was a terrine and a white chocolate/raspberry wee dessert. Each and everyone was top top notch. It was as good and better than many other hotels I’ve been to for dining out. Highly recommended!
