Been here several times, mostly during the day. Very quite, friendly staff. Quaint with a very Irish pub feel.

Have eaten at The Well twice which is at the back of The Lord Mayors and have left satisfied both times. Also have been here for a 30th and honestly, it was the best finger food I’ve ever had, hands down. The prices are very reasonable here, I went for the steak sandwich for under a tenner, where else would you get that! Also shared the apple tart which was yum. I mean, let’s not kid ourselves, we’re talking pub grub here but done as pub grub should be done imo :)

The Well in Swords is a nice little bar with a great outdoor seating area for finer days that serves up decent home-made pub grub. All their food is made from scratch and I think it is definitely one of the best options for bar food in the village. Their portions are very generous too and it’s good value and while you won’t be blown away by their menu(all very traditional options — goujons, fish n’ chips, lasagne, bugers, stir-fries, curries and sandwiches) you will find that all the food is super fresh, tasty and filling. A place to bring the family and have everyone leave happily, no-fuss, no-frills but very good home-cooked dishes at reasonable prices.

Brought my family out for dinner today in The Well. It was slightly above my intended budget but here you pay for quality food. We left feeling majorly satisfied but the meal was wonderful. Recommended highly by myself

For an American traveling to Ireland this was«exactly» what we wanted from a stop at a pub. Friendly service, while the menu was strictly pub/bar fare, it was excellent, good portions, tasty and served hot. I got a kick out of seeing what appeared to be ½ liter beer/ale glasses but then it WAS a pub in Ireland. The prices were what I considered excellent as well. A bonus was the table full of what I would guess to be local musicians playing«traditional» Irish music, accordions, lots of guitar, a guy with 8 – 10 various flutes, tin whistles etc, another gentleman had various harmonica’s, a drum(Bodhran) player and one of the guitar players had an Irish bouzouki — mandolin — lute kinda thingy that sounded beautiful. In all there were at various times from 9 – 12 players in all. The session was wonderful, playing the typical goodbye to love forever mixed with foot tapping let’s be happy variety of tunes. Growing up listening to Irish music, I felt very much at home sitting there and it fit perfectly with the overall atmosphere of the pub, more like a gathering of friends not seen in a long time verses the euro-centric chic feeling of other places we happened across. If in Swords you could do a lot worse I’m sure, while not an expert on the Irish Pub scene, as I mentioned earlier this was an Irish American’s mental image of of a night in Dublin.

The Lord Mayor’s pub and their off licence are side by side on Swords Main Street. The offo has really great deals on alcohol — probably the cheapest in the area aside from JC’s. Anyway! There are a few different ways to get into the pub, from the car park to the Main Street, and up the creaky wooden staircases you go. The pub is over 21’s but it’s not very strictly enforced. There aren’t too many young people there on the weekends though it’s usually packed anyway. From the outside the place always looks appealing because of the smoking area/entrance/archway which leads you from the pub to the off licence and out to Main Street — it’s always lit up and filled with people who look like their genuinely having a good time. Trad bands play here each Sunday so that makes a great night out in Dublin when you’re looking for a singalong and a bitta craic!
