The Early Learning Centre stocks toys for babies, toddlers and young children, generally with an educational, or at least good for them, idea behind them. And it isn’t as dull as it sounds — there’s lots of bright colours and shiny boxes here too. You’ll see lots of parents and their young children here, but it’s also a good place for the childless to buy gifts for children, because age group is clearly marked on boxes — my last year of being an aunt has been a revelation in what you can and can’t give children! The toys here are imaginative and interesting without being overpriced. They mostly stock their own brand of toys but also some other brands which fit in with the whole ethos. This is usually the first place I look when thinking about a gift to give a small child. Sometimes it’s like a trip down memory lane, but with a twist, for example now the toy cash registers have a chip and pin slot!
